Another day, another Shondaland TV show that’s got way too many characters and oozes drama. I’m going to be completely honest here: I walked into The Residence not knowing a single thing about it, so I found myself a little bit skeptical when I realized it was a “whodunit” set in the White House. In truth, as a non-local, I’ve never been vested in the historical architectural marvel (I’m not even sure it is one), but what intrigued me about this show is that it never really focuses on the President or the first gentleman; instead, it brings the story to life through the staff. The foundation of the building, if you will. The centerpiece of this story is the chief usher of the White House, who is found dead on the night of a very important state dinner with some Australian delegates. When he is discovered,...

Remember how Jason Sudeikis and the team behind “Ted Lasso” said the series was officially over with Season 3? Even after multiple Emmy wins and record views on Apple TV+? Well surprise surprise. Apple announced Friday that that the hit sports dramedy will be returning for Season 4, and the man behind the mustache, Sudeikis, will be coming along too.
Sudeikis will reprise his role as Coach Lasso, though no other cast has been announced. However, Deadline reported in August 2024 that cast members Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein, and Jeremy Swift had their options picked up by UK acting union Equity, sparking rumors that Season 4 was around the corner.
Jack Burditt is joining the show as an executive producer for Season 4 as part of his new overall deal with Apple TV+. Goldstein however is returning as a writer and EP alongside Leanne Bowen, as he did during the show’s initial run. He...

Ridley Scott is a visionary director known for his striking and meticulously crafted films across numerous genres. While he’s widely recognized for sci-fi spectacles like Alien and Blade Runner, and historical epics like Gladiator, he's had a notable action-packed dip into cinematic crime. Scott's crime dramas often focus on tense power struggles, moral dilemmas, and the high-stakes world of illegal enterprises. His 2007 film American Gangster was nominated for two Oscars for its gripping biographical drama of Frank Lucas, starring Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe.
The award-winning director also helmed The Counselor, a neo-noir crime thriller written by Cormac McCarthy, which explored the consequences of greed in the Mexican drug trade. Black Rain brought Scott’s stylish visuals to a Yakuza crime story set in Japan, while Body of Lies followed high-octane espionage in the Middle East with a tense, politically charged thriller. Michelle Monaghan has always been a chameleon of sorts. Ruling over the small screen the past year as an unhinged ex-girlfriend in Bad Monkey opposite Vince Vaughn, she became the scene-stealer of the Apple TV+ hit with her comedic brilliance and relentless intensity rolled into one as Bonnie. Now, she's currently starring in Max’s biggest television hit, The White Lotus. Season 3 premiered this past Sunday, and she’s one of the top-billed stars, as a privileged television actress taking a trip with some old girlfriends. For those curious about the road that led her to such rich, complex female characters, Monaghan's breakthrough role came with her greatest, and most devastating performance to date, in the gritty 2008 independent film, Trucker.

The Guild of Music Supervisors Awards revealed its 2025 winners Sunday night (Feb. 23). The 15th annual ceremony was held at The Wiltern in L.A.’s Koreatown and honors the year’s best work in songs and scores for screen.

The opening remarks didn’t shy away from addressing the Academy’s decision to “move away” from best original song live performances at the 2025 Oscars. “We are proud that our awards for best song written and or recorded for film and for television, acknowledges the collaborative efforts of the songwriters, the performers, and of course the music,” Guibert told the crowd.

Prolific comedy writer Bill Lawrence gave an update on where his reboot of “Scrubs” is in the development stage while speaking with Variety on the Writers Guild Awards red carpet Saturday in New York.
“Well first thing is, on an interview, asking my wife if she’ll do the show whenever she has time,” Lawrence said while standing next to his wife, “Scrubs” alum Christa Miller.
Lucky for Lawrence, Miller replied: “Of course.”
With that cleared up, the “Scrubs” creator went on to say: “We’re in the process of, the cool thing, putting the writers together. And it’s the best thing in the world to see that some of the most talented writers in the world wrote on that show and they’re all still friends, and my friends. And so [we] have a combination of the old and new. We’re just starting to build it right now.

“The best thing about Hollywood, other than, obviously, award shows, is that all of us got in the door because someone believed in us,” said Bill Lawrence, accepting the WGA East Herb Sergeant Award in New York tonight, urging the assembled to “go out and find a young person to believe in.”
“Give an hour of your time to someone every month. In the worst case, you get to talk about yourself for an hour,” said the creator of Scrubs, which has a reboot in development, and Apple TV+ hit Ted Lasso, eyeing a fourth season. His long list of credits also includes Apple’s Shrinking and Bad Monkey, Spin City and Cougar Town. He was, however, quite serious, devoting his acceptance speech to helping the next generation of writers, especially in a new landscape of small writing staffs, and young writers jumping from show to show. Although countless Scrubs fans will be ecstatic about the show's return, a recent reveal about those involved with the revival confirms creator Bill Lawrence's comments about the sitcom's comeback taking on a new approach. With so much time having passed since the show was canceled in 2010, Scrubs season 10 is obviously going to be different from the previous nine runs. Lawrence himself has already confirmed the Scrubs revival won't just focus on the original cast, but also on younger doctors played by new actors. However, one massive behind-the-scenes change could have the biggest impact.
Although there have been no official announcements yet regarding who will be coming back, Scrubs season 10 needs several characters to return if the revival is to feel anything like the show's golden era. That being said, it was Scrubs' talented crop of writers, directors, producers, and other unseen personnel who also contributed to Scrubs' success. Thankfully,...

Vince Vaughn is known primarily as a comedic actor. Most recently, these humourous tendencies were exhibited in his performance in the Apple TV+ series Bad Monkey. Based on the book of the same name by Carl Hiaasen, the story saw Vaughn play a bumbling cop who is passionate about solving a high-profile case regarding a suspicious death. Bad Monkey was renewed for season 2, giving Vaughn another chance to play the role of the wisecracking, ungraceful but lovable Andrew Yancy.
In addition to Bad Monkey, Vaughn's comedy roles on screen have included parts in Dodgeball and Wedding Crashers. Comedy is not all Vaughn is capable of, however. While he is mostly known for the laugh-inducing genre, the actor has also been in several more dramatic roles. One such part was playing Norman Bates in Gus Van Sant's 1998 shot-for-shot remake of Psycho. While notoriously panned, this film showed off what Vaughn...

Every once in a while, an actor will give a performance that people remember for the rest of their lives. For Vince Vaughn (Bad Monkey), it was from an unexpected title. Best known for his comedic performances in movies like Wedding Crashers and Couples Retreat, Vaughn surprised everyone by taking on a dense and even scary role in the prison drama Brawl in Cell Block 99. It's the kind of movie you have to see to believe, but you'll only be able to check it out on Netflix until the end of this month.

When I say this, I say it on behalf of everyone: this year passed by like a blur. But what saved us from the turmoil of ‘life’ are great movies and TV shows that came out in 2024.

Some shows, like wine, simply get better with age. Twenty years since its first episode premiered, the Bill Lawrence-created sitcom, Scrubs, can still pride itself as being an enjoyable watch. The series' finale aired nearly a decade and a half ago, and in an era of reboots, there have been hopes for one. As will certainly impress many fans, a Scrubs reboot is officially in the works, with its original creator attached. In the years that followed Scrubs' end, Lawrence has developed other noteworthy shows like Ted Lasso, Shrinking, and Bad Monkey, all for Apple TV+. Now, Lawrence has made a pledge to fans looking forward to the reboot's premiere.

A Scrubs reboot is officially in the works, 14 years after its finale aired, and now, the series’ creator, Bill Lawrence, is talking about why it took so long to get off the ground. Per the Los Angeles Times, Lawrence, who is also the creator of the Apple TV+ shows Ted Lasso, Shrinking, and Bad Monkey, “was always hesitant” to revisit the medical comedy/drama/sitcom.
“If I thought it was a bad idea, I wouldn’t do it. I’m not chasing commerce and, without being self-aggrandizing, I don’t need to,” Lawrence said. “Creatively, if somebody said, ‘Do you want to pick Scrubs up right back in the same hospital with the same people on a normal day, everything’s back to normal? No, that would be disingenuous to the story,” he said.

Apple TV+'s sun-drenched adaptation of Bad Monkey was a surprise hit in late 2024, and now the show has been renewed for a second season. Based on the eponymous novel by Carl Hiaasen, Bad Monkey follows a disgraced ex-cop named Andrew (Vince Vaughn), whose new career as a health inspector puts him on the trail of a gruesome mystery. Capturing Hiaasen's style excellently, Bad Monkey delves into deep themes like corruption and environmentalism, all the while delivering the author's pitch-black sense of humor on the wild and wacky shores of South Florida.
Despite his four decades as a best-selling novelist, Hiaasen's works are an untapped well that Hollywood has only come to a few times over the years. Bad Monkey is the first project to go for the gusto and adapt one of his signature hilarious mysteries on a large scale. The ending of Bad Monkey may have made some changes to the novel,...

Following recent news of the Bad Monkey season 2 renewal, the murder-mystery series will also be getting a new location. Created by Ted Lasso's Bill Lawrence, the Apple TV+ series is based on Carl Hiaasen’s bestselling detective novel and stars Vince Vaughn as Andrew Yancy, a disgraced former Miami detective turned health inspector. Bad Monkey season 1 follows Yancy after a severed arm washes up on the shore of the Florida Keys, leading him into a world of corruption and crime that’s as absurd as it is dangerous. Its depiction of eccentric Floridians and Vaughn's sarcastic portrayal of Yancy has made it a standout on the streaming platform.
According to Variety, Bad Monkey will shift its filming location from Florida to California for its second season, taking advantage of a $20 million tax credit from the California Film Commission. The relocation is part of the state’s ongoing effort to beef...

Scrubs creator Bill Lawrence is bringing back the medical comedy 15 years later after the show ended with a notoriously disliked final season. Despite having the opportunity to retcon that ninth season in different ways, Lawrence says the upcoming reboot will honor the controversial events of Seasn 9, which mainly focused on a new set of characters (in a new location) — something that wasn't fully embraced by Scrubs fans. While Season 9 did see most of the original stars return in guest roles, Donald Faison and John C. McGinley were the only two to return in recurring roles. That was obviously a bold choice (given the popularity of the show's original cast)... and it didn't pay off: Scrubs was canceled following its ninth season.
But, despite all that, Lawrence says there is room for Scrubs' talented final season cast in the upcoming revival. During a conversation with TVLine, Lawrence defended his stance, saying,...

As Gov. Gavin Newsom readies a plan to double California’s film and TV incentive program from $330 million to $750 million a year in tax relief for producers who shoot in the state, a new coalition is forming to lobby aggressively to keep Hollywood in Hollywood.
The group, titled the California Production Coalition, comprises 30-plus businesses and organizations including studio operators like Hudson Pacific Properties and Raleigh Studios as well as payroll providers like Entertainment Partners and Wrapbook, film equipment providers and the studios’ main trade org the Motion Picture Association.
It launched with an independent poll commissioned that pushes its narrative that voters in the state also care about keeping the motion picture industry filming in Hollywood. And the formation arrives the same day as the California Film Commission touted that it had enticed season two of Apple TV+’s Bad Monkey to relocate from Florida with $20 million in tax credits.
