The film cost $2500 to make, including $1000 for prosthetics, $80 for the semi-truck, $160 for the hotel room, and the rest was costumes and craft.

The film came from a fake trailer inspired by Grindhouse during the twins' disappointing time at a poorly run film school in Vancouver. When the measly $200 a short budget was taken away from them for their final project, the twins decided to write, direct, produce, star in, and do the stunt work for their own project out of spite. The title 'Dead Hooker in a Trunk' came from Jen Soska wanting something as cool as Jason Eisener's 'Hobo With A Shotgun.'

The scene by the campfire took three days to shoot because park rangers kept patrolling the area, forcing the filmmakers to grab all their supplies and run.

Following in their hero, Robert Rodriguez's footsteps, the twins started their own production company called Twisted Twins Production on December 11, 2008.

C.J. Wallis not only played Goody Two-Shoes in the film, but also edited, shot, sound tracked, marketed, and did all post on the film.
