Imagine Dragons’ latest album Evolve has no demons to hide — because frontman Dan Reynolds took a very “colorful” approach this time around.
“This record is very colorful,” he told People during the band’s concert live stream at YouTube Space in Los Angeles on Tuesday to promote their new album Evolve and upcoming tour. “Lyrically, I was in a really healthy headspace writing it, and then sonically we wrote from a more minimalistic approach.”
“I think this record was written after we had taken our first break as a band,” he continues. “I think that’s significant because during that...

Now that the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 press tour is officially in full swing, not a day goes by without some form of Marvel-related nugget finding its way online. Non-disclosure agreements have and always will limit the flow of information – and rightfully so, lest the entire McU timeline get spoiled ahead of time – but beneath the throwaway rumors and offhand speculation, we’ve discovered that Marvel has carved out a four-year gap between Guardians 2 and Avengers: Infinity War, and that Chris Pratt is game to play Star-Lord for as long as the McU permits.
Perhaps the one tidbit to steal the headlines, though, was in relation to Avengers 4, after Zoe Saldana seemingly let slip that the 2019 sequel will arrive bearing the title Infinity Gauntlet.
Marvel has always been cagey about the true title of Avengers 4, claiming that it contains a spoiler for Infinity War and, by effect, everything that has come before.

This article contains spoilers for just about every film on its list.
I don’t know when it started exactly.
When I was very young, it was fine. I maybe even enjoyed getting on an elevator and being whisked off, but somewhere in the timeline of my life, something changed. I began to dread stepping onto one. My heart would pound, a cold sweat would creep down my neck and my breath would quicken.
“What’s wrong?” a bemused acquaintance would ask as we were about to embark.
“Oh! Nothing, really,” I’d respond as casually as I could for someone suddenly about to lose control of their bowels. “I just thought I might take the stairs. Bit of exercise, you know.”

Wells Adams isn't holding back his thoughts on the Bachelor world.

However, Adams wasn't convinced that the gorgeous lawyer from Dallas, Texas, will be next season's star. He cited producers ultimately choosing JoJo Fletcher to be the season 12 Bachelorette instead of Caila Quinn, who's half Filipino.

Smoke and mirrors. That’s the tactic that has been employed by Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and the creative team at FX ahead of American Horror Story season 6.
With little under a month to go until the show’s much-anticipated return to the airwaves, Murphy and Co. have remained mum on the characters and setting featured in the imminent sixth season. Don’t bank your hopes on those unnerving teasers, after FX revealed many of them to be total misdirects. Whether today’s snippet falls into that camp will be told in time, but the most prominent theory pins American Horror Story S6 in the year 1590, where the upcoming batch of episodes will seemingly explore the confounding mystery behind the Roanoke Colony.
The jury’s still out on that one, though. On the topic of toying with expectations, FX CEO John Landgraf stated recently that,

This summer marks the 20th Anniversary of the hit blockbuster Independence Day, which turned Will Smith into a massive superstar overnight. It became the first movie ever to gross more than $500 million worldwide, and, naturally, after that movie started raking it in at the box office, everyone wanted Will Smith in their movies. Over the next few years, Will Smith would go on to star in hits such as Men in Black and Enemy of the State, but the actor recently addressed one of his missteps, the 1999 Western action adaptation of the Wild Wild West TV show which brought in some sci-fi elemenst to boot.
Wild Wild West wasn't an absolute bomb in theaters, but it still came in far below the rest of his hits over the late 1990s. Wild Wild West took in $113.4 million domestically and $222.1 million worldwide, from a hefty $170 million budget back in 1999. Will Smith starred...

Did you pay good money from your weekend job at Jamba Juice to see the universally-loathed 1999 adaptation of Wild Wild West, which one contemporary critic called “extremely stupid and incompetent” and another deemed a “colossal waste of talent”? If the answer is “yes,” then Will Smith is very, very sorry about that. In a roundup of the actor’s Tuesday talk at the Cannes Lions marketing conference (a.k.a. “the only truly global meeting-place for branded communications professionals to connect, share and discover,” whew!), THR reports that Smith “repeatedly brought up 1999's Wild Wild West as a personal low point,” and they aren’t kidding. Though the superstar has been involved in other notable stinkers such as The Legend of Bagger Vance and After Earth, he clearly holds a special place of unquenchable scorn in his heart for the millennial stinker, which saw him starring opposite such other slumming talents as Kevin Kline,...

Now You See Me was certainly an interesting movie, and much of it was entertaining, but the idea of a sequel isn’t something that is born out of the original films story. No, it’s a film for which a sequel makes no sense, because actually the film ultimately makes no sense, but it’s also a film that made well over $300 million on an approximately $70 million budget.
The first part of the film has a lot of things going for it, including simply the fact that it took a lot of notes from some of the better television efforts of recent years. The second part of the film may as well have been written by another person, who wasn’t absolutely sure what happened in the first part. Abandoning the general setup of what might happen if magicians used their abilities for more than just performing on stage,...

If Agent Carter isn't renewed for season 3, at least the season 2 finale provides a satisfying ending...
This review contains spoilers.
2.10 Hollywood Ending
Well, it’s fair to say that didn’t disappoint. It’s safe to say I didn’t get everything I wanted – Dottie to come back, for instance – but other than that it’s hard to be upset about anything in this episode. This series has really been more about the characters than the plot, and pretty much everyone’s been through the wringer by the time the episode ends. Predictably, not everyone survived, but it’s safe to say that the death wasn’t at all expected.
But first things first. If anyone’s fate bothers me here, it’s Jason Wilkes’. Whether or not we believe that he was being influenced by Zero Matter (and the show never quite convinced me he was...

Face Off Season 10 episode 8 has the artists dealing with Smoke & Mirrors. The artists have to turn their beautifully made up model queens/sorceresses into the ‘true’ evil version of herself. They get several styles of witches to choose from. Channel Guide Magazine has received another exclusive preview clip of this week’s episode of Face Off. This week’s episode is Smoke and Mirrors: Inspired by fairy tales, the artists must transform beautiful models into their ancient, evil selves revealed against a magic mirror. In this clip, Rob is struggling with his face sculpt. His character is female and he thinks his sculpture is reading too male. He calls on Anna and Mel for help. Where on some other reality shows, this might spark a passive-aggressive reaction either in the workroom or in snarky confessional commentary. But not here. Mel & … Continue reading →

Agent Carter season 2 has so far delivered nine straight episodes of top-quality TV. Can its finale continue that winning streak?
This review contains spoilers.
2.8 The Edge Of Mystery & 2.9 A Little Song And Dance
In another double-length instalment ahead of the upcoming (single-episode) finale, Agent Carter continues its unbroken run of greatness. Which makes it all the more galling that the only reason they’re pumping these episodes out so quickly is because the ratings are in the toilet. It’s no wonder people have a low opinion of network television when smart, original work like Agent Carter can’t get people interested (I dare not even look at how well Supergirl is or isn’t doing).
The latter of the two episodes was a particular rollercoaster, opening with a frankly exquisite musical number that had virtually no reason to exist and was therefore the best thing they...

Agent Carter continues to shine in season two. It's just a shame that ABC is burning through its episodes two-a-week...
This review contains spoilers.
2.6 Life Of The Party & 2.7 Monsters
Well, after wondering where Dottie was last episode, this pair of episodes brought her right back to the forefront of the series in a big way, and it was everything I dreamed. Her gloriously sadistic, sarcastic outlook contrasts brilliantly with the chipper, moralising Brits in the cast and the predatory vibe she gives off towards Peggy in particular could not be more glorious. Forget the increasingly uninteresting Sousa/Peggy/Wilkes love triangle, I’m far more interested in a Dottie/Peggy/Jarvis thing.
At least Wilkes finally grew some personality this week. After spending the entire run of the series grinning dimly at Peggy the writers finally gave him a chance to wrestle with the enormity of his...

Even if its plot stopped moving altogether, hanging out with Agent Carter's hugely fun characters would be attraction enough...
This review contains spoilers.
2.5 The Atomic Job
Everyone loves a heist, and that goes double for the Marvel Universe. Agent Carter’s might not quite be on the scale of Ant-Man’s (in more ways than one) but with a pair of atomic bombs at the heart of it, you can’t argue that it’s not high stakes.
More than any other week, this one shows that the ensemble cast of Agent Carter is one of its biggest strengths. Adding new field agents in the form of Rose and Samberly – unconventional though they are – simply added to the amazing screwball tone the series has been nailing since its return. It worked because they weren’t just there for the ride – they had their own jokes and dynamic as well.

Agent Carter season 2 explores Peggy and Whitney Frost's backstories in Smoke And Mirrors...
This review contains spoilers.
2.4 Smoke And Mirrors
If there’s anything positive to say about Agent Carter’s reduced series-length compared to most Marvel properties, it’s that it doesn’t hang about. Last season had nothing even approaching filler, and this one is galloping along just as satisfyingly.
If anything, a little more time to build up the Arena Club might’ve made it more satisfying when they blew the lid off the conspiracy (sorta) but beyond that it’s hard to complain. Effectively having Carter shut out of the Ssr (again) could seem repetitive, were it not for the fact that this time she has a network of allies inside the organisation too.
Beyond that, this episode’s exploration of Peggy’s backstory is both long-overdue and entirely welcome, not to mention smartly deployed within the episode.

This episode of Agent Carter, "Smoke and Mirrors," gives us a glimpse into Peggy and Whitney's completely different histories and how they became who they are today. While Peggy starts down the path the world expects of her, she ultimately makes the decision to change course and become a spy. Whitney, though, basically has the opposite life. She was a strong-willed, smart kid. But soon her mom tells her that only looks matter and she goes on to become the Hollywood star the world knows. Of course, she ultimately becomes a great actress, playing Calvin and everyone else to her own advantage.

The company will follow up its box-office hit Marshland with the $1.9m production.
Seville-based outfit La Zanfona Producciones is set to produce a futuristic film called Shadow Inside (La Sombra Adentro) and a comedy titled Mi Cadida Cofradia, following the success of Alberto Rodriguez’s thriller Marshland, which took close to $10m in Spain last year and has sold well internationally.
Shadow Inside will be set in 2024 and tell the story of six soldiers who survive a Civil War in Spain and escape to a small village where strange things start to happen.
It will be the feature directing debut of Seville-based director David Sainz, who achieved a cult following with his web series Malviviendo and TV movie Obra 67. Sainz’s company Diffferent (sic) Entertainment will co-produce.
“We are looking to shoot Shadow Inside next year in Seville and the budget will be €1.8m [$1.9m] euros,” Gervasio Iglesias, head of La Zanfona, told ScreenDaily...

Sky Arts has earned some nerdy respect by green-lighting a series inspired by Neil Gaiman’s short stories…
Here’s some exciting news. Sky Arts have ordered Neil Gaiman’s Likely Stories, a new TV series based on “the fantastical short stories from the pen of Neil Gaiman.”
We’re told that the anthology series will consist of four episodes, with an ensemble cast that appears in all of them. Exactly which Gaiman stories the show will adapt remain to be seen. There are plenty to choose from, though, across Gaiman’s four volumes of short stores - Angels And Visitations, Smoke And Mirrors, Fragile Things and Trigger Warning. One story that’s probably off the table is How To Talk To Girls At Parties – that one’s already in production as a movie.
We do know that independent production company Sid Gentle Films will produce the episodes,...

Two weeks ago, I posted an item about the trailer for Atlanta based filmmaker Artemus Jenkins' ("P.O.P.," "Smoke and Mirrors") new upcoming documentary, "If You Know the Words, Feel Free." The film was shot during "Afropunk" week in Atlanta, and the filmmaker says he made it to "highlight a group of people, artists and creatives inhabiting Atlanta, all hoping to find and define our success and legacy, ranging from painters and graphic designers to musicians and authors." However, what was planned to be a simple film "then... kinda turned into something else." Jenkins went deeper saying that his new film "deals with life and...

Atlanta based filmmaker Artemus Jenkins, whose previous works include the web series documentary "P.O.P." about the women who work in an Atlanta strip club, and his relationship dramedy "Smoke and Mirrors," has a new and decidedly different project coming soon - a documentary entitled "If you Know the Words Feel Free". Interestingly, the film was not originally conceived as a documentary but, according to the filmmaker himself, was first designed as a series of five minute short films intended to highlight some of the Atlanta creative artists during Afropunk week in the city, but "then it kinda turned into something else". After several days of...

Prior to the release of Avengers: Age of Ultron earlier this year, both Idris Elba and Tom Hiddleston were primed to play a part in Joss Whedon’s sequel in some shape or form, and it was only when the blockbuster sequel released in May that it was revealed to be within Thor’s nightmarish dream sequence. How and ever, as it turns out, the latter actor – who plays fan-favorite villain Loki in the Marvel Cinematic Universe – was conspicuously absent from the final cut released in theaters and now Hiddleston has spilled the beans on Marvel’s decision to axe him from the scene.
Per Digital Spy, the Crimson Peak star touched upon his powerful role as the God of Mischief, and why it was ultimately the test audiences that sealed the studio’s decision to remove Hiddleston’s Loki from Age of Ultron entirely.

Short stories often make the best source material for feature films. They offer pitches with a gem of a concept that can be expanded into a more complex story. Fans of the original short story aren’t as prone to get pissed at changes from the book as fans of novels since they can acknowledge that there naturally are alterations when expanding a short story. Glaring omissions due to time constraints aren’t likely to be a problem like they are when adapting 500-page books to two-hour movies. “Brokeback Mountain,” “The Fly,” “Children of the Corn,” “The Absent-Minded Professor,” “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,” “Total Recall” (and a slew of other Philip K. Dick sci-fi imaginings) started out as short stories. Neil Gaiman’s uniquely enchanting, haunting imagination has inspired a handful of film adaptations, including stop-motion movie “Coraline” and the far-too-much-fun “Stardust,” which starred Robert De Niro and a pre-“Daredevil” Charlie Cox.

Now that season two of the relationship comedy/drama :Smoke and Mirrors: is well on its way, new episodes are coming out on a regular basis, once a week. Created by Artemus Jenkins and writer and director KarynRose Bruyning, the series takes a decidedly off center look at modern romance. The just released Episode 4, according to Jenkins, "follows up from the developments of last season, in which Laloni told Dixon, 'It's always about you,' which may be true. It might be so true that he neglected to learn about Laloni's past. When faced with Laloni's life before him, Dixon has zero chill!” And remember, the creators will be offering two options for viewing this season. The series will...

Created by Artemus Jenkins and writer and director KarynRose Bruyning, the series takes a decidedly off center look at modern romance. In the just released Episode 3 “if love is a battlefield, exes are landmines and Dixon seems to always be on the verge of getting blown up. When Laloni and Kia cross paths, will Dixon make it out alive?” In addition, as I have mentioned before, the creators will be offering two options for viewing this season. The series will still continue on YouTube, but they will also be making the...

Atlanta-based filmmaker Artemus Jenkins and writer and director KarynRose Bruyning together have created and star in the web dramedy series "Smoke and Mirrors," which deals with relationships, and all things, small and big, that either makes them work or don’t. After a successful first season of the series, they have been, for the past year, working on season two, of which the first two episodes are now online. In episode one “in the midst of figuring out love, Dixon's got to figure out work. Once booming, business has slowed down and now Dixon's got to find a new source of inspiration." Meanwhile in episode two, “sometimes in love, you're going to...

Watch New Full Length Trailer for Season Two of Relationship Dramedy Web Series, 'Smoke and Mirrors'
I admit that I really like the work of Atlanta-based filmmaker Artemus Jenkins and writer and director KarynRose Bruyning. They have a laid back, sort of off-center, quirky style to their work. Nothing is over the top or in your face. It doesn’t “come to you”, you have to come to it. And either you get into their own particular vibe, or you don’t. And together they have created and star in the web dramedy series "Smoke and Mirrors," which dealt with relationships, and all things, small and big, that either makes them work or don’t. Now with season 2 about to begin on July 15th, they’re keeping the plot details a secret for now, except to say that they “don’t want to...

Teen Wolf season 5 is in a chaotic hurry to get plenty of things happening at once, which is fine by our reviewer...
This review contains spoilers.
5.1 Creatures Of The Night
The promise was that the awakening of the Nemeton in season three would serve as a beacon to supernatural creatures, with Scott's own reputation as a True Alpha only adding to the appeal of Beacon Hills. We've seen a lot of monsters come out of the woodwork since then, and a lot of new creatures added to the Teen Wolf mythology in the process. It's been an interesting experience, both for Scott and for the viewers at home, because we've been thrown a lot of new creatures in a short time without a ton of introduction.
That trend continues in the fifth season opener. There's plenty of cast turnover behind the scenes; Coach isn't returning for the fifth season, thanks...
