Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi’s Thandel has lost steam and is already showing signs of exhaustion at the Indian box office. It’s one of those films which failed to capitalize after a solid start. Yesterday, it entered the third week, and expectedly, it earned a dismal number on the third Friday, which hinted at no major growth during the overall weekend. The Chandoo Mondeti directorial was released in three languages: Telugu, Hindi, and Tamil. Out of all languages, only the original Telugu version is running in theatres, and that, too, is on the verge of wrapping up its theatrical run. On the third Friday, i.e., day 15, the film recorded an average occupancy throughout the day.

Morning shows began with 16% occupancy, slightly dropping for afternoon shows.

On its 9th day, the Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi starrer earned 2.39 crores at the box office when it comes to the day-wise collection. This was a spike of 11% since the film had amassed 2.15 crores on its previous day. The total India net collection of the film now stands at 53.95 crores.

Including the taxes, the overseas collection of Thandel comes to 63.66 crores. The movie earned around 11 crores when it comes to the overseas collection. The worldwide collection of the movie now comes to 74.66 crores.

Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi’s Thandel is performing well at the box office, and despite witnessing a drop on Monday, the romantic period drama has earned a total of 40.85 crore at the box office in four days. It is now inching towards the 50 crore mark and might touch it before the second weekend arrives.

The major earnings have come through the Telugu version, with the Hindi version of the film turning a complete washout, earning only 37 lakh, and the Tamil version earning only 33 lakh.

On Tuesday, April 12, Chaitanya was stopped by the Hyderabad traffic police and had to pay a fine for using tinted windows on his car. The actor was travelling in a Toyota Vellfire when the Jubilee Hills traffic police stopped him.  Chaitanya was informed that he would have to pay the fine for using tinted windows, which is against the law. He immediately paid a fine of Rs 700, the police said. A picture of the actor photographed with the police has been doing the rounds on social media.  Last week, actor Allu Arjun was also fined for using tinted windows on his car. Allu Arjun was fined Rs 700 and a challan was issued to the actor for using tinted window shields on his Range Rover SUV.

Exclusive: ZEE5, the subscription service specializing in South Asian film and TV, has revealed the content that has performed best on its platform in the U.S. since its launch stateside in June 2021.

The three top languages have been Hindi, Telugu and Bengali. Across those languages, the best-performing titles are:

Hindi: Abhishek Bachchan crime thriller film Bob Biswas, and Salman Khan action pic Antim – The Final Truth.

Telugu: supernatural drama Bangarraju and romantic comedy Varudu Kavaanelu.

Bengali: family drama Tonic and romantic comedy Jodi Kintu Tobuo.

The U.S. has been the key international territory for the service since the launch last year, driving more than 40% of total international subscriptions. ZEE5 said it had continued to grow 15% month-on-month in both viewers and subscriptions in the territory.

As of December 21, it had 101.9 million global monthly active users, and 9.6 million daily active users.
