On Tuesday, 7 June 2022, Channel 4 Television announced that they have commissioned STV Studios to produce a second series of the prison drama. Series two will filmed in the iconic Kelvin Hall in Glasgow and is expected to air in early 2023.
The seemingly high proportion of female prison officers (in a male prison) is actually broadly accurate with UK prisons staff ratios being slightly biased with more females.
Long Marsh is not a real prison - the name is derived to be similar to Long Lartin in Worcestershire. The series was however filmed in a real prison, Peterhead in Scotland plus studio film sets.
