Dead Man's Wire is partially based on the documentary Dead Man's Line (2018)

Nicolas Cage was set to play Tony Kristis and Werner Herzog was directing ,shooting was scheduled to take place in August 2024 but for production reasons it was delayed to early 2025 then Cage couldn't do it due to his commitment with Amazon Studios and Herzog was not interested in directing the film without Cage, both filmmakers were replaced.

Gus Van Sant collaborated with Bill Skarsgard's father Stellan Skarsgard on Will Hunting (1997).

Colman Domingo started working on this movie after completing his 2 days of filming on Running Man (2025).

This is John Robinson's first collaboration with Gus Van Sant since Elephant (2003).
