I don't have any idea if this kind of survival movie is ever made in India. Or maybe, I'm just came across this for the first time. The movie is okay because it isn't entirely a new concept. Some concepts are taken from Foreign movies too. Besides, the movie is predictable. Moreover, the child breathing problem disease makes this movie bit unrealistic like seriously, putting something for making this movie more intense.
When the Oxygen (O2) level will be down, everyone will look for the ways to survive and for that they will attack, even kill one another. In this way, everyone will try to hunt this boy down for attaining his oxygen cylinder. It is more like a survive journey of a mother to save her son vs people on the bus in stead survival of a landslide.
But,the rest is okay. One might feel bored because of it's duration. But, if it is solely based on survival, it will be more thrilling and exciting. Sadly, melodramatic mother and son concept ruined it.

May be it is predictable or done with references but a different experience and a good film. Technical work of the film is also well done like cinematography, editing and sounds. More than worth for OTT release.

Lady Superstar Nayanthara redefined the Tamil movie landscape in 2018, proving with her immense performances in "Kolamavu Kokila" and "Imaikkaa Nodigal" that there is scope and marketability for female-centric commercial films. While the journey thereon have been stop-start in terms of solo hits, the actress has held her own with Direct-to-digital releases like "Mookuthi Amman (2020)" and "Netrikann (2021)", striking a chord with at-home audiences.
Her latest outing is also tailor-made for OTT, with the makers employing a largely single location narrative to make a low-budget but well intentioned story centred around the loving bond between a mother and her child. Nayanthara plays "Parvathy", a devoted mother to "Veera" (played by a splendid Rithvik), a smart child who suffers from cystic fibrosis, which restricts his ability to breathe. Constantly needing the aid of an Oxygen cylinder, the mother and child embark on a bus ride to Kochi from Coimbatore for an operation that might improve his condition.
They are joined by a pair of star-crossed lovers, a corrupt policeman, a disgraced ex-MLA and others in an ill-fated bus journey as they get trapped under the mud and sludge during a massive landslide amidst heavy rains. Trapped underneath the earth with the air running out with each passing minute, how the passengers come to grips with their predicament forms the rest of what was an interesting premise.
Debutant director GS Venkatesh clearly bites off more than he can chew, hitting almost every cinematic trope seen in survival thrillers, straight on the head, offering no unpredictability in his storytelling. Thankfully, the sparkling chemistry between a typically terrific Nayanthara and the precocious Rithvik, make even the cliched mother-son sequences engaging and watchable. The director tries to set up a motley crew of supporting characters but while some like Jaffer Idukki and Barath Neelakantan click, most of the others fail to make any impression, with RNR Manohar's character especially coming across as loud and too over-the-top.
"O2" is one of those movies that you can watch and absorb but will leave no lasting impression or offer you anything new. This is one strictly intended for hardcore Nayanthara fans. The movie is now streaming on Disney+ Hotstar and is available in its primary language of Tamil as well as in Malayalam, Telugu and Kannada dubs, alongwith English subtitles.

The story and screenplay of this film are abysmally written, lacking creativity and depth.
Despite their efforts, all the actors fall short of delivering a compelling performance.
Nayan's decline is evident with each film, as her skills seem to be diminishing.
The director's incompetence is glaringly obvious, resulting in a major failure.
The visual effects used in the film appear cheap and poorly executed.
Overall, this film is simply not worth your time, failing to offer any redeeming qualities or engaging moments.

Intresting plot but flat screenplay and poor execution . We should really appreciate for trying this kinda survival thriller in Kollywood , but other than good plot they majorly missed a engaging screenplay and execution . Cast performance was decent . Not even single character shined . Poor VFX . Overall watch at your own risk .

Good movie not bad
Finally watched this movie , experience was superb and heart touching. Theatre release would have been better.
Good and nice to seeing this film.

First 30 minutes of the movie was very good and setting the context well for what's coming up next. Rest of the movie was simply dragging and easily predictable, length of the movie could have been reduced by 30 mins to make it crisp.
Acting of Nayanthara was pretty normal and there's nothing great to mention.
Inspite of the negatives mentioned, one message which can be taken away is - How might we strive for oxygen in future, if we continue to spoil the nature the way we have been doing?

Started off very well. The 12 characters on the bus with seperate backstory and their purpose of the travel was very neatly shown. That actually created more interest on the movie.
The first 40 minutes was very good and was expecting a lot from O2. Ultimately as expected there was stupid twists and characters rumbling around to survive and few irritating scenes which is not possible at all was destroying the whole movie.
There were lot of scope for emotions and only Murugadoss and that kid did it very well. Others were trying to react but very poor performance.
Nayanthara kept her makeup and dress clean from starting till end, even when there was mud all over the bus. Felt like skipping it but my mom was accompanying and hence had to see this movie in full😡😡😡

Different level.
Dint look like tunnel or sink hole some reviewers claimed. I have watched both the tunnel and sink hole. Other than survival part this one is total different which has an element called oxygen. Give it a try definitely worth your time.

RATED 6/10

Opt title for this survival thriller. The story is simple and predictable, still they made it watchable by adding some good characters in the flow. If they trim the movie with some unwanted scenes in the first half, it could be more racier and entertaining one
There is some cliche sequences between mother and son. It looks like they added to boast Nayanthara role. The movie is definitely suitable for OTT release only.
One time watchable as this is the first attempt on survival theme in Tamil cinema.
--repeating again for 600 characters limit One time watchable as this is the first attempt on survival theme in Tamil cinema.

Not worth to see in OTT even as a time killer.
Poor acting, bad casting, no story, and no logic. Totally killed the movie logic.
Feel headache watching movie. Never seen worst movie.

Again another great disappointment after netrikann... an ok plot and not presented well too... direction, screen play, casting etc etc nothing is good in this movie... nayan's acting in this movie is as usual very good... but the movie itself is not at all entertaining... heavy heartedly disappointed again...
Nayanthara mam performance was really good in this film. Some vfx effects and sound quality was well made. The camera angles to project the disaster was well taken.
Semma Padam!!
This movie tells that we cannot live with out the nature. Please plant more trees this is a lesson to all the youngsters. Interesting and nice.

Story is about a group of people getting struck in a bus have to survive with less oxygen. It took them 36 mins to come to the main plot. Nayan intro, her kid's intro, their relationship strong, dialog about being a strong mom are all unnecessary. The scenes and scenarios should reveal these info.
People inside bus have no clue about oxygen but nayan needs it for her kid. Under this crucial circumstance, nayan is the one who informs to everyone that they need oxygen to survive putting her kid's oxygen in danger.
An annoying cop inside walks and orders everyone to do things. Already the movie was uninteresting and He made me to turn off the movie completely. 2 stars for Rithu rocks only.

A different try with a somehow unique plot
the film would make you feel like want to have oxygen as it takes you through a journey of what happens when a bus gets buried in a landslide from the hill and what would happen with the mindset of humans and how their behaviours would change and all from the psychological standpoint.
Almost the whole film is made inside a bus with drama involving the sequences of getting escaped and fighting for O2 and how/if they finally come out of it alive or not remains the final portion of the film.
The plot was solid enough to keep the audience engaged throughout but it fails to do so although it is shortly made, that's partly because of the pace of the film and other factors like not-so-good VFX & music, still, the film is definitely one time watchable if you like watching excavation kinda films.

I don't know why reviewers hate this!!
It's actually very good. It kept me gripped for 2 hours due to its unique story. I know VFX were no good but considering budget and scale it was pretty fine.

Surly an underrated movie.
I can't imagine how they missed to bring in the light for this kind of movie. I was totally moved with the concept and making of the movie. The climax was full of tears.
