Neat remote Island interesting history , scenic .
Not sure if there is any treasure ... I wouldn't be surprised if military personnel cleaned it all out .
Sue to the lack of discovery in first few episodes I think this will be dragged out for multiple seasons .
Does anyone want to spend that much time ? We already have too many seasons of oak island with no payoff .

I never write show reviews... but seriously this show has me scratching my head. Their 'scientist' makes up stuff that leaves you guessing. One episode she had nothing to take soil samples with so they make one, 2 episodes later she has the full proper kit... they also come up with silly ideas of how they can 'locate' where the pirates were and none of the ideas make sense.. or the way they determined where to search based on experiments they come up with like carrying buckets of bolts as far as they could.... somehow thinking they could compare themselves to pirates with gold on a mission. They find markers, that parts actually pretty good, they follow one but then think the next one means the gold must be close.... why not follow that one a fair distance like you followed the first?
This ain't Oak Island, Oak Island was more real. This is a search for gold but adding different stuff purely for a TV show production. This is what happens when you think you're Oak Island and want to make a TV show based on Oak islands tv show success .

They obviously have no clue where this treasure is and then it just descends into that programmed in the USA where they blow houses up and think it's cool.... But in this case WW2 bombs.

There are no words. This is ansolute garbage. Scripted trash. Wooden acting.
Search for 2 mins and give up or create a reason to look somewhere else.
Trash science. Have watched all episodes and want my life back.

This is what happens with no information, no planning, and zero common sense. Watching this show I'm amazed at how fast they change directions over personal guessing and conjecture. They say things that don't need to be said, and explain theories as if you....the viewer...are in 2nd grade. Ya gotta love shows like this and pull for the underdog....but most of what they say and do doesn't make any sense.
Idiots looking for gold hidden by idiots.

So, the Mayor wants to rejuvenate his village.... Ya right, for what reason, there is nothing there. The only reason to be there was military, now they are gone. 5% finders fee.... You are out of your mind. Just a real stupid show.

OK, so I don't normally watch treasure hunting documentaries, and the last time I read anything with treasure hunting was one of Clive Cussler's books, so I am no expert, but I really enjoyed this.
Granted, the editing could have been better and it should have focused more on a documentary style instead of putting in weird cliff hangers and making the crew act like they were super sure EVERY spot was THE spot that would have treasure. That was stupid, and I bet they cut out a lot of good content to do this.
I found the history of Adak fascinating, and I really liked the geologist, but really, all of the people were likeable.
I found it weird that they had to make the soil sampling thingy though; I mean, it wasn't a huge item and it wasn't like she couldn't have brought one with her.
So yeah, it was much too contrived, but still enjoyable. I watch Netflix while I diamond paint or crochet, and it was a fun way to pass the time.

Nothing makes sense about this show. Its clearly all staged , so poorly. The acting is awful and creates no drama for anyone who has any sense. They make everything seem so deadly. Meanwhile there's camera crews everywhere, and the island is like the size of a shopping mall.
Can't even explain how bad this is. It insults the viewers intelligence with their ramblings.

Just completed the series and not surprised to see so many negative reviews. You feel like you've seen it a million times before, the faux tension, the unnecessary acting, the 'cliffhanger' ending to every episode, the over dramatic reaction to the mundane, the tiring recaps of what you've just watched, etc etc
But.... I found myself hitting 'next episode' with surprising enthusiasm. I really enjoyed the scenery and history of an island I'd never heard of before. The cast were also all likeable people who I wanted to be successful if their goal was legit. Against my better judgment I'd watch S2 if it were made.
This crew makes old Todd Hoffman and his idiotic Gold Rush crew look like geniuses! C'mon Netflix! If you want to go after the Discovery market, at least make an effort!

Really liked this show. Although there were some leaps in logic, that's probably how it is when you get gold fever. As a geologist who has undertaken the soil science work on the show I can tell you that the methods and approach shown are real.
Sure there is some set-up and repetition but that is pretty standard for these types of shows.
Looking forward to the next series.

I think I was gripped due to the editing and how everything was pieces together. If the editing wasn't as good as it was I think I would have switched off a long time ago.
There isn't much logic to the search area's which is pretty annoying.
A lot of the time it felt like evangelicals finding signs from God. I think it could have done with someone there challenging their thought processes or a historian.
I enjoyed it, I think a lot of these reviews are very harsh!

I spent 1 year stationed on Adak. 1970-1971 USN E5 with a top secret clearance. I admit knew a lot but not everything. During my tour
I never heard of Buried Treasure, Buried ordinance, don't dig here, or don't step there. I can assure you if I had heard of Buried Treasure I would have been digging every opportunity.
If I had my time again I'd spend 1 hour painting a wall and the other 3 watching it dry.
Can't let someone else watch this without a warning.
Whats this at the end of the episode to make you watch the next and I fell for it.

Literally 30 minutes into the first episode and I can tell it's complete garbage with a bunch of fake acting. You can already tell every episode is going to end with "I think I found something" and then it will cut away only to find out it was nothing. The first episode the two guys go into the building that is completely trashed and in a drawer just so happen to find a map of the area showing all the buildings. Yeah right! I'm not giving this show one more minute of my time.
Don't waste any of yours on this garbage!

How the hell did a show this bad ever make it to Netflix? This is Discovery Ocho reject worthy bad.
This is just a group of adults playing fantasy land with no gameplan or clue of what the hell to do. This is the beginning of the end for Netflix. Worth canceling your subscription over.

Good show, used science to try to locate things..explained what was going on. Explained why they had to wait for certain things, not overly fake dramatic like some reality shows. Fun, enjoyed it.

Ignore the other 1 star reviews from people with no sense of joy or whimsy.
Yes it's a bit cheesy in places, the music is a bit dramatic and there are cliff hangers, but it's a TV SHOW!
The story itself is great, really gets the imagination going. The island is a fantastic, beautiful but harsh place and who doesn't love a pirate treasure story?
Just enjoy this for what it is, light entertainment in 8 short episodes.
I can't wait for season 2.
