Pink Floyd fans rejoice because ‘Pink Floyd at Pompeii – McMlxxii,’ the groundbreaking 1972 film directed by Adrian Maben, will return to cinemas in Spring 2025.
The re-release has been digitally re-mastered in 4K from the original 35mm footage, with enhanced audio newly mixed by Steven Wilson, the upcoming theatrical release presents the definitive version of this pioneering film.
‘Pink Floyd At Pompeii’ pre-dates the release of The Dark Side Of The Moon. The film documents what Pink Floyd did before they became giants of the album charts on both sides of the Atlantic – where their music remains celebrated to this day.
Set in the hauntingly beautiful ruins of the ancient Roman Amphitheatre in Pompeii, Italy, this unique and immersive film captures Pink Floyd performing an intimate concert without an audience. Pink Floyd fans will soon get to relive an iconic moment from the band’s illustrious career. Back in 1971, before the release of their breakthrough eighth studio album Dark Side of the Moon, the band performed in the ancient Roman Amphitheatre in Pompeii, Italy. This legendary performance was the first live concert to ever take place at Pompeii. Though there was no audience at the time, Pink Floyd performed songs like “Echoes,” “A Saucerful of Secrets,” and “One of These Days,” all of which are now considered fan favorites. This performance was the subject of the 1972 documentary film Pink Floyd at Pompeii - McMlxxii. In April, the film will be re-released in theaters, digitally remastered in 4K.

Echoes of the Past opens with a tragic event—Nadia dies during a scuba dive. Her brother Yahia is wrongly sent to prison for the crime, and the story begins with his release after 15 years. The narrative quickly transforms from a simple revenge plot into a deeper investigation as Yahia seeks the truth about his sister’s death, which Ali’s wealthy family portrayed as an accident. What starts as a typical vengeance story becomes a complex web of mysteries, with Yahia discovering family secrets that could destroy everyone involved.
The series distinguishes itself through its investigative approach. It skillfully manipulates the revenge thriller format, weaving together past and present scenes that continually surprise viewers. Yahia’s search follows an unpredictable path, reflecting the fragmented nature of memory. Each new piece of evidence introduces additional mysteries, moving suspicion between different characters and maintaining viewer interest. The killer’s identity emerges...

The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom is one of the most creative entries in the series, and it has raised my expectations for how boss fights are handled. Echoes of Wisdom isn’t just unique because it’s the first Legend of Zelda game to actually put Zelda in the starring role, but also because of its unique item system. The game’s mechanics allow for a lot of creative problem-solving which applies to all aspects of the game, including boss battles.
Bosses in The Legend of Zelda series have changed a lot over the years. In many of their incarnations, Zelda bosses have had obvious weak spots or proved vulnerable to a specific item, typically whatever item players would have been most recently acquired in the boss’s accompanying dungeon. However, Echoes of Wisdom takes a very new approach to this formula. After getting used to the game...

The Legend of Zelda series is a masterclass in using real-world mythology to inspire its world, and other games should take note. Of course, being inspired by mythology is far from a unique quality of the Legend of Zelda games. Plenty of games and other media draw on mythology as inspiration, some more blatantly than others. Games like God of War and Hades are explicitly adaptations of certain myths. In contrast, games like the Assassin’s Creed series include some mythological elements, such as the Apples of Eden or Mjölnir.
Although most players likely know the inspirations behind a game like Age of Mythology, The Legend of Zelda’s inspirations are more subtle. This has allowed the series to establish its own strong identity, despite having taken inspiration from myths. Not all games with mythological inspiration have managed to pull this off. Any developers looking to create their own new IPs...

There is a tragedy hidden in plain sight in the ending of The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, which puts a very different spin on the supposedly happy conclusion. On the surface, the game’s final moments seem to be nothing more than a collection of positive scenes from across Hyrule, showing the final results of Zelda’s efforts to protect her kingdom. However, closer examination reveals a much darker side to one of these moments.
There are plenty of darker details in The Legend of Zelda, many of which only reveal their full depth on close examination or reflection. For example, Tears of the Kingdom’s regional phenomena all have terrifying implications for the people of Hyrule. Of course, the pervasively dour atmosphere of Majora’s Mask often sees it labeled as the darkest entry in the franchise, but ultimately it is far from the only Zelda game to include such elements.

2024 had a lot of great sci-fi and fantasy TV shows, but sadly, a few that let viewers down!
Over the past 12 months, fans got to enjoy a lot of genre TV, from returning hits like The Rings of Power and House of the Dragon to great new shows like Fallout. There were also a few duds here and there, many of which came and went without much buzz. Not all of these shows were bad, some many were disappointing. Some were parts of franchies that came up short and others were new efforts that landed with a thud.

In Last Shadow at First Light, we meet Ami, a Singaporean adolescent dealing with the searing vacuum left by her mother’s strange absence. Apparently seeking answers, her journey leads her to post-2011 Tohoku, Japan, a place still scarred by the tsunami’s devastation.
The film incorporates this historical tragedy into its fabric, not just as a backdrop but as a haunting presence, a ghost in its own right. Director Nicole Midori Woodford shows the tsunami as an open wound. This living organism alters lives, memories, and landscapes rather than as an event with a specific date.
Ami’s pilgrimage takes her to her estranged uncle Isamu, a solitary man trapped in his grief. Here, the narrative begins to erode the distinction between reality and myth. The uncle’s quiet home transforms into a liminal realm where the mundane meets the uncanny, similar to Japanese yūrei films but without the horror elements.

The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom has been a major success, delighting both newcomers and franchise veterans alike with its unique gameplay and intriguing story. For many long-time fans, there has been an ongoing question as to where Echoes of Wisdom falls in the massive Zelda timeline. Fortunately, Nintendo has recently revealed where exactly the game falls in the timeline, and it has some exciting implications for where the franchise could be headed in the future.
With so many games spanning nearly forty years, figuring out the chronological order of Legend of Zelda's timeline can be daunting. It gets even more complicated when considering the fact that there are multiple branching timelines based on specific outcomes from prior games. Fortunately, Nintendo has done all the hard work of tying all its games together, and it has left some interesting implications for what's to come.

1989s Batman retroactively gained a new villain, thanks to John Jackson Millers Batman: Resurrection, and we already know what becomes of this antagonist. Set between 1989s Batman and Batman Returns, Resurrection explores the fallout of Jokers lethal crime wave in the first film while setting up the rise of Returns villains like Max Shreck and The Penguin. Additionally, Resurrection introduces Basil Karlo Clayface to its Burton Batman universe and retroactively adds Hugo Strange who serves as the books true villain to 1989s Batman as a background character.
Batman: Resurrection cleverly retcons Hugo Strange into 1989s Batman, revealing that the previously unnamed Axis Chemicals scientist was actually the classic Batman villain. Stranges machinations continue to threaten Gotham City in Resurrection, with Strange having Clayface masquerade as the Joker and leading Gothams citizens, including Batman himself, to believe that Jack Napier faked his death. The introduction of cooking and item combinations in recent The Legend of Zelda entries has one major flaw. It's no secret how the most recent Zelda games have heavily pushed for a heightened sense of freedom and experimentation in comparison to its predecessors. From Breath of the Wild's Runes, to Tears of the Kingdom's Ultrahand, to Echoes of Wisdom's Echo ability, it's all in the service of encouraging the player to explore the land of Hyrule in their own way.
Therefore, the implementation of cooking and smoothie mixing in these titles certainly falls in line with this focus. The range of different concoctions and effects that these creations bring is a great way for the player to let loose and experiment, while making use of the items that are probably clogging up their inventory. A mystery that has remained unsolved for over 30 years in The Legend of Zelda implies that Link and Zelda may actually have a shocking connection in one game. The characters of Link and Zelda can vary wildly between Zelda titles, as can their relationship both before and during the game. Many titles see their versions of Link and Zelda meeting for the first time, but a few games do present deeper connections that form part of their respective backstories, including details that arent always immediately obvious.

The sales figures for The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom have given a strong indication of what direction would suit The Legend of Zelda best going forward. The Zelda franchise is constantly introducing new mechanics and adjusting its gameplay style, which helps to keep the games fresh and interesting. Between the titular Echoes and Zeldas role as the lead character, Echoes of Wisdom is a perfect example of this experimentation in action, and its commercial performance has provided a clear picture of what people would enjoy in the next Zelda game.
Considering how vastly the franchise can change between titles, and how frequently it can surprise people as a result, it is not especially easy to predict the future of the Zelda series and what concepts it may use next. With that being said, however, the successes and failures of past games undoubtedly inform the development of subsequent titles.

The Legend of Zelda gives Link the same role in most games, although Echoes of Wisdom is now an exception, with Zelda stepping into the leading role. However, the standard set-up features Link as the Hyrule with a heavy destiny on his shoulders, and he performs that role well, even when he expects to live a normal life, like in Ocarina of Time or Skyward Sword. I always feel like a hero when playing a Zelda game, but I also can't deny that I have become a menace to society when controlling Link.
Zelda games tend to have a recurring set of characters filling the same roles, although that's not the case in every title. However, the types of help, resources, and allies that Link has access to while working to fulfill his quest to save Hyrule vary greatly across titles. The Pokmon series has been struggling to find its footing in recent years, but the best place to look for inspiration might actually be The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom. As a classic Zelda adventure that happens to star the Princess as the protagonist, Echoes of Wisdom isn't very much like Nintendo's creature-collecting series, although a focus on elemental weaknesses does cast a minor resemblance. Its position within the Zelda franchise overall is a particularly interesting one, however, and angling a Pokmon game in a similar direction could help the series deliver a strong experience.
It's inevitable to some degree that many adults will end up with declining opinions of new Pokmon games, as the charming adventures tend to hit the hardest during a player's formative years. Even taking that bias into account, however, it's hard to argue that Pokmon has maintained the polish that most other Nintendo franchises are known for.

Finally, the long-standing complaint that the Legend of Zelda games have never really been about Zelda’s legend can be put to bed. And that’s pretty literal in Echoes of Wisdom, considering how useful beds are across the game. Still, it’s a milestone in the nearly 40 years of this series’s history that Zelda is the hero of her own story in a mainline Legend of Zelda game, but like nearly every major female Nintendo character that isn’t Samus Aran, there are asterisks to that, even if they’re born of sincere ambition on the part of the developers.
In this game, after a short prologue where Link saves Zelda from Ganon, a rift opens in time and space, swallowing Link up in the process. After Zelda frees herself and returns to Hyrule Castle, she finds out that the rifts are spreading throughout the land. What’s more,...

The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom makes a lot of changes to gameplay compared to other titles in the series, particularly by putting Zelda in the leading role without the classic sword and shield combination to fight evil. As the most recent game in a long-running franchise, there are plenty of references to previous titles scattered throughout the game's world. However, one reference seems to explain the setting of a classic Zelda game.
Echoes of Wisdom borrows Link's Awakening's remake style in terms of design. But this time, Zelda takes the position of hero instead of Link. While Echoes of Wisdom makes some changes when it comes to gameplay, it keeps the heart of what makes the franchise beloved alive. Additionally, one piece of the game's lore seems to answer some questions about a Zelda game that's over two decades old now.

The Cotton-Candy Hunt quest in The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom is challenging as it relies on players being able to move and dodge attacks from enemies while using their echoes simultaneously. This is very difficult, and there is plenty of confusion because players are also expected to solve puzzles while they avoid taking damage. Knowing exactly what to do before you take on a puzzle is essential to survive and get through each area.
At the end of the quest, the princess of Hyrule, Zelda, is given a curious charm, so it's very worth the effort taken. It's best to get on the quest as soon as it opens because it's also very out of the way and a bit time-consuming.

Players in The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom can encounter the Lynel early and obtain the strongest echo in the game. Nothing comes close to the power of this enemy. The Lynel has always been the strongest non-boss encounter in most of the series. While the fight will be tough, you will obtain one of the greatest assets to help in your journey to save Hyrule.
One of the best parts of this newest entry in the series is the ability to explore most areas after restoring the first rift in the story. This allows you to encounter the Lynel northwest of Hyrule Castle Town early on. Before attempting to obtain the echo, players should be able to summon echoes that cost four or five Tri Points. Additionally, equipping the Ancient Charm, a reward from the "Let's Play a Game" side quest at the Eastern Temple, will help reduce any damage taken.

In the Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, Heart Pieces can be found around the map as collectibles, waiting to be discovered by a player on their adventure. Collecting heart pieces has been a consistent feature in the game series, though it was last seen in 2013's A Link Between Worlds. By finding and collecting four of these pieces, players can form a full Heart Container that will be permanently added to Zelda's health. This is imperative for dealing with stronger enemies and traversing the world more safely.
These pieces are scattered across Hyrule in Echoes of Wisdom, and vary in difficulty - some far easier than others. Puzzles, enemies, and the requirement of Echoes can all be obstacles that get in the way of collecting Heart Pieces, so players should prioritize the easier locations first. Though they are rarely easily found, here are the ten easiest Heart Pieces for players to collect.

In the Eldin Volcano region of The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, a dragon boss awaits inside a dungeon. This region is home to more than Goron City. It is also where Zelda finds a firebreathing dragon, known as Volvagia. This dungeon boss should be familiar to longtime franchise fans. Volvagia makes their return to the series as a tough opponent.
Getting to Eldin Temple requires journeying to a waypoint hidden behind lava barriers. Travel through a rift in Eldin Volcano to reach Stilled Eldin Volcano. They travel across Hyrule, investigating rifts, scanning objects and monsters, and completing dungeons. Investigating rifts means visiting the other side, known as the Stilled world.
The Stilled world mirrors Hyrule. Within the Stilled world, Princess Zelda will find places like the Stilled Suthorn Forest, Stilled Gerudo Desert, and Stilled Faron Wetlands. The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom is a truly wonderful time that reminds us of why 2D Zelda games still matter, combining classic dungeon-crawling and item progression with the freedom brought forth by the series’ recent entries.

The unfortunate reality of the Zelda community, however, is that many continue to question Nintendo’s decision to go for a top-down, 2D game design with a toy-like aesthetic, considering these elements to be a step backward in the wake of the company’s other massive 3D open-world titles. But as Eiji Aonuma himself would tell you, that couldn’t be further from the truth.

Of all the Easter eggs in The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, Link's house is one of the easiest to find and most worthwhile. Although firmly set in its own timeline, the Zelda series is no stranger to the odd Easter egg. The big, open-world 3D Zelda games may have more space for them, but it's often the 2D games that become most notorious for their cameos and in-jokes. With their small and condensed maps, Easter eggs in Link's Awakening and Echoes of Wisdom are easy to find and easy to recognize.
Such is the case for Link's house, which is easy to find near the very beginning of Echoes of Wisdom. Considering how much Echoes of Wisdom contributes to the overall Zelda lore, this may not be the most fruitful chapter in the player's exploration of Hyrule, but it will be an interesting one. The Legend of Zelda series has a number of iconic pieces of iconography, from Link's green hat to the Triforce of Courage. However, perhaps none are more legendary than the Master Sword, a powerful blade that Link wields in the name of protecting Zelda, Hyrule, and the innocent people at the mercy of Ganondorf's wrath. Naturally, considering its status as a legendary weapon in the gaming zeitgeist, many will likely wonder whether it pops up in The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom.
While the Master Sword is typically used by Link, Echoes of Wisdom deviates from the expected tropes of the series, and instead ushers in a fresh new age of unique mechanics and, of course, Zelda's own perspective. Naturally, this would lead to many believing that Zelda may finally get a chance to whack Moblins with the Master Sword, even getting her very own spin attack. However, most...

The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom has no shortage of interesting echoes to use, but there's one in particular that stands out above the rest of the back. As the first proper game in the Zelda franchise to have the princess be the protagonist, Echoes of Wisdom equips Zelda with the power to duplicate items with a staff called the Tri Rod. These duplicates, referred to as echoes, take the place of Link's standard adventuring equipment, allowing her to attack enemies, solve puzzles, and neutralize environmental obstacles with a bit of creativity.
It's only natural that not every echo is created equal, and it's possible to sort them by most used to grant easier access to the most beneficial ones. A lot of this can come down to personal preference, as most problems can be solved with a flexible variety of echoes. When one consistently serves as a good...

Nintendo and Grezzo's The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom is my favorite Zelda game in eighteen years. I don't think that will be true for everyone, especially people who first started the series with Botw or Totk, but for people who missed the more linear approach, and for those players who have stuck with the series through decades, Echoes of Wisdom feels like fan service in the best way possible - and it does this without losing the creativity that made these most recent titles so popular.
I'll be honest here, Breath of the Wild nearly clicked with me, but it never really did. Unfortunately, I'm too much of a fan of the bespoke dungeons, multi-tier fetch quests, bustling towns, and item/ability progression offered by previous mainline Legend of Zelda entries for it to ever really stick. A new era is on the horizon for The Legend of Zelda with the rapidly approaching release of Echoes of Wisdom. The next Zelda title is a departure from its immediate predecessors in many ways, making it evident that the franchise is now exploring a new direction. As such, although it is clear that Breath of the Wild has created new traditions that have been carried forward into EoW, the many differences between the new title and the preceding Botw and Totk, which may themselves influence future titles, are the most intriguing aspects of the game.
