Decades after its release and six Oscar nominations later, the enduring image associated with 1987's hit thriller "Fatal Attraction" is, for many, a boiled bunny. Enraged by her married partner's decision to call off their brief affair, Alex Forrest (played by Glenn Close) attempts to send a message to Dan Gallagher by cooking his child's pet bunny. The cinematic moment spawned a new term for a jilted paramour but didn't deeply examine why someone would take such drastic actions.

Now, with the embracing of the antihero onscreen and the real-life push for mental health conversations to be shrouded in less stigma, entertainment media is painting a fuller picture of why people make the decisions they do - and that's obvious in Paramount+'s "Fatal Attraction" streaming reboot.

Fatal Attraction is an iconic part of cinema. Adrian Lyne’s thriller starring Michael Douglas and Glenn Close topped the box office charts after it released in 1987 to become the second-highest-grossing film of the year. It earned six Oscar nominations, inspired decades of stalker movies and, in recent years, has been revisited in think pieces around the retooled ending, sparked by Close speaking out about ways the film didn’t do right by her character, Alex Forrest.

“When they asked me to do it, obviously I was like, ‘I’m not going to do that. That sounds absolutely terrifying,'” Alexandra Cuningham tells The Hollywood Reporter of adapting the movie for TV. “I was thinking, I’ll just watch the movie again so that I’m being a good citizen when I send the email saying I’m not gonna do it. Then, you get sucked in.

What’s the harm in a silly little affair if no one finds out? That’s the question at the center of the series adaptation of the iconic film “Fatal Attraction” coming to Paramount+ on Sunday, April 30. In the series, when Daniel Gallagher meets Alexandra Forrest, his life changes. When the two have an affair, it starts to threaten everything that Gallagher has created in his life, he soon finds himself willing to undertake even the most drastic measures to put an end to the tryst. There are several endings to Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse Remaster. Each shows a different fate for main characters or allies Misaki, Madoka, and Ruka. Players will need to be prepared to play through the game at least twice, if not more, to see everything about the story.

Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse was first released on the Nintendo Wii back in 2008, but was a Japanese exclusive. The 2023 remastered version retains all of the same gameplay. The only small additions are a few new costumes, unlocked at the start of the game. There are no new secrets or endings, making it entirely faithful to the first version.

Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse Remaster’s Spirit Torch is one of the most effective weapons in the game. The survival horror game was originally released for Nintendo Wii back in 2008 but received a remastered version for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC in 2023. The game follows the story of Ruka Minazuki on the cursed Rougetsu Island and cleansing the place of evil ghosts with a few unexpected tools, such as the Camera Obscura.

One of these tools in Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse Remaster is the powerful Spirit Torch. The weapon which resembles a simple flashlight is capable of shooting moonlight at ghosts to subdue them. Players can use the Spirit Torch in the well-received Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse Remaster as long as they know the time and place to do so.

Paramount+ is showing off the first teaser trailer for Fatal Attraction, the series inspired by the Oscar-nominated 1987 film. The one-minute teaser focuses on cheating husband Dan (Joshua Jackson) and Alex (Lizzy Caplan), with the wife, played by Amanda Peet, popping up in the teaser’s final seconds.

Paramount+ is launching the series on April 30, 2023 with the release of the first three episodes. New episodes of the eight-episode season arrive on Sundays.

The cast also includes Alyssa Jirrels as Ellen Gallagher, Toby Huss as Mike Gerard, Reno Wilson as Detective Earl Brooker, and Brian Goodman as Arthur Tomlinson. Dirty John‘s Alexandra Cunningham guides the series as showrunner, writer, and executive producer. Kevin J.
