Skiing? Mountain Climbing?

Andre De La Varre directs this travelogue in which we get to see the sort of sports that the Swiss excel in: shell racing, tennis, swimming, horse jumping, and, of course, gymnastics and wrestling.

Andre De La Varre had been helping make travelogues since the early 1920s, when he worked for pioneer Burton Holmes. When he began to produce and direct as well as shoot his own travelogues in 1933, he excelled in showing you things that you didn't expect..... but which seemed utterly natural when you thought about it. Here he shows that the Swiss like sports just as much as anyone: just not the sports you'd think.
