Hell Driver

How Does Amber Heard Make Money in 2025?
Image
An American actress known for her roles in films such as Pineapple Express, Aquaman, and Drive Angry, Amber Heard started acting in the early 2000s and eventually caught her break when she secured a major role in DC’s Aquaman as Mera, making her a notable figure in Hollywood.

But that’s not the only reason she has attracted attention. She has been in hot water for the past few years due to the defamation case between her and her ex-husband, Johnny Depp. It all started in 2016 when Amber filed for divorce from Johnny Depp after accusing him of physical abuse and substance abuse. The divorce was settled with Depp paying her $7 million, which she claimed she would donate to charity.

However, it was later revealed that she never donated the full $7 million to charity. The first installment was paid by Depp’s team, and some came from Elon Musk.

The Canceled Hellraiser Prequel That Would Have Cast A Dark Knight Actor As Pinhead
Image
The "Hellraiser" movies, which originate from Clive Barker's "The Hellbound Heart" novella, have inflicted legendary suffering on their victims for almost 40 years. In that time, the franchise has traveled everywhere from New York City to medieval France to even outer space. Regardless of the location, however, one thing remains constant: The Hell Priest, aka Pinhead, and the Cenobites have such great sights to show anyone bold (or merely careless) enough to summon them using the Lament Configuration (a puzzle box with hellish powers).

In the original 1987 "Hellraiser" film, Frank Cotton (Sean Chapman) sets in motion the chain of events that befall his family at the hands of the Cenobites. However, all we learn about Frank is that he acquired the puzzle box, got punished, escaped from Hell, and rekindled an affair with his brother's wife while she delivered blood sacrifices to restore him. The time between him finding the...

Beyond ‘Heart Eyes’ – The Perfect Valentine’s Day Horror Movies to Watch This Year
Image
‘Heart Eyes’ continues horror’s successful tradition of terrifying tales and extreme slashers that take advantage of the year’s most romantic holiday.

Holidays can be a wonderful time of unity where friends, family, and loved ones come together, whether they subscribe to the entrenched tropes of these seasonal customs or have created their own. Holiday horror films have become one of the genre’s most cathartic traditions. This subversive brand of horror started to find its footing during the ’70s through movies like Silent Night, Bloody Night, Whoever Slew Auntie Roo?, and of course — Black Christmas and Halloween.

The tongue-in-cheek nature of Christmas horror movies have helped make these the most popular holiday horror sub-genre. There are close to 100 Christmas horror movies, but this hasn’t stopped other holidays, like Thanksgiving, April Fool’s Day, and even Independence Day, from also leaving their mark on the horror genre.

Valentine...

Action Movie 'Aftermath' Starring Dyaln Sprouse Gets Netflix Release Date
Image
Netflix has very much been in the action business lately, with hits like Rebel Ridge and Carry-On cementing the streamer as one to watch when it comes to the popular genre. Now, the platform has gotten its hands on another explosive action flick...though it may not be quite the same critical slam-dunk as Aaron Pierre’s revenge thriller or Taron Egerton’s gripping Christmas adventure. Starring former Disney actor and Big Daddy star Dylan Sprouse, Aftermath finds the actor leading the charge as a war veteran suffering from Ptsd who finds himself being held hostage on Boston's Tobin Memorial Bridge by a group of ex-military revolutionists. It sounds like they made a classic action movie mistake.

Aftermath is all set to land on Netflix on February 10, 2025 (via What's on Netflix), this B-movie action delight comes courtesy of director Patrick Lussier, who is best known for helming the likes of...

Image
There’s the Black List, an annual survey of Hollywood’s most-liked unproduced screenplays that has been going on for nearly twenty years. For the last fifteen years, we’ve had the Blood List, a survey of unproduced thriller and horror scripts voted upon by industry professionals. In 2022, a website called the Stunt List was launched, “created as an artistic home to encourage writers to showcase their unique and original voices.” And last year, the Stunt List shared their first Dead List, a collection of “market-ready original horror screenplays.” The Dead List is back this year with 50 market-ready horror scripts, and you can check it out Here… and to spice things up, this year’s Dead List also features three “guest scripts.” The first of these guest scripts is The Overlook Hotel, a feature-length prequel to Stephen King’s The Shining that was written by former The Walking Dead showrunner Glen Mazzara.

Writers Guild warns union members to not work on projects from Expendables studio Millennium Films
Image
While the strike last year from the Writers Guild of America brought Hollywood to a standstill, there is one production company that is remaining to be a complication with the union. That company is Avi Lerner’s Millennium Films. Lerner is an alum of the notorious Cannon Films studio, which famously went bankrupt under mismanagement. Millennium continued the tradition of genre films with lower budgeted action fares like the Expendables franchise, Olympus Has Fallen, Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard and Drive Angry.

The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that the Writers Guild has recently sent out a warning members not to work with Millennium Pictures since the studio is not a signatory to its 2023 union agreement contract, whose term is three years. The top executive officers of the union stated in a Wednesday message to members,

Writers Guild West Tells Members Not to Work With ‘The Expendables’ Producer Millennium Pictures
Image
The Writers Guild of America West has ordered its members to cease working with The Expendables producer Millennium Pictures, citing that the company is not a signatory to its current union agreement.

“We are writing to alert you that WGA members are prohibited under Working Rule 8 from performing writing services for, or optioning or selling literary material to, Millennium Pictures, Inc. (Millennium), or any affiliate thereof,” the union’s top executive officers stated in a Wednesday message to members. According to the union, the company is not a signatory to its 2023 contract, whose term is three years.

Moreover, the union leaders alleged, “The Guild has had to bring a significant number of claims against Millennium over the years for the company’s failure to pay writers initial compensation and residuals, as well as failure to pay writers within the timeframe established in the Mba.” As a result, “The Guild has...

Terminator Genisys (2015) – Wtf Happened to This Movie?
Image
This episode of Wtf Happened to This Horror Movie? is covering Terminator Genisys. Written by Mike Holtz, Narrated by Tyler Nichols, Edited by Victoria Verduzco, Produced by Andrew Hatfield and John Fallon, and Executive Produced by Berge Garabedian.

It’s very apropos that a franchise about timelines and time travel would continuously go back and try to erase their mistakes to begin anew. This is exactly what the Terminator franchise has done repeatedly in an attempt to find a worthy successor to what many consider the greatest action film of all time, Terminator 2: Judgement Day. Today’s film is more of a hodge podge of different ideas coming together to remake, reimagine, and give honor to, while getting rid of….you know what? It’s a mess. Here is Wtf Happened to Terminator Genisys.

For starters, who in the hell spells Genesis with a Y? Are you actively trying...

Drive Angry's Unmade Sequel Would Have Been Epic
Image
Patrick Lussier's 2011 film "Drive Angry" might belong to a genre hereby designated "neo-grindhouse." There was a wave of films in the late 2000s and early 2010s that sought to evoke the style or the content of a very specific type of exploitation movie that was popular in the 1970s. In addition to the Quentin Tarantino/Robert Rodriguez 2007 twofer "Grindhouse" and its spinoffs, films like "Redline," "The Man with the Iron Fists," "Turbo Kid," "Kung Fury," "Hatchet," "Torque," "Deathgasm," "House of the Devil," and "The Love Witch" popped up on the regular.

"Drive Angry" gleefully embraced its goofy, action/horror premise with aplomb. A dead race car driver named (sigh) John Milton (Nicolas Cage) escapes the clutches of Hell having stolen Satan's persona gun, a device called the Godkiller. On his tail is Satan's Accountant (William Fichtner), assigned with nabbing John and dragging him back to Hell. John,...

Amber Heard Beat 1 ‘Endgame’ Star to Bag Lead Role in a Nicolas Cage Film That Ended Up Breaking 1 Unwanted Box Office Record
Image
Amber Heard is known for portraying the iconic Mera role in the DC Extended Universe. While she got infamous attention due to her personal issues in a few years, her journey to stardom included several notable roles, one particular included her work with Nicolas Cage.

Amber Heard in Drive Angry | Summit Entertainment

The project in context is Drive Angry, a 2011 action project. One of the interesting facts about this movie involved Heard securing this role over an actress from the blockbuster Avengers: Endgame movie. The actress is none other than Brie Larson, who portrays the role of Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel in the MCU.

Amber Heard Secured the Drive Angry Role Over Avengers: Endgame Actress Brie Larson

Released in 2011, Drive Angry features acclaimed actor Nicolas Cage as Milton, a vengeful father who escapes from Hell to save his granddaughter from a cult. As for his co-star, Amber Heard, she plays Piper,...

Remembering That Time Nicolas Cage Battled Satanists in ‘Drive Angry’
Image
What is it with Nicolas Cage and evil cults? From the trashy thrills of his Wicker Man remake to the stylized hyper-violence of Mandy, the veteran actor has taken out countless crazed believers throughout the course of his long and varied career, and I don’t think he’s about to stop anytime soon. That being said, there’s only one Nick Cage flick where he gets into a shoot-out with homicidal Satanists while continuing to have sex with a waitress – and that would 2011’s underrated neo-grindhouse thriller, Drive Angry – a near-perfect example of Horror Adjacent cinema.

Hot off the success of 2009’s surprisingly profitable My Bloody Valentine 3D (which I’d argue is one of the best horror remakes of the 2000s), director Patrick Lussier wanted to keep experimenting with new 3D technology in a more action-packed cinematic playground. Inspired by the sleazy exploitation flicks of the 70s (as...

Blumhouse Reportedly Sets Next Horror Reboot With 1981 Cult Classic Slasher 15 Years After Last Entry
Image
Blumhouse is reportedly rebooting My Bloody Valentine, following their trend of previous horror franchise revivals with Halloween and The Exorcist. No director, writer, or story details have been revealed yet for the reported reboot, which comes 15 years after the last remake. With the studio's recent reboot efforts proving underwhelming, a back-to-basics approach for My Bloody Valentine could correct this course.

Having already brought back Halloween and The Exorcist for modern audiences, Blumhouse may have found their next horror reboot in the form of My Bloody Valentine. The original 1981 Canadian slasher cult classic revolved around a small town being terrorized by a miner for revenge for the deaths of other miners around the February holiday. The movie would later get a 3D remake in 2009 from Drive Angry duo Patrick Lussier and Todd Farmer, which garnered farely better reviews than the original and was a box office hit, grossing over $100 million against its $14 million production budget.

Nicolas Cage's Forgotten Thriller Gets Second Life On Netflix 11 Years Later
Image
The Frozen Ground starring Nicolas Cage recently made it to Netflix's Global Top 10 with 3.4 million views. The film only received a 61% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, struggling at the box office with a budget of $27.2 million. Despite a lukewarm reception, The Frozen Ground's resurgence on Netflix may be linked to increasing interest in Nicolas Cage.

The Frozen Ground has been given a new chance on Netflix as it reaches the Global Top 10. The Frozen Ground is a 2013 Nicolas Cage thriller wherein the actor plays an Alaska State Trooper who teams up with a young woman who escaped a serial killer in order to capture the murderer. In addition to Cage, the movie features a leading cast including Vanessa Hudgens, John Cusack, Dean Norris, Gia Mantegna, Robert Forgit, Brad William Henke, Michael McGrady, Katherine Lanasa, and Ryan ONan.

The Only Major Actors Still Alive From The Rockford Files
Image
As far as investigators go, Jim Rockford (James Garner) is a bit of a departure from the mostly-polished (Columbo excepted) detectives of television's first decade. A slouchily dressed detective who lived in a trailer and served time in San Quentin, Rockford was cool — if not always collected. "The Rockford Files" ran for six seasons on NBC beginning in 1974 and was later resurrected for a series of '90s TV movies. In that time, audiences were introduced not only to Rockford, but to a cast of supporting characters including his truck driver dad Rocky (Noah Beery Jr.), LAPD pal Becker (Joe Santos), and the con artist Angel (Stuart Margolin).

Garner passed away in 2014, and only a few "Rockford Files" castmates are still with us today. Those who are still around include notable recurring guest stars like famously mustachioed "Blue Bloods" star Tom Selleck, Egot-winning multi-hyphenate Rita Moreno, and "Happy Gilmore" director...

The Dracula 2000 episode of Wtf Happened to This Horror Movie? was Written by Emilie Black, Narrated by Adam Walton, Edited by Victoria Verduzco, Produced by Andrew Hatfield and John Fallon, and Executive Produced by Berge Garabedian.

Horror in the year 2000 was something. Yeah, that’s it, it was something. A lot of it happened, some of it was great, some of it was good, and some of it, not so much. Actually, if the internet crowd is to be believed, the early 2000s, especially the year 2000 were abysmal for horror. We did get a few memorable films released in 2000 like the first Final Destination film, Cherry Falls, Ginger Snaps, The Cell, and American Psycho. However, the scales had some serious bad on the other side to balance it all out. Films like Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2, Hellraiser: Inferno, Christina’s House, and Dracula 2000 (watch it Here) came and...

Hypnotic: Robert Rodriguez / Ben Affleck thriller has received a digital release
Image
Director Robert Rodriguez‘s action thriller Hypnotic, which stars Ben Affleck (Air), has taken a bumpy road on its way out into the world. It was delayed by the pandemic, shut down on three separate occasions, mixed up in an insurance lawsuit, and its main financier and distributor crumbled while it was filming. The movie spent two years in post-production, without a domestic distributor in place. It finally reached theatres earlier this month, courtesy of Ketchup Entertainment – and now it has received a digital release on all major platforms! For example, Hypnotic can be viewed on Amazon at This Link.

Scripted by Rodriguez (Machete) and Max Borenstein (Kong: Skull Island), Hypnotic sees Affleck taking on the role of a detective who finds himself spiralling down a rabbit hole while investigating a series of reality-bending crimes mysteriously connected to his missing daughter. Aided by a gifted psychic, he is pursued by...

Nicolas Cage Shares Earliest Memory of Being ‘in Utero’: ‘I Could See Faces in the Dark’
Image
Nicolas Cage is carrying the unbearable weight of an in utero memory.

The Oscar winner and “Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent” star shared on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” that his earliest memory is as an unborn child and seeing “faces in the dark” of his mother’s womb.

“Listen, I know this sounds really far out and I don’t know if it’s real or not,” Cage said during the “Colbert Questionert” rapid-fire Q&a, “but sometimes I think I can go all the way back to in-utero and feeling like I could see faces in the dark or something.”

He continued, “I know that sounds powerfully abstract, but that somehow seems like maybe it happened. Now that I am no longer in utero, I would have to imagine it was perhaps vocal vibrations resonating through to me at that stage. That’s going way back. I don’t know.

Nicolas Cage Admits He Took ‘Crummy’ Roles to Pay Back $6 Million in Debt
Image
Nicolas Cage is standing by even his “crummy” movies that helped combat his staggering debts.

The Oscar-winner revealed on CBS’ “60 Minutes” that he was $6 million in debt after the real estate market crashed.

“I was over-invested in real estate. The real estate market crashed, and I couldn’t get out in time,” Cage said. “I paid them all back, but it was about $6 million. I never filed for bankruptcy.”

Cage continued, “It was dark, sure,” but he admitted that continuously working took his mind off things.

“Work was always my guardian angel,” the “Renfield” star said. “It may not have been blue chip, but it was still work. Even if the movie ultimately is crummy, they know I’m not phoning it in, that I care every time.”

Cage previously reflected on his multiple direct-to-video movies during that era, telling GQ in 2022, “When I was doing four movies a year,...

On the drama side, the limited series “Love and Death” premieres on April 27. It’s based on the true story of Candy (Elizabeth Olsen) and Pat Montgomery (Patrick Fugit) and Betty (Lily Rabe) and Allan Gore (Jesse Plemons) – two churchgoing couples enjoying their small-town Texas life… until an extramarital affair leads somebody to pick up an axe.

Henry Winkler stars as Cousineau, Barry’s acting teacher and the man forced to confront the reality of his former student.

Watch the “Barry” season 4 trailer:

Another crime story will come to HBO Max in April, although this one is based on a true story. “Love & Death” revolves around the murder of Betty Gore (played by Lily Rabe) in a small Texas town in 1980. Her husband Alan (Jesse Plemons) has an affair with Candy (Elizabeth Olsen), who attends their church. Suddenly, the thrills turn deadly. Candy picks up an ax, whacks her rival over 40 times, and then claims self-defense. The new...

Rob Zombie's Halloween Timeline Still Had At Least One More Story To Tell
Image
The timeline of the "Halloween" movies is as clear as mud. At last count, David Gordon Green's 2022 film "Halloween Ends" will be the fourth film in its particular continuity, stemming from the 1978 original, but then skipping straight to the 2018 film. The "Halloween" series also did this in 1998 with the release of "Halloween H20: Twenty Years Later," which stemmed from the 1981 film "Halloween II". "Halloween III," incidentally, took place outside of the Michael Myers timeline, and "Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers" ignored "Halloween III." Apart from John Carpenter's 1978 film, it seems, pretty much all the other "Halloween" sequels have been discarded at some point.

Also existing in its own pocket dimension is a pair of "Halloween" movies written and directed by Rob Zombie. In Zombie's rendition of the Michael Myers story, Michael (Tyler Mane) grew up in an abusive household, and a very particular set of...

As they refine a final draft, he eagerly awaits Cage’s reaction as the producer thinks they have a winner on their hands.

Sony Triumphs as ‘Uncharted’ and ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ Rule VOD Charts
Image
Tom Holland is having quite a moment on the VOD charts right now. “Uncharted” (19.99) leads at Vudu and iTunes, while the actor’s other blockbuster, “Spider-Man: No Way Home” is #1 at Google Play. Sony’s dominance of this week’s PVOD charts, with newly released “Uncharted” and long running “Spider-Man: No Way Home” (5.99) splitting the #1 spots on the three charts we follow, reinforces two narratives.

First, not having an in-house streaming service need not deprive a studio from reaping strong at-home revenues. Second, and critical for theaters as they recover, is that a long window is no hindrance to reaping the benefits of initial high return PVOD prices.

Contrast that with “The Batman” (Warner Bros./24.99). After two full weeks out on PVOD and on HBO Max (free there for subscribers), along with an HBO cable showing, the biggest 2022 grossing film fell to #3 at Vudu, and #6 at both iTunes and Google Play.

Nicolas Cage at an event for Hell Driver (2011)
The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent Review
Nicolas Cage at an event for Hell Driver (2011)
When The Irishman innovated de-aging effects in 2019, few could have foreseen its use to resurrect the batshit, snake skinned Nicolas Cage of 1990’s Wild at Heart. Fewer still would have expected this iteration of Nicolas Cage to appear on screen next to… Nicolas Cage.Seeing the Nick Cage of 2022 argue, fight and even make out with his 26-year-old self are the most outrageous meta moments of The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, Tom Gormican’s smartly realised buddy film.

Now, Cage has long been one of Hollywood’s leading idiosyncrasies, building a lengthy filmography that ranges from the bargain bin to the Academy Awards. Yet this filmwould not have worked 10 years ago, even though it draws on his ‘90s blockbusters such as The Rock and Face/Off.

This is because the previous decade or so saw a new kind of appreciation for Nicolas Cage. Around 2010/11, the actor began to indulge his...
