Green and Gold

This movie is so special. I saw it today for the third time in a packed theater in Wisconsin. It warmed my heart to watch it again not only with my family, but also alongside strangers who were experiencing it for the first time. There was a well-deserved round of applause in the theater at the end. The Packers storyline is just one enjoyable part of an overall heartwarming, hopeful, and incredible film. The acting, the music, and the cinematography pull together beautifully. Every time I've seen it, I've laughed and cried and left wanting to tell more people to see it before it leaves theaters. Best movie I have seen in a very long time.

"Green and Gold" is a heartfelt, Midwest-infused sports drama that blends football, family, and perseverance into a compelling underdog story. Craig T. Nelson delivers an authentic and endearing performance as a Wisconsin dairy farmer on the brink of losing his land, who makes a desperate bet that if the Green Bay Packers win the Super Bowl, he'll get a loan extension and a chance to save his farm. While his struggle is the film's backbone, the emotional core comes from his granddaughter, an aspiring musician whose dreams could be the family's true lifeline. The film beautifully captures small-town resilience, weaving in rich Midwestern details, Bears-Packers rivalry moments, and nostalgic nods to Brett Favre's glory days. Even as a lifelong Bears fan, I was completely drawn into the story, proving that this isn't just about football-it's about determination, sacrifice, and the power of second chances. With shades of Field of Dreams and It's a Wonderful Life, Green and Gold is a touching and inspiring film that celebrates hope and perseverance.

The originally-titled God Loves the Green Bay Packers is about more than just football (keeping simple, it's probably best they changed titles). We do get a training camp feel for the fanbase and scenes with tailgating; however, the flashbacks inspire things that are deeper than any real-time football action-farming and family. A grandfather, granddaughter, and multi-generational team bring out the charm, bring out hidden power in the making. I'd like to call this a picture on God and gambling. Perhaps that fits its faith mold too easily. Green & Gold is not a Fly Old Bird film, although you may enjoy this and Journey to the Ark differently.

We saw it in theaters tonight and I know I'm biased being from Wisconsin and being a die hard Packer fan myself but I believe anyone could love this film regardless of who you root for! Just a great film overall and tugs at every one of your heart strings and the acting was superb for an independent film. It helps shed light on other perspectives in different peoples life's. The ending to the movie we thought was perfect and helps bring the whole movie together and leaves you feeling like you have more faith in humanity to come together when you're at lowest in life. Great film and story. We will definitely watch again. Go Pack!

If you go in with the right mindset I think you would really enjoy it.

Really good human story, no agenda, no CGI or car crashes, just a story about an old school farmer who is threatened with foreclosure.

They weave a little mid-90's Packers in there (Favre, Sterling Sharpe, Reggie White, etc) but it's far from a Packers movie.

All filmed in Door County, Wisconsin, it's a beautiful depiction of life in a family farm.

I'm sure some will see it as hokey, but I really liked the human aspect of it.

Craig T Nelson does a nice job, the scenery and setting is classic rural Wisconsin. Great visuals, and the ending is heart warming!
