    And Full of Energy

George Lopez, sometimes billed as "America's Mexican" has become a familiar figure on the popular culture scene, so familiar, perhaps, that his presence has bred a certain level of contempt. This show, filmed at a time his talk show was still running, no doubt suffered a certain level of competition with himself, as he cannibalized several of his routines here from the show.

But put Mr. Lopez in front of a large, enthusiastic audience, and he shows a level of passion and energy that is not usually visible on the TV screen. As he ranges over his usual issues of ethnic conflict, from the Sotomayer confirmation hearings that had just concluded to the right way to pronounce 'tortilla', he is everything a stand-up comic should be. The result is a most enjoyable show.

    • Trivia
In this special, George Lopez badmouths Chips (1977) star Erik Estrada. According to Lopez, it's because Estrada snubbed him in his own neighborhood when Lopez was 17 and Estrada was filming an episode of CHiPs near Lopez's neighborhood. Throughout the years, Lopez has constantly publicly criticized Estrada for it, calling him an egomaniac who is rude and cruel to his fans. Furthermore, Lopez swore never to do that to his fans.

However, in 2010, George Lopez was accused of being extremely rude to a fan and refusing to take a picture with her. The fan turned out to be a Mexican radio show personality and she took the incident to live radio:

Mexican radio show personality, La Vozalona (Marlene Quinto), as part of the Mexican radio show, "El Show de Don Cheto", said that she had met George Lopez at a Cuban restaurant in which she was eating with a friend and when she saw that he had finished eating and seemed on his way out, she approached him near the exit of the restaurant while he was taking a picture with a fan and told him that she wanted a picture with him, to which she said he became very rude and disrespectful and told her she had to wait and that "even Mexicans have manners and say please". Confused, La Vozalona said she told Lopez she was a big fan and one of his many followers on Twitter, to which she said that he told her to shut up and take the picture already. La Vozalona said she told Lopez to stop being rude, because she could "burn" him and that he responded, "What, you think I care?". A few days later, she went live with the incident.

This was very surprising for many and many considered Lopez a big hypocrite for the incident, considering he's been criticizing and ridiculing Erik Estrada for many years for not shaking his hand and refusing to sign an autograph when Lopez was 17.

What's more, Lopez still badmouths Estrada. Even up until 2015, he told the Huffington Post about Estrada, "I'll fuck that motherfucker up" and in the same year, during an interview with BJPENN.COM Radio, he told the interviewer, "I'm going to fuck Erik Estrada up".

In 2011, as a guest on a Miami radio show, The Enrique Santos Show, Estrada was told by the show's host that Lopez constantly made fun of him in his comedy routines and spoke ill of him, to which Estrada claimed that he had challenged Lopez to a fight when he met him for the first time at a church carnival he and Estrada's wife were running and that Lopez backed down, stating, "I'm a comedian, not a fighter". Estrada also told the show's host that he wasn't worried about Lopez and that he was done with him, because Lopez was doomed anyway because he had accrued enough bad karma from cheating on his wife with prostitutes, after she saved his life by donating a kidney to him, after he nearly died from kidney failure.
