The 15 Worst Movies On Amazon Prime Video, Ranked
Image
There are tens of thousands of movies available on Amazon Prime Video, and, when you're talking about such an ample offering of titles, it's statistically inevitable that a few dozens or hundreds of them will be less than stellar. But what are the absolute worst movies you can cue up on Prime Video right now?

To answer that question, we've carefully scoured the streaming service's U.S. catalog to find the most dreadful, obscene, unwatchable garbage currently floating about in it. A vanishing few of these are at least entertaining for their ridiculous trashiness, but, for the most part, these are movies that will most likely either bore you to death or send you into a stunned, horrified stupor, with that likelihood increasing exponentially as you move down the ranking. Don't say we didn't warn you.

'And Just Like That' Loses Top Spot on HBO Max Following Cancellation
Image
Days after HBO confirmed And Just Like Thatwill end with Season 3, the Sex and the Citysequel haslost its #1 spot on HBO’s streaming charts. Despite a strong global presence on the platform throughout July and early August 2025, the show has slipped to #3 in the U.S., and has exited the Top 5 entirely in countries including Argentina, Georgia, and Armenia.

And Just Like That is currently sitting at the #2 spot on HBO’s Top 10 TV Shows as of August 7. The show, which stars Sarah Jessica Parker as Carrie Bradshaw, trails behind Julian Fellowes’ period drama, The Gilded Age. Adult Swim’s Rick and Morty sits at #3 and is building steady momentum. Despite the drop, though, And Just Like That remains a dominant title across several other regions.

The show still holds the #1 spot in key markets such as Spain, Sweden, Portugal, Poland, and Norway. The Gilded Age, however, has claimed the...

Kenneth From 30 Rock Starred In A Short-Lived Adult Swim Show From Conan O'Brien
Image
Jack McBrayer's performance as Kenneth the Page on "30 Rock" is immortal because his indefatigable enthusiasm was the heart of a show that ruthlessly pursued each and every joke it could sink its teeth into.

The performance made Jack McBrayer the go-to man for wholesome, purehearted weirdos on TV, which is why Conan O'Brien thought it would be funny to send him into the meanest, cruelest place on the planet: Chicago's Wiener's Circle, a rough and tumble hole in the wall where employees and customers scream insults and expletives at one another. Poor Jack was no match for their negativity, but luckily he didn't come alone.

Enter: Triumph the Insult Comic Dog and his iconic cigar. Triumph, a rottweiler hand puppet performed by Robert Smigel with a seemingly never ending encyclopedia of insults, Triumph is one of Conan's most famous recurring characters and his journey into the depths of...

On being asked how he broke Bleach out of "Hulu jail," DeMarco stated, "It’s so weird the way things are working nowadays. You’ll be told something is a definite no, forever, and then five minutes later it’s like, 'Oh, we changed our mind.

"It Finally Happened": Stardew Valley Player Showcases An Adorable Moment '11 Years' In The Making
Image
After quite some time, one Stardew Valley player saw a rare sight — their ducks swimming in a pond. Ducks in Stardew Valley are a popular animal on the farm for players to pet and cultivate, but they rarely swim, making this a big moment for the players waiting for their ducks to act like ducks.

Redditor RikkertPaul posted a picture of their rare find on the Stardew Valley subreddit, much to the acclaim of the rest of the community. Ducks have been able to swim in the farm's ponds since Stardew Valley Update 1.5, but they strangely don't wade in the water often. However, the ducks don't need to swim to thrive on the farm, but fans certainly love to see the ducks lounge in the pond.

It finally happend after 11 years...

"Out Here Feeling Like A Tool": Stardew Valley Player Is A Tad Underdressed For The Flower Festival
Image
One Stardew Valley farmer was significantly underdressed for the town's Flower Dance Festival, leading to a discussion about clothing and fitting in. Stardew Valley is a cozy farming sim that revolves largely around growing crops, expanding the farmland, and raising various farm animals. However, the game also has players interacting with and forming relationships with the residents of nearby Pelican Town, and one of the ways to do so is by engaging in local events and activities.

A Stardew Valley fan who goes by oldeluke on Reddit tried to fit in by attending the annual Spring Flower Dance Festival. The attempt fell a little flat when they arrived at the festival only to find everyone dressed in matching fancy outfits while their character stuck out like a sore thumb in their everyday farming clothes. "Why doesn't the farmer get a matching outfit?" the Redditor asks. Luckily, fans in the comments...

Even As A Non-Horror Fan, There's One Horrific Anime I Think Is An Absolute Masterpiece
Image
When it comes to horror anime and manga, I'm not usually one to give it a look. Sure, I've read some classic Junji Ito works, but generally speaking, concepts like body horror tend to turn me off of a series. However, I was caught by surprise by one horror series, which carried with it some heavy philosophical ideas that gave it more depth than the average horror anime.

Way back in October 2015, I was watching Adult Swim's Toonami block when a new horror series, Parasyte -the maxim-, began to debut. I always try to give these kinds of series at least one episode to win me over, but I was more than prepared to be tuning out for the rest of the series. The story has a sci-fi bent to it, with the invasion of strange body-stealing aliens from space, so I was perhaps a bit more willing to...

10 Best Animated Sci-Fi Comedy TV Shows
Image
Animation has always been a great medium to explore the boundless potential of sci-fi stories, and there are plenty of comedy shows which seize the freedom of animation. Animation and sci-fi go hand-in-hand, since both are interested in that which can't be ordinarily depicted using Earthly means. Animated sci-fi comedies have the opportunity of using the entire universe as their setting.

Ever since The Jetsons premiered in the 1960s, there have been animated sci-fi comedies, although most of these were targeted toward children. The arrival of Futurama in 1999 was a massive game-changer. After The Simpsons ushered in a new dawn for adult-oriented animated comedy, Futurama set the tone for sci-fi comedies. Since then, the 21st century has seen a boom in animated sci-fi comedies, with new classics such as Rick and Morty pushing the genre forward.

Speak No Evil Silences Night Swim to Become Blumhouses Biggest Global Success of the Year
Image
Having already passed the $150 million mark at the 2024 Box Office, horror royalty Blumhouse Productions can safely call this year a success, even if their latest outing House of Spoils looks like a less-than-impressive final showing for 2024. However, despite their financial triumph, the critical reaction to many of this year's projects has fallen flat, with Night Swim in particular missing the mark with critics. Despite this, the film drew a global total of $54 million and exceeded expectations at a time of the year when horror usually struggles to succeed.

Uzumaki Episode 1 Ending, Explained
Image
The following contains spoilers for Uzumaki, Episode 1, now streaming on Max.

After several years of waiting and development, fans are now finally able to watch the Adult Swim anime adaptation of Junji Ito's acclaimed horror manga, Uzumaki. Fearfully focused on spirals and the many horrors that derive from them, the show so far is an incredible example of how to bring such a beloved work to life on the small screen. Of course, the horrors have only begun for the town of Kuruzo-cho.

The "cursed" Uzumaki anime's first episode is already setting the stage for the manga's scariest moments. Many of the images seen in the episode establish the surreal nature of the series, and it's certain to make fans smile as much as it terrifies them. Unfortunately for the citizens of Kuruzo-cho, there is a literal smoke signal for the evil of the spiral.

Christa Haley Captures an Intense Moment of Female Vulnerability in Her NYU Tisch Short ‘Swim Captain’
Image
One of my most vivid memories remains sitting on the floor of school bathrooms calmly guiding my friend through her first use of a tampon, it is something we were ‘taught’ with the use of vintage videos, unclear and useless medical demonstrations and quite frankly outdated suggestions from unsympathetic adults. Christa Haley’s Swim Captain affectingly highlights this universal aspect of womanhood with tenderness and clear cinematic vision. Upon digesting the NYU Graduate Film production restrictions and reflecting on her own very intimate and heartfelt struggles with being a young woman, Haley submerges us into a painful but empowering story of ultimately overcoming insecurity. Swim Captain is unexpectedly visually arresting considering its austere confined setting but Haley’s use of the space and adaptation of the location, combined with considered symbolic colours and cinematography takes it far beyond its locker room locale. X-men '97 Scores TCA Nomination For Outstanding New Program Alongside Shogun, Ripley & Baby Reindeer
Image
The Television Critics Association announced their picks for the best shows of the 2023-2024 TV season on Monday, and in a pleasantly surprising development, Marvel Studios' recent Disney+ series, X-Men '97, picked up two significant nominations.

The animated revival scored nominations for Outstanding New Program and Outstanding Achievement in Family Programming.

Though X-Men '97 proved to be a big hit with fans and critics alike, it's rare that an animated series - and a superhero animated series at that - would receive any TCA recognition, especially outside of the Children's Programming category.

What are the mutant heroes' chances of picking up the win? Well, the show is up against some heavy hitters such as Shōgun, Baby Reindeer and Ripley, so, fittingly, they are the underdogs here.

Toonami Rewind May Air More Retro Anime According to Adult Swim Creative Director
Image
Toonami, the long-running Saturday night action block on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim, recently expanded to Friday nights with a lineup of anime classics. According to the co-creator of Toonami, the return of Sailor Moon, Dragon Ball Z and Naruto could be just the beginning.

Jason DeMarco, the co-creator of Toonami and VP and Creative Director for on-air content at Adult Swim, revealed how the anime nostalgia block came to be on Bluesky. The @/swimpedia account on X (formerly Twitter) captured DeMarco's response. According to DeMarco, the idea to expand Toonami was Cartoon Network's, as the higher-ups were pleased with the performance of the Saturday night block. The idea of a throwback-themed block to the earlier days of Toonami was tossed around, to which the Toonami team responded favorably. If Toonami Rewind does well, more classic anime series could be added in the future.

Blumhouse & Jennifer's Body Writer's 2024 Horror Flops Land Streaming Release Dates
Image
Night Swim and Lisa Frankenstein have secured streaming release dates after lackluster theatrical runs. The Blumhouse horror movie received largely negative critical reviews, while the Kathryn Newton-led horror-comedy struggled to recoup its production budget. Despite their struggles, the two have a chance to be hits on Peacock thanks to Stephen King's positive recommendation for Night Swim and Lisa Frankenstein writer Diablo Cody's history of cult followings with Jennifer's Body.

After the two failed to spark much conversation in theaters, Night Swim and Lisa Frankenstein have landed streaming release dates. Blumhouse's first 2024 release revolved around a family moving into a house where the pool was home to a malevolent entity, while the horror-comedy from Jennifer's Body writer Diablo Cody offered a humorous twist on the Mary Shelley tale in which a lonely goth girl begins a relationship with a reanimated Victorian era corpse. Though Night Swim performed modestly at the box office,...

Night Swim (2024)
Night Swim coming to DVD and Blu-ray in April – 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray now confirmed too
Night Swim (2024)
The Blumhouse horror Night Swim is coming to DVD and Blu-ray in the UK, and it’s getting a 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray release.

A quiet-ish start to the year for Blumhouse in 2024, kicking off back in January with Night Swim, a horror thriller that didn’t quite manage to find an audience. It didn’t find much acclaim either, but still, it’s likely to pick up a bit of interest now it’s on its way to home formats.

Here in the UK, Night Swim has already made it to digital release, and it’s available for a premium price for the minute. But the physical media release is around the corner too, with 22nd April inked in for its disc debut.

Perhaps unsurprisingly given its weak-ish box office, Night Swim won’t be getting a 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray disc release. But it is nonetheless set to arrive on DVD and Blu-ray,...

Night Swim comes to digital, Blu-ray, and DVD with featurettes and commentary
Image
Soon after the release of M3GAN in January of 2023, it was announced that the team behind the film – Universal Pictures, Blumhouse Productions, and James Wan’s production company Atomic Monster – were aiming to replicate M3GAN‘s January theatrical success by setting a January 2024 release date for their supernatural thriller Night Swim. The movie didn’t manage to go over as well or get as much attention as M3GAN did, and was given a VOD release by the end of January. Now it’s set to receive a Collector’s Edition digital release tomorrow, March 12th, with a Blu-ray and DVD release to follow on April 9th – and these releases of Night Swim will be accompanied by featurettes and a commentary.

Bryce McGuire wrote and directed Night Swim, which is based on a short film he made with Rod Blackhurst back in 2014. The feature version of the story...

Jason Blum Explains Why Blumhouse Is Veering Toward Higher Budgets
Image
Blumhouse is well known for producing low-budget horror movies that pop at the box office. They're still very much in the low budget filmmaking game, especially compared to the many studio releases with astronomical budgets, but in recent years, there has been an uptick in the amount they spend on their theatrically released films. Back in the early days, they spent a reported $1.5 million on Insidious and a mere $3 million on Sinister. This year, Night Swim came with a reported $15 million price tag while their latest, Imaginary, cost about $10 million to produce.

Berlin: Sasha Nathwani On His Competition Title ‘Last Swim,’ Transitioning From Directing A-List Commercials To Narrative Features & The Struggles Of Indie UK Filmmaking
Image
With his debut feature Last Swim, an ambitious and quietly radical portrait of young life in London, Sasha Nathwani has achieved one of the most difficult tasks for a new filmmaker: cutting through with a festival audience.

Last Swim debuted last week at the Berlin Film Festival, where it opened the festival’s Generation sidebar. The pic has been one of the more buzzy titles here on the ground in the German capital and is considered a frontrunner to pick up some gold when awards are announced this weekend.

Set over a sweltering exam results day in London, the pic follows Ziba, a promising British-Iranian teen, as she leads her friends on an eventful journey across the city. Despite the celebratory atmosphere, Ziba struggles to retain her characteristic optimism as she finds herself battling the fears and secrets she’s been hiding from her friends. As day turns to night,...

Wedding-Gone-Wrong Shark Movie 'Something in the Water' Trailer
Image
"Someone needs to swim for help." Studiocanal has revealed an official UK trailer for a shark horror movie titled Something in the Water, made by a VFX artist turned filmmaker named Hayley Easton Street. It's set for release in the UK in July this summer, though no US date confirmed yet. This all-female production is written by, directed by, produced by, and stars nothing but women. Awesome! "This summer, fear will find new depths." The survival thriller follows a group of five girlfriends who must fight for their lives in open water after a dream wedding transformed into a nightmare. Starring Hiftu Quasem, Lauren Lyle, Natalie Mitson, Nicole Rieko Setsuko, and Ellouise Shakespeare-Hart, as a group of friends on a holiday gone very wrong. It's always the same story in these shark movies, something goes wrong while out on the water. But this still looks pretty good! They'll never stop making more shark horror movies,...

‘Natatorium’ Review: Icelandic Drama Peers Into Family Dysfunction Through an Artful, Horror-Tinged Prism
Image
When, in the opening minutes of Natatorium, a fresh-faced teen arrives at a blocky modernist showplace of a house, it seems she’s checking in to a swanky Airbnb. But the well-appointed dwelling, where an oppressively dark glacial blue predominates, turns out to be the unwholesome home of the grandparents she hasn’t seen in years. Estrangement and silence are the guiding principles within this hermetically sealed universe, which, as the title of Helena Stefánsdóttir’s drama indicates, contains an indoor swimming pool. “Don’t go into the basement” would be a handy subtitle. Not that the upper floors offer much refuge.

In a movie that ultimately centers on a trinity of female kin at cross-purposes — visiting Lilja, her formidable grandmother and moderately rebellious aunt — the 18-year-old outsider is the catalyst for the revelations and unraveling to come. Traveling from her island home, Lilja (Ilmur María Arnarsdóttir) arrives in the city by bus,...

Imaginary: Jeff Wadlow’s Blumhouse horror film gets a new poster ahead of March release
Image
Not only do Blumhouse productions tend to have such low budgets that it’s difficult for them to fail, but the company also makes so much content that you never go too long without seeing a new release from them. So if one disappoints, they have another chance to impress soon after. The Exorcist: Believer wasn’t well-received? That’s okay, Five Nights at Freddy’s is right around the corner. Night Swim didn’t live up to the success they had with M3GAN last year? Well, let’s see how Imaginary does on March 8th. With the release of Imaginary just one month away, a new poster for the film has arrived online and can be seen at the bottom of this article.

Imaginary is the latest team-up between Blumhouse and director Jeff Wadlow – who had previously collaborated on the 2018 film Truth or Dare and the 2020 horror version of Fantasy Island.

All the film reviews you may have missed in January

No, Night Swim Isn't A Comedy Horror Movie (But It Should Be)
Image
Night Swim is intended to be a chilling supernatural horror flick, but its scares often come across as unintentionally hilarious. The film, helmed by first-time director Bryce McGuire and produced by Jason Blum and James Wan, explores the haunting origins of a spring-fed pool. Despite its attempts to tap into primal fears (and its impressive cast), Night Swim falls short of delivering genuine scares — and unintentionally takes on a campy, cult-classic tone.

One of 2024's first theatrical releases, Blumhouse's Night Swim isn't so much scaring viewers as it is prompting them to ask a truly horrifying question: Is Night Swim supposed to be funny? The short answer is "no" — Night Swim is meant to be a chilling supernatural horror flick, though its alleged scares are pretty lukewarm and unintentionally hilarious. Despite being written and helmed by first-time feature film director Bryce McGuire, Night Swim is based on McGuire and collaborator...

Blumhouse Horror Movie ‘Night Swim’ Debuts with $17 Million Worldwide
Image
Universal, Blumhouse and co-producer James Wan took us for a Night Swim in theaters over the weekend, with the Bryce McGuire-directed horror movie becoming the genre’s very first theatrical release of the new year. Was it a strong start for the horror genre, you ask?

Night Swim debuted in 3,250 theaters across the United States over the weekend, opening to $12 million domestically. Worldwide, the film scared up $17.6 million in its debut.

Here’s the day-to-day breakdown here in the United States:

Friday, January 5: $5,250,000 Saturday, January 6: $4,180,000 Sunday, January 7: $2,570,000

For the sake of comparison, Blumhouse’s M3GAN was released in January of last year, and the viral appeal of the title character drove the film to a $30 million domestic opening. Granted, nobody in their right mind expected Night Swim to perform the way M3GAN did.

Other recent Blumhouse releases and their domestic opening weekend totals include Five Nights at Freddy’s...

Night Swim's Terrifying Ending, Explained
Image
Quick Links Night Swim's Big Twist Involves a Macabre Sacrifice Night Swim's Ray Turns Into a Sadistic Monster Night Swim's Ray Has to Make a Heartbreaking Choice

The following article contains spoilers for Night Swim, now playing in theaters.

2023 was a year that possession movies came to the fore en masse. The Nun II, The Exorcist: Believer and The Pope's Exorcist are a few examples of major properties that hit theaters. 2024 kicks off by continuing that trend, this time in a more unconventional manner. It comes courtesy of Night Swim.

A joint venture between James Wan's Atomic Monster and Blumhouse Productions, this film focuses on the Waller family as they move into the suburbs. However, a macabre force from the backyard swimming pool decides to haunt them, intent on claiming members of the household. This creates a terrifying ending that proves how powerful and conniving Night Swim...

How Scary Is Night Swim? PG-13 Rating Explained
Image
Night Swim has a PG-13 rating due to terror, some violent content, and language. It lacks gore and intense violence. The horror elements in Night Swim are watered down to attract a wider audience. The film includes a few light curse words in harrowing instances. Night Swim is not very scary or chilling. It has minimal gore, violence, and truly frightening scenes, making it an easier watch for those who prefer milder horror movies.

Night Swim, another Blumhouse horror movie, has arrived in theaters — it has been given a PG-13 rating, but is it more scary than it lets on? Written and directed by Bryce McGuire, Night House comes from the same production company as last year’s meme-worthy horror hit M3GAN. And just like its predecessor, Night Swim has been given a PG-13 rating that might have one wondering whether it lives up to genre expectations.

Night Swim (2024)
Night Swim Review: Drowning in Horror Clichés
Night Swim (2024)
There isn’t a single scare tactic in Night Swim that isn’t familiar from countless other films. From the start, horror tropes abound: jump scares punctuated by loud noises on the soundtrack; voices emanating from a drain; creepy mud-soaked girls crawling out of the water; promises of ancient curses; computer searches that lead to missing persons; apparitions that disappear the moment they appear; and teary, rain-soaked goodbyes. Except it all happens around a private swimming pool, which here remains about as frightening as a fish tank.

Ray Waller (Wyatt Rusell) is a former third baseman for the Milwaukee Brewers who’s had to swallow the pill of an early retirement after being diagnosed with relapse-remitting Ms. His condition is worsening, and, to help keep the family afloat, his wife, Eve (Kerry Condon), takes an admin job at the local public school, which is cheekily named after Harold Holt, the...
