James Gunn Thinks Adria Arjona Would Make a Great Wonder Woman
Image
The DC Universe is still missing two parts of its famous Trinity, Batman and Wonder Woman. Right now, only Superman has been officially confirmed, while the other two heroes haven’t even been cast yet.

Gal Gadot played Wonder Woman in the previous Dceu movies. Her 2017 Wonder Woman film was a big hit, making $821.8 million at the box office.

But the follow-up, Wonder Woman 1984, did much worse. It only made $169.6 million and didn’t get great reviews. This was partly because the movie came out during the pandemic, which hurt its chances.

Related: Now That James Gunn Confirmed a ‘Wonder Woman’ Movie Is in the Works, Here’s 12 Actresses Who Could be Playing the Dcu’s Wonder Woman

Fans expected Gadot to return for another Wonder Woman movie. However, like Henry Cavill (Superman) and Ben Affleck (Batman), she was dropped when the Dceu was canceled.

Recently, James Gunn confirmed that...

James Gunn Says Adria Arjona Would Be “A Great Wonder Woman”
Image
When it comes to the Dcu, only “one part” of the Trinity is currently confirmed, Superman, since Batman and Wonder Woman haven’t even been cast yet.

Gal Gadot previously played Wonder Woman in the Dceu, starring in the 2017 film. That movie was a huge success, earning $821.8 million at the box office.

So, it was surprising when Wonder Woman 1984 turned out to be both a critical and box office disappointment, bringing in just $169.6 million. However, it’s important to remember that the pandemic heavily affected its performance.

Gadot was expected to appear in another Wonder Woman project, but like Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck when the Dceu was scrapped, she was eventually let go.

A few weeks ago, James Gunn confirmed that Wonder Woman hasn’t been cast yet. But of course, that hasn’t stopped fans from making their own picks.

Tom Hanks, Will Smith & Johnny Depp Almost Starred In This Action Thriller ( Photo Credit – Wikimedia )

Despite their distinctly different acting styles, acclaimed Hollywood actors Tom Hanks, Will Smith, and Johnny Depp have delivered many memorable performances throughout their careers. It would have been a dream team if they had shared screen space for a film directed by an A-list filmmaker. Surprisingly, they almost did. The three superstars were once attached to star in an explosive action thriller. Although the movie was eventually made, it featured a completely different cast and director. Read on to find out what that film was and who ultimately starred in and directed it.

Garrett Hedlund at an event for Death Sentence (2007)
Interview: Tulsa King & Tron: Legacy star Garrett Hedlund on his new thriller, Barron’s Cove
Garrett Hedlund at an event for Death Sentence (2007)
Garrett Hedlund is one of those guys who’s never really gotten his due in Hollywood. While he was the lead in films like Tron: Legacy and Pan, his starring roles in terrific indie flicks like On the Road, Burden and several others were underseen. Even still, he’s more than carved out a niche for himself as a tough-guy actor, with him being used to great effect in Triple Frontier, Mudbound and on the runaway smash hit Tulsa King, where he goes toe-to-toe with one of the most iconic actors ever, Sylvester Stallone. On the show, he plays one of the coolest characters, Mitch Keller, who’s in cahoots with Sly’s Dwight at a casino and moonlights as an aspiring country singer. He adds some levity to what’s become an intense show.

However, this week sees the release of a much darker role for Hedlund, with him headlining the revenge drama,...

A Forgotten Ben Affleck Sci-Fi Movie Is Now Trending On Netflix 22 Years After Release
Image
Ben Affleck made a sci-fi movie in 2003 that has since been forgotten, but 22 years later, the rarely-seen film is a streaming hit on Netflix. Even as his two-decades-old science fiction effort finds a new audience on the world’s biggest streamer, the Oscar-winning actor, producer and writer is enjoying the success of his latest release, The Accountant 2, which grossed $101 million worldwide in its theatrical run, and is sure to be even more of a hit on streaming.

It is no surprise at all to see Affleck headlining a thriller like The Accountant 2, after his efforts with films like the first Accountant, The Town, Argo, Triple Frontier and others. Science fiction films like the one he made back in 2003 are less frequently found in his filmography, and if sci-fi leaning comic book movies like Justice League are tossed out, the genre is even more poorly represented there.

Affleck’s...

One of 2024’s Biggest Box Office Flops Finds Redemption on Netflix
Image
Despite extremely poor box office returns, Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s latest superhero movie has become a major hit on streaming. Taylor-Johnson stars alongside Russell Crowe and Christopher Abbott in Kraven the Hunter, the 2024 Sony Marvel film that debuted in December and grossed only $61 million at the global box office against a $110 million budget, making it one of the biggest flops of the year. However, the film recently premiered on Netflix more than two weeks ago, and not only did it quickly become one of the more popular movies on the platform, but it has weathered the storm of new arrivals to hold down its spot. Kraven the Hunter earned a “rotten” 15% score from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, and general audiences reviewed the film at 73%.

Richard Wenk, Art Marcum, and Matt Holloway all contributed to the script for Kraven the Hunter, and J.C. Chandor directed the film. Chandor made his directorial debut 15 years ago on Margin Call,...

The Electric State Is Netflix's Most Expensive Movie Ever (And The Russos' Worst)
Image
Anthony and Joe Russo's new film "The Electric State" will arrive on Netflix on March 14, 2025 (you can watch the trailer here), and it comes with a lot of baggage. Adapted from a picture novel by Swedish artist Simon Stålenhag, "The Electric State" takes place in an alternate dystopian version of 1990s American where corporate mascots wander the landscape as intelligent robots. There was a recently-failed robot uprising, and now all the robotic mascots now wander a wasted, walled-off landscape, exiled from humanity. Millie Bobbie Brown plays Michelle, a young woman who has to venture into the robot wasteland in search of her long-lost brother.

The Russo brothers are perhaps best known for the work within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as they oversaw the blockbusters "Captain America: The Winter Soldier," "Captain America: Civil War," "Avengers: Infinity War," and "Avengers: Endgame," one of the most successful films of all time. "The Electric State...

‘Counterstrike’ Netflix Ending Explained And Full Story: Did Captain Guerrera Capture Josefo?
Image
If you are a fan of no-nonsense shoot-’em-up outdoor survival flicks like The Losers and Triple Frontier, then director Chava Cartas’ Mexican thriller, Counterstrike, might be right up your alley. This bare-bones, adrenaline-pumping, lean, mean action spectacle, which pits a team of Mexican special forces agents against the dreaded cartel sicarios in the Mexican wilderness, might lack narrative complexity, but doesn’t pull a single punch when it comes to offering delectable, fast-paced, beautifully choreographed action sequences. There is just enough character dynamics and emotional connections sprinkled through the movie to balance out the streamlined, action-heavy plotline. Overall, Counterstrike is aware of its limitations, plays to its strengths, and delivers precisely what action fans seek from their poison.

Spoilers Ahead

Why Did Captain Guerrera Become A Target Of El Enjambre Cartel?

‘Counterstrike / Counterattack’ Netflix Review: A Straightforward Survival Action Film
Image
Movies centered around the military, which are pumped with all flavors of hypernationalism and machismo, have always been, and still are, an easy sell nowadays. If it’s a biopic of someone who gave their life while committing all kinds of war crimes, which were obviously whitewashed to make the narrative palatable for the family audience, then it’s a guaranteed hit. But for reasons I don’t want to specify, because I don’t want to be labeled an anti-national, this subgenre of action films has never impressed me. Now, if you put a small group of soldiers in a forest and make them go through hell, then you have my undivided attention. For starters, there’s Triple Frontier, which is also one of the best heist movies. Da 5 Bloods is a great example too. Factually inaccuracies aside, Lone Survivor is amazing. Despite veering into sci-fi territory, Predator...

'Kraven the Hunter' to Stream on Netflix Next Month
Image
The critically panned Spider-Man spin-off (which ultimately brought Sony’s ill-thought-out shared universe to an end), Kraven the Hunter is ready to enact brutal vengeance on Netflix next month. The comic book action outing, which stars Kick-Ass and Bullet Train star Aaron Taylor-Johnson as the Marvel antihero, caused yet another divide between critics and audiences at the time, with the latter crowd no doubt excited to be able to stream Kraven at home.

Kraven the Hunter will be available to stream on Netflix in the United States on March 13, 2025, according to What’s on Netflix. Directed by J. C. Chandor from a screenplay by Art Marcum & Matt Holloway and Richard Wenk, Kraven the Hunter tells the origin of the Marvel character, much like Venom before it. Created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko for "The Amazing Spider-Man" #15 back in 1964, Kraven the Hunter follows the title character on a violent vendetta.

Despite Sony's Failed Spider-Man Universe, There's Still a Way to Save It
Image
Quick Links Sony's Spider-Man Universe Still Has Potential Sony's Spider-Man Universe Can Take Influence From Modern Comic Book Cartoons Sony's Spider-Man Universe Can Follow the What If...? Multiverse Angle

The following contains spoilers for Kraven the Hunter, now playing in theaters.

As J.C. Chandor's Kraven the Hunter unfolds, fans can't help but feel forlorn even before the movie ends. That's because they know this is more than likely the final live-action film in Sony's Spider-Man Universe (Ssu). Though, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse is still in production, it does seem like Kraven is finishing the live-action shared universe.

However, there is a key avenue that Marvel can follow after the Sony partnership didn't reap its full dividends: Disney+. The streaming service can save this superhero franchise in the form of animated series that are meant to extend what these movies tried to accomplish.

‘Kraven The Hunter’ Wounded With $11M Box Office Opening, Lowest Ever For Sony/Marvel: What Happened
Image
There’s a saying among filmmakers about comedy movies: you can’t keep them on the shelf for long or else they’ll go stale.

The same is equally true about superhero films, and it’s a fate that Sony’s Kraven the Hunter suffered this weekend, becoming the lowest opening in the studio’s Marvel canon with $11 million three-day total.

The bomb is the third strike for Sony/Marvel following 2022’s Morbius ($73.8M) and this year’s Madame Web ($43.8M). These are films made strictly by the Sony brass without the nuance of Lord & Miller, who steer their Spider-Verse animated movies, and Marvel Cinematic Universe boss Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal, who shepherd their Tom Holland-starring MCU movies. Combined, the Holland and Spider-Verse titles have grossed $6.85 billion worldwide.

Sony has owned the Spider-Man and friends portion of the Marvel library separate from Disney’s Marvel Cinematic Universe since...

Kraven the Hunter Review: Another lame Spider-Verse movie (but this one could have been great)
Image
Plot: As a boy, Sergei Kravinoff (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) was mauled by a lion, only to be saved by a mysterious serum that granted him amazing physical and mental powers. Abandoning the criminal empire run by his father (Russell Crowe), Sergei, now known as Kraven, hunts down evildoers, only to be pulled back into his father’s orbit when his half-brother, Dmitri (Fred Hechinger) is kidnapped.

Review: It’s gotten to the point now that when you see the Sony logo before an “in association with Marvel” banner, you can’t help but cringe. The live-action films the studio has made based on Spider-Man’s rogues gallery have been pretty terrible, with Morbius and Madame Web ranking among the worst superhero films ever. The fact that the Venom trilogy was mediocre is something of a triumph for the beleaguered slate of films, but for a while now, the director of Kraven the Hunter,...

Kraven the Hunter Review
Image
Filled with enough family upheaval to stuff a John Osborne play and a stellar action turn from star Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Kraven the Hunter is too beholden to its superhero roots – and too afraid to push its familial drama as far as possible – to get the most out of its disparate pieces.

The choice to make films about Spider-Man villains without the man himself has been fraught and unproductive so far (no amount of box office will give the Venom films a soul) as filmmaker after filmmaker has searched for something to fill that web-shaped hole. Director J.C. Chandor, no stranger to character drama, has looked inward to one of Spider-Man’s oldest C-list foes to ask what would a man named Sergei Kravinoff, who dresses in a lion skin suit to hunt dangerous animals, be in this modern world?

The logical answer is a scion of Russian oligarchs and crime bosses.

‘Kraven The Hunter’ Review: Aaron Taylor-Johnson Shows Off Action Chops In Marvel Villain Origin Story That Plays More Like A Mob Movie
Image
After Sony’s recent Marvel misfires on 2022’s Morbius and this year’s Madame Web, I wasn’t holding out too much hope for yet another Marvel villain origin story when I headed to the press screening of Kraven the Hunter. Its shuffling around the release schedule didn’t give me much hope, and word spread from someone at a rival studio that the exhibitor screening didn’t go well, also dampening my hopes.

But I always try to go into a movie with an open mind, and in this case, although Kraven is a well-known villain in the comic book world and has popped up here and there, a starring movie wasn’t top of my list.

That said, I had a surprisingly good time with this ultraviolent R-rated telling of how a Russian kid, Sergei Kravinoff, grows up to become a fearsome hunter — not of animals, who he spiritually embraces,...

‘Kraven the Hunter’ Review: Craven? Not Quite, but Aaron Taylor-Johnson Stars in a Marvel Action Movie Where Everything Feels Derivative
Image
When you build a film around an action star, he’ll do a lot of things that only happen in the movies: lay waste to five goons with his bare hands in two minutes, drive vehicles at dizzying speeds down the ancient staircases of a European metropolis, leap from balconies and hang from the rudders of buzz-diving helicopters. When you think about it, he’s a lot like a superhero, except that his actions are all, in theory, reality-based.

Sergei Kravinoff (Aaron Taylor-Johnson), better known as “Kraven the Hunter,” does a lot of that stuff too, only he’s no “action hero.” He’s a Marvel character with a superhuman edge. Kraven made his first appearance in the comics in 1964 as an adversary of Spider-Man, and Spider-Man is the character whose abilities he most recalls. He can shimmy up the sides of buildings and plunge from them without getting scratched.

‘Kraven the Hunter’ Review: J.C. Chandor’s Villainous Epic Arrives Too Late to the Sony-Marvel Party
Image
Have you ever arrived at a New Year’s Eve party about 20 minutes or so after the ball has dropped? No matter if things are still raging or starting to break up, there’s a distinct sense that you missed something vital about the event, and that despite how much you or others may try, the air’s already been let out of the room. That’s the sad state currently faced by “Kraven the Hunter,” a movie that releases in theaters mere days after the announcement that the film marks the official end of Sony’s Marvel Universe.

This isn’t an instance of a movie being caught with its cinematic universe pants down, however; the end credits don’t feature a slew of teases for movies that will now never happen. It’s more quietly tragic then that the movie cuts to credits with no mid-credits scene, no post-credits scene,...

‘Kraven the Hunter’ Is Its Own Self-Inflicted Killshot
Image
A PSA for folks who don’t have 60-plus years of Spider-Man comic-book history at their immediate beck and call: Kraven the Hunter was one of the webslinger’s earliest supervillains, having made his first appearance in The Amazing Spider-Man #15. Created by Stan Lee and artist Steve Ditko, he’s a big-game hunter with a strong claim to being the greatest in the world; the bragging rights of bagging Spider-Man as a trophy, which would have secured him the title, was what fueled his quest to kill the superhero. Kraven...

Kraven The Hunter
Image
For the comic-book-illiterate, Kraven The Hunter, created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko in 1964, is a Spider-Man antagonist and co-founder of the supervillain gang the Sinister Six (rumour has it they were known as the Foreboding Five before Vulture joined). J.C. Chandor’s mostly flat and ludicrous origin story reimagines him as a vigilante Doctor Dolittle, an apex predator who can not only commune with animals but also takes on some of their abilities, such as increased smell, vision and strength. Surprisingly, this is perhaps the part of Kraven The Hunter that makes the most sense.

The backstory is leadenly sketched. Taken on safari by his Russian crime-boss father Nikolai (Russell Crowe) to get over the death of his mother (as you do), Sergei Kravinoff (Levi Miller) is ravaged by a lion but revived by a potion administered by Calypso Ezili, the granddaughter of a voodoo high priestess, which gives...

First Kraven The Hunter Reactions Confirm What We Suspected About Sony's Marvel Movie
Image
Considering its many difficulties and disappointments, there's a very real chance that Sony's Spider-Man villain universe could be dead after "Kraven the Hunter." As such, a lot is riding on the movie's success, and both the "Kraven the Hunter" trailer and the first eight minutes of the movie (which can be viewed online) make it difficult to gauge whether Aaron Taylor-Johnson's Sergei "Kraven" Kravinoff is up to the task. In all honesty and knowing Sony's track record with its non-"Venom" Spider-Man projects, though, it's been easy to suspect that "Kraven the Hunter" is going to divide opinions. Judging by the early reactions from critics, this is precisely the case.

Let's start with the positive first impressions, which in some cases are extremely enthusiastic. Sean Tajipour of Nerdropolis was quick to make his pro-Kraven stance known on X (previously known as Twitter), writing:

Sony's Spider-Man Villain Universe Could Be Dead After Kraven The Hunter

For the last handful of years, Sony has shaken up the superhero movie landscape by expanding the scope of the "Spider-Man" franchise. That has occasionally resulted in truly wonderful things, such as the Oscar-winning hit animated film "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse," as well as its sequel, "Across the Spider-Verse." It has also resulted in truly surprising hits, such as Tom Hardy's "Venom" trilogy. It has also, however, brought forth some truly disastrous spin-offs, such as "Morbius" and "Madame Web." And it appears as though the days of these Spidey villain spin-off films may soon be behind us.

"Kraven the Hunter," directed by J.C. Chandor ("Triple Frontier") and starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson ("Tenet"), hits theaters this upcoming weekend. According to a new report by The Wrap, the movie might mark the end of the line for these villain-focused films. "They've developed what they want to develop for now," a top talent...

Kraven The Hunter's Jc Chandor Reveals Lessons Learned From Venom & Morbius, Teases Knull Possibilities
Image
Your browser does not support the video tag.

Jc Chandor is diving into the world of comic book movies with Kraven The Hunter. The filmmaker has been on a real hot streak since making his feature directorial debut with 2011's Margin Call, quickly following it up with the Robert Redford-led survival drama All is Lost and the Oscar Isaac and Jessica Chastain-starring crime drama A Most Violent Year. Prior to the Sony's Spider-Man Universe film, Chandor expanded his talents to big-budget filmmaking with Netflix's Triple Frontier, which reunited him with Isaac.

Kraven the Hunter marks the sixth installment in the Ssu, exploring the origins of the titular Sergei Kravenoff who, as a young boy, was left behind by his father during a lion attack. Now, having raised himself and acquired extreme abilities of survival and fighting, Kraven sets off on a quest for vengeance to take down his crime lord father,...

Aaron Taylor-Johnson: Kraven the Hunter "won't disappoint"
Image
Kraven the Hunter has a complex relationship with the Sony/Marvel fandom. Since 2018, screenwriter Richard Wenk has been dutiful about creating a movie about the underrated and underexposed anti-hero of the jungle. It's been a roller coaster with this crew, namely for fans of the Sinister Six (more on that later).

The problem is Sony Pictures can't get out of its own way. The timeline has been much longer than expected, and each delay has spiked nerd anxiety. Yet Aaron Taylor-Johnson believes this film "will not disappoint." For that sentiment to deliver, he needs to sift Kraven's disappointment before throwing that out there. Here's why:

In August 2018, Wenk was hired and started writing Kraven the Hunter. Later in the year, Art Marcum (writer for Iron Man and Transformers: The Last Knight) and Matt Holloway (writer for Men in Black: International and Punisher: War Zone) joined the writing team. Two years later,...

Tulsa King's Garrett Hedlund On Singing, Playing Himself & Oklahoma Heat
Image
Tulsa King, the hit Paramount+ series from creators Taylor Sheridan and Terence Winter, is back for its second season. Sylvester Stallone stars as Dwight Manfredi, a New York City mafia boss who gets "rewarded" for serving a 25-year prison sentence by being put out to pasture in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Not ready to retire and feeling slighted by his crime family, Dwight ultimately decides to form a new empire and make a new crime family to call his own.

One of Manfredi's most trusted lieutenants is Mitch Keller, the owner of a local bar that becomes the de facto headquarters for Dwight's budding operation. Mitch is played by Garrett Hedlund, the earthy hunk best known for roles in hit movies like Friday Night Lights, Tron: Legacy, and Triple Frontier. He brings a sense of authentic, home-grown Americana to the series, with his character, an ex-con and former rodeo star, reinforcing...

Adam Wingard's Onslaught has found its first cast member. Adria Arjona, who recently appeared opposite Glen Powell in Netflix's Hit Man, is in final negotiations to star in and executive produce the upcoming action thriller from the Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire filmmaker.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Arjona will play "a mother who falls back on a particular set of skills in order to protect her loved ones after she runs afoul of a threat that has escaped a secret military base." Additional details are being kept under wraps, although sources describe it as a "gonzo action horror thriller" in line with Wingard's earlier movies instead of his Monsterverse movies. Wingard is writing the script with frequent collaborator Simon Barrett. The duo previously collaborated on Youre Next and The Guest. The Netflix Action Thriller Stephen King Recommends Is A Must-Watch
Image
Throughout film history, there have been companies and, for certain stretches, whole studios notorious for churning out garbage. Obviously, American International Pictures had a rep for schlock, but they hit for a shockingly high average at their late 1950s and '60s peak. There's also Menahem Golan and Yoram Globus' Cannon Films, which sparkled with its constellation of B-list action stars like Chuck Norris and Charles Bronson, but Golan was a filmmaker himself with dreams of respectability who courted legit directors like Franco Zeffirelli, Jerry Schatzberg, and Andrei Konchalovsky to make Academy Awards-worthy movies for his exploitation factory.

One of the more outlandishly awful runs from any production entity was Hollywood Pictures, which was created by Disney to nurture fledgling executives and feed film-starved multiplexes — lacking in the wake of MGM/UA, Lorimar and Deg's financial difficulties — with new movies. Disney wasn't sending its best to Hollywood Pictures, so agents...

5 Years Ago, Three Star Wars Stars From All Over The Galaxy United For This Netflix Heist Movie
Image
Triple Frontier brought together three Star Wars actors, all of whom star in three different Star Wars projects. Pedro Pascal (Din Djarin), Oscar Isaac (Poe Dameron), and Adria Arjona (Bix Caleen) all star in this Netflix action thriller. Conflicting timelines in Star Wars make it unlikely for these actors' specific characters to ever meet, though not impossible.

Five years ago, Triple Frontier premiered on Netflix and brought three Star Wars stars together for its action heist movie, all of whom appear in different Star Wars movies and TV shows. One of the most rewarding parts of Star Wars is getting to see its various stars come together in other projects, uniting unlikely pairs and groups who wouldn't otherwise have a chance to work together in the Star Wars galaxy. With the Star Wars timeline remaining quite strict in terms of who can cross paths, these opportunities are a fun way of bringing such actors together.

Sony’s Latest Move With ‘Kraven the Hunter’ Director J.C. Chandor is a Huge Green Flag For Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s Film – Here’s Why

Jeffrey McDonald Chandor, popularly known as J.C. Chandor, is a critically acclaimed American filmmaker. The writer-director is famous for his earlier films, which have received considerable praise. He is making his debut in the Marvel universe soon with his new film, Kraven the Hunter.

The film features Aaron Taylor-Johnson as the titular character and is being backed by Sony Pictures. Recent news of the director signing a new script with the company has fans hopeful for the fate for the 2024 movie. Tension was high among fans after the trailer release, but since the company has decided to work with the filmmaker again, he may be creditable.

Sony bites again: J.C. Chandor returns again

Kraven the Hunter trailer has Aaron Taylor-Johnson embracing the beast within
Image
While Deadpool & Wolverine is the only MCU movie that will be hitting theaters this year, Sony’s Spider-verse still has two of its villain-ccentric films dropping this year with Venom: The Last Dance and Kraven The Hunter. These films will be released after another Spider-verse movie, Madame Web, made its impression earlier this year. It’s time to hit the game trail as Sony has now released the trailer for Kraven The Hunter.

The film opens December 13 after a couple of delays, in which producer Matt Tolmach explains, “Kraven moved to Christmas because we’re excited about it and Christmas is the best release period there is, when you get people with time to go back to the movies over and over again,” Tolmach said. “That was a real reflection of how the studio felt about the movie. We’re really excited. But that’s a great move...

Kraven The Hunter Trailer Gives Venom Horse A Run For Its Money With Rhino Reveal
Image
Beware, "Deadpool & Wolverine," another R-rated Marvel movie is coming for your box office crown. With Dr. Michael Morbius and Cassandra Webb failing to become household names, Eddie Brock preparing to retire, and the rumored "Spider-Man 4" starring Tom Holland still out in the wind, it's up to Aaron Taylor-Johnson's Sergei Kravinoff to salvage the future of Sony's Spider-Man Universe. The actor's "Kraven the Hunter" film has gone through multiple release date changes, the most recent of which saw it pushed to mid-December -- because I dunno about you, but when I think of the winter holidays, I think of the guy from "Kick-Ass" biting off people's noses and spitting them out, as Taylor-Johnson does in the first "Kraven" trailer.

In case the actor's face-chomping antics didn't clue you off, "Kraven" has now been officially rated R for "strong bloody violence, and language," and will continue this...

Kraven The Hunter Trailer: Aaron Taylor-Johnson Dishes Out Bloody Vengeance In Sony Marvel Movie
Image
So far, Sony’s Spider-Man-adjacent Marvel movies have shied away from going hard-r rated – even the Venom films have played it safe overall. But that’s not the case with Kraven The Hunter. The latest outing from the universe formerly known as ‘Spumc’ (the Sony Pictures Universe of Marvel Characters) – following on from February’s Madame Web – brings one of Spidey’s most formidable foes to the screen in an origin story that looks to go hard and the blood and gore. Aaron Taylor-Johnson is stepping into the fur-shouldered get-up, on a mission of vengeance that sees him become the world’s greatest hunter. Check out the trailer here:

If there’s an overarching message to this trailer, it’s that Kraven The Hunter is really going hard on the bloody violence – and given that Deadpool & Wolverine just became the second-ever R-rated film to cross the billion-dollar mark at the worldwide box office,...

Sony Pictures Acquires New Script By ‘Kraven The Hunter’ Helmer J.C. Chandor As SPC Readies Next ‘Spider-Man’ Universe Pic With Aaron Taylor-Johnson
Image
Exclusive: After directing Aaron Taylor-Johnson in the lead role of the Spider-Man spinoff Kraven the Hunter, J.C. Chandor has closed a deal with Sony Pictures to direct a new untitled contemporary drama he has written. It might be his next outing as director. This comes after Sony saw Chandor’s latest cut, which prompted a move to a December 13 release slot. The new trailer for Kraven bows shortly.

The new film is a drama that is a callback to his early films Margin Call, A Most Violent Year and Triple Frontier, in terms of the polemics of capitalism. I’ve heard this one is a contemporary thriller involving the investigation of a death in a moneyed dynastic family. Think Succession with an Erin Brockovich feel.

Kraven stars Taylor-Johnson as the son of a ruthless Russian gangster (Russell Crowe). He is an incredibly efficient hunter who has a complicated and antagonistic relationship with his father.

Kraven the Hunter officially earns an R rating for strong bloody violence and language
Image
Hey, True Believers, remember Kraven the Hunter? I’ll give you a minute to refresh your memory. Are you good? Cool. After dropping off the radar for several months following the debut of a gnarly (and somewhat promising) red-band trailer, Sony delayed Kraven the Hunter until the Christmas box office window. Why? According to producer Matt Tolmach, “Kraven moved to Christmas because we’re excited about it, and Christmas is the best release period there is – when you get people with time to go back to the movies over and over again.” What’s in store for Sony’s next Marvel film? Lots of mature themes, it would seem. Kraven the Hunter is officially rated R for strong bloody violence and language. Let the games begin!

Sony’s Kraven the Hunter stars Aaron Taylor Johnson as Sergei Kravinoff, Spider-Man’s number-one rival. During a chat with Variety, Taylor-Johnson said his...

This Movie Starring Ben Affleck, Pedro Pascal & Oscar Issac Is One Of Netflix's Most Underrated Action Movies
Image
Triple Frontier, a 2019 war action movie with a star-studded cast, is directed by J.C. Chandor and based on a screenplay by Chandor and Mark Boal. It's available on Netflix. Despite critical acclaim, the film has been overlooked and has a 70% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes. A sequel, Triple Frontier 2, is in development. The movie follows a group of former U.S. Army Delta Force operators who go rogue to orchestrate a heist of a South American crime lord.

The overlooked 2019 war action movie Triple Frontier had a star-studded cast that deserves more recognition. Directed by J.C. Chandor, whose other works include A Most Violent Year (2017), All Is Lost (2013), and Margin Call (2011), Triple Frontier is surprisingly just the fourth feature film directed by Chandor, who was nominated for a Best Original Screenplay Oscar for Margin Call. Criminal Prime Video Series Casts Morbius & Andor Star Adria Arjona As Greta Watson

Joining Richard Jenkins as Ivan will be Adria Arjona as Greta Watson (they appear to have dropped a "t" from the character's first name for some reason).
