Following Keanu Reeves‘ retired hitman on his descent back into the criminal underworld, the John Wick franchise created for Lionsgate by Kolstad launched with a 2014 film of the same name, which built to a pair of sequels released in 2017 and 2019. The trio of critically acclaimed action-thrillers have grossed over $585 million worldwide, with each netting more than the last, and a fourth chapter coming up for release on March 24.

Kolstad wrote the first two John Wick films and co-wrote the third, with his work also spurring two other anticipated projects: the limited series The Continental from Lionsgate/Peacock and the female-driven spin-off Ballerina led by 2023 Oscar nom Ana de Armas. Starting from his first acting gig, as a car salesman in the feature “Our Town”, which he also scripted, Mo Hong-jin has shown time and time again his affinity for the thriller genre. Even though it has been one of the most popular genre in his home country, it would take him nine years until the first day of shooting began for “Missing You”. Synopsis

“Perhaps Love” is a comedy about a best selling writer named Hyeon who’s been in the slumps for 7 years meeting a wannabe writer Yoo-jin.

The feature, which was previously titled “Not the Lips”, stars Ryoo Seung-ryong, one of Korea’s most bankable stars and whose last released film was the smash-hit “Extreme Job”, in the lead role of writer Hyeon. Though Marvel has decided to consolidate all of its cinematic universe offerings onto Disney+, some outliers still live on for other streaming services. In May 2021, Hulu is set to premiere the latest non-canon Marvel series.

The animated comedy Marvel’s M.O.D.O.K. is set to premiere on May 21 and stars Patton Oswalt as the titular Marvel villain. Oswalt’s Modok is every bit the devious floating head that he’s depicted as in the comics. He’s also your every day family man and the show will take on the format of a workplace sitcom. Sounds kinda fun! It’s no wonder that M.O.D.O.K. is the last Hulu Marvel show standing.

Inspired by a true story about a guy’s online blog detailing his relationship with a girl, “My Sassy Girl” was an absolute phenomenon in Korea, and in much of Asia in general. The pinnacle of Korean rom-com movies and copied over and over, it never really invented the game in the first place. However, it did perfect it.

“My Sassy Girl” follows the story of the mild-mannered Kyun-woo (played by Cha Tae-hyun), a 25-year old student who essentially saves the life of the unnamed “sassy” girl (played by Jun Ji-hyun). Despite the absolutely insane behavior of the girl now and then, Kyun-woo soon feels some sense of responsibility for her and ends up falling in love in the process. “Good Neighbour” is a project worth looking out for two big reasons. One: it is the return of actor Oh Dal-su. The once much-loved actor fell sharply from grace when his name came up in the early days of the #metoo movement in Korea. All projects featuring the actor had since been shelved or dropped, including this one. However, the court cleared him of all wrongdoings last year and fans have been looking forward to his comeback to the big screen. The second reason “Good Neighbour” should jump up everybody’s anticipated films list is that it is also the return of director Lee Hwan-kyung, whose last film seven years ago was the smash-hit and still highly popular “Miracle in Cell No. 7”. Exclusive: Derek Kolstad, scribe and creator of the John Wick franchise and co-writer of the upcoming Marvel mini-series The Falcon And the Winter Soldier, is teaming up with Swiss producer-distributor Ascot Elite Entertainment, director Claudio Fah (Northmen – A Viking Saga) and producer Christopher Milburn (Unhinged) on action-thriller Acolyte.

The longtime Kolstad passion project, about a simple man who reveals himself to be anything but as he assembles his old crew to rescue his kidnapped wife, has attracted DoP Lorenzo Senatore (Hellboy) and will be produced by Ascot Elite’s Ralph S. Dietrich, Karin G. Dietrich and Stephan Giger with Milburn serving as executive producer.

The casting process is underway in London and Ascot Elite is aiming for the film to become the first in a series of related features.
