When Calls The Heart: Lucas Bouchard Isn't Going Anywhere (Despite A Breakup & A Shooting)
Image
Lucas survives a shooting in season 11, with a mysterious assailant revealed as his ex-girlfriend's criminal alter ego. The weight of stress in season 11 reveals new sides of Lucas, from better to worse, as he navigates major revelations. Despite a tumultuous past, Lucas and Elizabeth's inevitable confrontation hints at a potential reunion in the season 11 finale.

"What happened to Lucas on When Calls the Heart?" is a question fans of the Hallmark Channel series have wondered after his recent storylines hinted he might be leaving. Fortunately, however, another cast member confirmed he isn't going anywhere. Like the fantasy series The Way Home, When Calls the Heart is a Hallmark Channel original drama TV show. The series premiered in January 2014, and its latest season, season 11, airs its finale on June 23, 2024. When Calls the Heart is inspired by Janette Oke's novel of the same name from her Canadian West series.

The fantastic...

When Calls the Heart Season 11 Episode 2 Review: Tomorrow Never Knows
Kevin McGarry and Erin Krakow in Le cœur a ses raisons (2014)
Times are changing in Hope Valley.

Many things changed in Hope Valley on When Calls the Heart Season 11 Episode 2 after Lucas announced his plans to add a resort and sell his saloon, The Queen of Hearts. Elsewhere, after a mix-up, Elizabeth and Allie teamed up to throw Nathan a surprise party.

Things are still moving slowly as Season 11 finds its footing and how big of a role Lucas will play, but the central mystery and the blossoming relationships are intriguing.

Talk about a misunderstanding. Nathan has always hated being the center of attention, yet he was convinced Allie was throwing him a surprise party instead of taking him fishing as she had planned.

It put Elizabeth in an awkward position. She craved something new, possibly with Nathan, but she knew his comfort zone, so she didn't want to host a huge bash.

But Nathan almost made everyone suspicious, so Elizabeth...

10 International Festival Favorites From 2023 That U.S. Audiences Deserve to See
Image
For all its many, many faults, 2023 was a banner year for international films. The awards season buzz for global gems like Justine Triet’s French courtroom thriller Anatomy of a Fall (released by Neon stateside), Jonathan Glazer’s German-language Holocaust drama Zone of Interest (A24), Hayao Miyazaki’s Japanese anime The Boy and the Heron (GKids), and J.A. Bayona’s Spanish-language real-life survival tale Society of the Snow (Netflix) only scratches the surface.

Among the many many other foreign highlights from last year are Mubi’s Fallen Leaves and How to Have Sex — the first a laconic triumph by Finnish film master Aki Kaurismäki, the latter a stunning debut by Brit first-timer Molly Manning Walker — Sony Pictures Classics’ The Teachers’ Lounge, a German school drama from director Ilker Çatak and Iranian drama Shayda from director Noora Niasari; Agnieszka Holland’s harrowing The Green Border, about Poland’s treatment of would-be...

Let's Talk About The Ominous Queen Of Hearts In Yellowjackets
Image
This post contains spoilers for the latest episode of "Yellowjackets" season 2.

The girls of "Yellowjackets" are survivors, and in season 2 of the hit Showtime series, Shauna, Taissa, Van, Misty, Natalie, Lottie, and the rest of the team have gotten the daily rituals of life in the wilderness down to a science. They hunt and forage, but they also take the ritual part of daily ritual seriously; Lottie (Courtney Eaton), the vision-stricken girl who makes a compelling case for a supernatural presence in the forest, puts drops of her blood in their tea and guides them through meditations each morning.

In the most recent episode of the series, we also see the girls partake in a new daily ritual, one that initially seems pretty clever. Back in season 1, the group found playing cards in the abandoned cabin they holed up in, and now we see that they're using the cards to rotate chore duty.
