I saw Wish143 at the Palm Springs short fest where it won the audience award
and I loved it. Don't want to give away too much but it's about a kid who is fighting for his life and is granted a final wish by one of those organizations that wants to give them a treat. Of course he wishes for something that is hard to get hold of and the film highlights his journey trying to obtain this goal. The film is a great mix of dark comedy and drama and I found myself laughing one minute and holding back the tears the next. Was amazed by the amount of top tier British actors in it – Jim Carter, Jodie Whitaker (who I loved in Venus) and Dean Andrews who I have seen in the British version of Life on Mars. Also thought the lead guy Samual Peter Holland played the lead character David with real sensitivity.
I really really loved this film. It triggered every emotion under the sun - one minute I was laughing and the next I was crying. Really touching scenes between Sam Holland and Jodie Whitaker - well acted by both. Many of the actors' names weren't familiar, but was amazed once I watched the film how many high calibre people were starring in it. Jim Carter was excellent (as always)and Samuel Holland was perfectly cast in the lead role. Wished it was longer and wanted to watch it again straight away - fantastic! I understand the film has won two or three awards and I must say that I feel these are very well deserved. The film is only 20 minutes or so long but quickly felt for David the lead character and what he was going through. Would highly recommend this to anyone.
