The Brits have been on a generational run, making some of the best television shows and movies out there. Their content is raw, unfiltered, and makes your stomach churn with each passing scene. Over the years, they have gained a reputation as the go-to source for quality entertainment.
One such show taking rounds on the internet for its gripping story and brilliant portrayal of young minds navigating crime and broken family dynamics is airing on Netflix under the name Adolescence. If you still haven’t seen it, know that Stephen Graham is also part of the show, which itself should speak volumes about the miniseries.
The man doesn’t have a bad movie or show under his name, be it his acting as a raging chef in Boiling Point or his popular role in Line of Duty—all of them have been masterpieces. Now, with the release of the new Netflix project,...

Peter Craig — that's one of those people you may not recognize by name, but you'd absolutely recognize by their work. Especially for fans of some of the biggest movies to hit Hollywood in recent years. Craig either wrote the script or helped develop the story for Gladiator II, The Town, Top Gun: Maverick, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, and Bad Boys for Life. And then there's The Batman, which he co-wrote with Matt Reeves. Fans of the caped crusader are stoked for The Batman II, to put it mildly, and so is Craig. However, despite what some internet sources might say, Craig moved on from the DC franchise in order to create his own series, Dope Thief, which hits Apple TV+ this week.
"I'm listed as working on [The Batman II] when I'm not. That's Matt's thing," Craig told MovieWeb in a recent interview. "I was doing [Dope Thief], and so that might be an IMDb...

While everyone’s busy talking about Blake Lively for one reason and one reason only, let’s not forget her bold attempt to break into the spy game. With The Rhythm Section, Lively set out to ditch the usual suave agents like James Bond and Jason Bourne and bring a fresh face to the genre, her own.

Armed with disguises, action scenes, and plenty of brooding stares, she tried to carve out her place in the world of espionage. Unfortunately, her mission didn’t exactly go as planned, the film struggled to make an impact, leaving Lively’s bid for spy supremacy more of a whisper than a bang.
How did The Rhythm Section miss the beat?
The Rhythm Section had all the right ingredients to be the next big revenge thriller, but instead, it crashed and burned.

Dope Thief showrunner Peter Craig has quietly been one of Hollywood’s go-to writers for crime drama the last 15 years.
In 2010, Craig transitioned from a crime novelist to an in-demand screenwriter thanks to his co-writing credit on Ben Affleck’s crime thriller The Town. Craig then showed his versatility by adapting Suzanne Collins’ Mockingjay into The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 and Part 2, before bringing his own crime novel, Blood Father, to the big screen in 2016. Since then, he’s collected a co-writing credit on Bad Boys for Life, as well as story credits on Top Gun: Maverick and Gladiator II. But he’s always returned to his bread and butter in the crime genre, most notably as the co-writer of Matt Reeves’ The Batman.

Apple TV+ has multiple offerings this year, and the Brian Tyree Henry starrer Dope Thief is one of the most anticipated. The crime drama is based on the debut novel of the same name from Dennis Tafoya and follows two con-men who pose as DEA officers and rip off houses.
The series is created by Peter Craig, who is known for his screenwriting work on Top Gun: Maverick and other films. He mentioned that the series is a near-faithful adaptation until the first half of the novel, at least, and then takes some creative liberties. However, should the series be canceled after the first season, a whole chunk of the novel will be left unmade.

Plot: Based on Dennis Tafoya’s book of the same name, “Dope Thief” follows long-time Philly friends and delinquents who pose as DEA agents to rob an unknown house in the countryside, only to have their small-time grift become a life-and-death enterprise, as they unwittingly reveal and unravel the biggest hidden narcotics corridor on the Eastern seaboard.
Review: The definition of what constitutes a “crime drama” has evolved over the years as more nuanced takes on the subject matter have given us fantastic projects ranging from The Wire on the small screen to The Town on the big screen. Peter Craig, the co-writer of Ben Affleck’s The Town and The Batman, Gladiator II, Bad Boys For Life, and Top Gun: Maverick, knows a little about delivering portraits of criminals who are more than the crimes they perpetrate. Was Will Smith and Eva Mendes’ on-screen Kiss in Hitch almost a disaster?(Photo Credit – YouTube)
During an interview on The Oprah Winfrey Show, Mendes spilled the hilarious backstory of their kissing scene. Nervous before filming, she calmed herself with a tuna fish sandwich, extra onions, and a side of Doritos—bad move. Smith, known for his charm and professionalism, was reportedly not fond of the scent. Mendes admitted, “I never asked you how it was?” to which Smith, ever the gentleman, replied, “It was wonderful.”
The moment became one of the film’s funniest behind-the-scenes stories. Mendes, realizing her mistake, popped some Altoids before the scene resumed. The minty fix worked, and their kiss went down in rom-com history. But for a moment, Hitch almost had an unintentional blooper reel addition.

“Bad Boys for Life” filmmakers Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah are set to direct a film about the tragic true story of Sanda Dia, a Black student who died in 2018 after enduring a violent fraternity hazing ritual at an elite university in Belgium.
Brussels-based production company Komoko, founded by Nabil Ben Yadir and Marc Goyens, is producing the film.
Penned by El Arbi and Fallah, the script was inspired by the books penned by Dia’s father, Ousmane (Papis) Dia, “ze hebben mijn zoon vermoord” (“They Killed My Son”), and “De doop die leidde tot de dood” (“The Baptism That Led to Death”) by journalist Pieter Huyberechts.
Dia was 20 years old when he died in the hazing ritual at the Catholic University of Leuven, where he was forced by members of an elite – and mostly white — fraternity to swallow a live goldfish, and drink large amount of fish oil...

Sunday Am: In a motion picture industry crunched by streaming, where studios are watching their ledgers closer than ever, Super Bowl weekend might be worth the spend to drop a tentpole trailer during the big game ($8M for 30 seconds of time this year), but it sure as hell isn’t a place to open a movie anymore.
True, more often than not, Super Bowl weekend is the frame where titles open to single digits, and studios have used the frame over and over again as a dumping ground. This year wasn’t any different.
However, studios have been able to bust through in the past with horror movies and female skewing titles. The biggest opening title ever during Super Bowl weekend remains Disney’s Hannah Montana and Miley Cyrus: The Best of Both Worlds Concerts back in 2008 with $31.1M. The last time a No. 1 movie crossed $30M over Super Bowl...

Bad Boys fans have plenty to look forward to, even if it isn't everything they want.
Per Max, February 1 will mark the first day that both 1995's Bad Boys and 2003's Bad Boys II will be available for streaming on the platform. Unfortunately for fans, neither the third nor fourth film in the franchise will be available on Max, leaving subscribers without the complete set of films for viewing in one place.

The weekend did not unfold quite as Blumhouse and Universal had planned. With the release of director Leigh Whannell's "Wolf Man," the studios probably figured they had a slam dunk hit on their hands. Unfortunately, that's not the way things shook out. Whannell's latest majorly underperformed, falling well short of expectations. Rather than top the charts, it had to settle for third place in 2025's first major surprise.
"Wolf Man" opened to an estimated $10.5 million domestically, which was below even the most modest projections heading into the weekend. Overseas audiences aren't going to be much help here either, as the film opened soft internationally with just $4.8 million. Blumhouse tends to make movies on the cheap, but this one carries a $25 million price tag before marketing. Now, the monster flick is facing a steep uphill battle to profitability.
As the weekend approached, "Wolf Man" was looking at a debut in the $20 million range.

Disney’s Mufasa: The Lion King performed well during the slow Martin Luther King Jr. holiday weekend, making about $16.5 million over four days. Even though the cartoon prequel has been out for five weeks, it is doing well because new movie releases are not performing as strongly during this normally busy time.
In the last ten years, excluding 2021’s pandemic-affected numbers, the box office is expected to make just $101.2 million from all movies over the long weekend. This is a big drop compared to past years when ticket sales for the holiday weekend often exceeded $200 million.
Two new releases had a hard time becoming popular. One of Them Days, starring Sza and Keke Palmer, is expected to earn between $14 and $15 million, placing it in second place. The film received positive reviews (96% on Rotten Tomatoes) and an A- score from audiences on CinemaScore. However, its opening weekend is still small compared...

Bollywood Mascot: Historically, January has been viewed as the “dumping ground” for movies that studios believe may struggle at the box office. Positioned between the holiday blockbuster season and the spring’s big releases, January has often been home to films with limited marketing, niche appeal, or low expectations. However, January 2025 is shaping up to be different, with an exciting slate of movies aiming to break this trend.
A Promising January Lineup
January 2025 features an array of highly anticipated films that promise to deliver diverse genres and captivating storytelling. These releases include high-concept sci-fi thrillers, compelling dramas, and even family-friendly animations, marking a departure from the usual fare audiences associate with the month.
Why January’s Reputation Matters
The perception of January as a “dumping ground” stems from its proximity to award season, where films not considered contenders often receive less attention. Additionally, post-holiday fatigue and tighter consumer spending have...

He will be succeeded by Adam Bergerman, EVP and General Sales Manager at Sony.

Smith joined Sony in 1989 as western district manager for TriStar Pictures, having previously worked at 20th Century Fox on the studio side and at Mann Theatres and United Artists on the exhibitor side.
In 2000, he was named SVP and western division manager for Sony Pictures Releasing, and in 2011, he was appointed EVP and general sales manager, overseeing domestic sales for all Sony Pictures films.

Will Smith’s Bad Boys franchise gained an unexpected comeback with Bad Boys For Life in 2020, and as well as spurring on another sequel, 2024’s Bad Boys: Ride or Die, the success has also seen the original movies in the series gaining a new audience. Now, 30 years after its release, the original Bad Boys is topping the Tubi chart.
Released in 1995 and directed by Michael Bay, Bad Boys was the kind of big, brash action movie that you would expect from the always spectacular helmer of the original Transformers movies, Pearl Harbor, and Armageddon. Of course, at the time of Bad Boys’ release, Bay was known for directing commercials and music videos, including the Beauty and the Beast inspired epic for the mighty Meat Loaf’s I’d Do Anything for Love (But I Won’t Do That). January is a historically slow month at the box office. Aside from awards season movies expanding into wider release, there usually aren't too many big films to draw sizable crowds. Of course, that can open the door for the occasional underdog to win the day. Case in point, "Den of Thieves 2: Pantera" is the first new hit of 2025, as the sequel topped the charts this past weekend. Gerard Butler's Big Nick and O'Shea Jackson Jr.'s Donnie still have the juice, it turns out.
The sequel, which was written and directed by Christian Gudegast, opened to $15.5 million domestically, essentially matching the opening of the original "Den of Thieves" ($15.2 million). That's a pretty impressive audience retention, considering that the first film reached theaters in 2018, a full seven years ago. That was also a very different time for the industry, pre-pandemic. Hence, it's nice to see that a mid-budget action...

For fans of the 1990s and 2000s, Bad Boys is one of the most iconic action franchises. The first two movies were directed by Michael Bay, melding high-octane firefights and gun chases with unfiltered comedy. The franchise underwent a revival in 2020 thanks to new directors, Adil & Bilall.
Now, the fourth movie, Bad Boys: Ride or Die, brings Will Smith's Mike and Martin Lawrence's Marcus back for yet another explosive chapter. In the process, the duo unearth a nasty conspiracy that trails back to their early years with the Miami Police Department. It leads to a chaotic finale that's filled with a lot of death and destruction.

Can the U.S./Canada box office manage to rise to $10 billion this year? That would be an increase of about 12 percent over 2024. Still, that number would put us far behind pre-covid financial total (and even more so in actual attendance).
At least the first month of the new year should start things off in the right direction. Aided by strong holdovers, along with some potential help among the new wide releases, January could see grosses around $600 million.
While that would be weak historically, it would still be about 16 percent better than 2024, as the month typically adjusted for inflation has grossed $1 billion or more.
One billion bucks is about what December managed, right at our projection. A combination of strong November films led by “Wicked” (Universal) and “Moana 2” (Disney), then buttressed by “Sonic the Hedgehog 3” (Paramount), “Mufasa: The Lion King” (Disney), and “Nosferatu” (Focus) among Christmas releases, the...

Classic action films Bad Boys and Bad Boys II are coming to Tubi, starting on Jan. 1, 2025. The film follows two Miami narcotics officers, Marcus Burnett (Martin Lawrence) and Mike Lowrey (Will Smith) as they investigate stolen drugs while protecting a woman (Téa Leoni), who witnessed a murder. It had all the signatures of a Michael Bay movie: Over-the-top action, golden hues, sunsets, rockin' soundtrack, and more. The producers were Jerry Bruckheimer and the late Don Simpson, two action heavyweights from the 1980s and 90s.
When Bad Boys premiered on April 7, 1995, it featured an unknown director in Bay, who worked on commercials and music videos. Fresh Prince was a beloved show for Smith, but was close to the end of its run. The bigger star was Lawrence, whose Martin was a true ratings hit. The film debuted at $15.5 million on a $19 million budget and ended its run with a respectable $141 million worldwide.

Will Smith is back on topof the Netflix US movie chart. The actor, who in recent years saw his career take a dip thanks to his Oscars night outburst at Chris Rock back in 2022, has followed up his streaming success at Netflix with the hit sequel Bad Boys: Ride or Die with a chart-topping display from his 2015 crime thriller, Focus.
Directed by Glenn Ficarra and John Requa, Focus stars Smith alongside the ever-popular Barbie star Margot Robbie, who appear as con-artist Nicky and amateur swindler Jess, respectively. Focus synopsis reads, While Nicky teaches Jess the tricks of the trade, the pair become romantically involved; but, when Jess gets uncomfortably close, Nicky ends their relationship. The 2024 box office is on track to break a recent Hollywood trend following the exceptional box office of 2023. As of early November, only two 2024 releases have broken the $1 billion global box office barrier, Inside Out 2 ($1.697 billion) and Deadpool & Wolverine ($1.337 billion), which is consistent with 2023's global box office led by Barbie ($1.446 billion) and The Super Mario Bros. Movie ($1.362 billion). 2024's Despicable Me 4 ($967.5 million) is essentially the Oppenheimer ($975.6 million) of this year's boss office results with nearly identical numbers. However, there is more than meets the eye about the 2024 domestic box office following 2023's roughly $9 billion revenue.
While 2023 has its fair share of box office bombs, the year as a whole featured an incredible slate of franchise blockbusters and sequels that helped to inflate its year-end revenue, which was up 30.5% compared to 2022. The U.S. domestic box office reached $9 billion in 2023 for the first time since 2019, which accrued $11.3 billion by comparison.

Martin Lawrence is set to develop a sequel to the 1999 film Blue Streak, which had come on the heels of his success with Michael Bay's Bad Boys. The original film, which co-starred Luke Wilson, Dave Chappelle, Peter Greene, Nicole Parker, John Hawkes, Octavia Spencer, Nicole Ari Parker, and William Forsythe, followed a jewel thief who attempts to retrieve a diamond he left behind at a police station, eventually pretending to be an officer, only to inadvertently get partnered with a real detective. Blue Streak has generally been considered a fan-favorite among Lawrence's filmography.
Now, a quarter of a century later, Deadline reports that a Blue Streak sequel is in early development through Lawrence's production company Run Tel Dat, with Cole Maliska currently writing the screenplay.
