Halloween’s beloved Final Girl, Jamie Lee Curtis, continues to thrive in Hollywood. The 66-year-old thespian finally won her first Academy Award back in 2023, and now the Oscar winner has announced that filming on Season 1 of Prime Video and Blumhouse Television's upcoming streaming project, Scarpetta, has officially wrapped. Curtis, who stars with Nicole Kidman in the crime thriller, wrote in a post she added to her official Instagram account:

"It takes a village to make a TV show from a great book series come to screen life! #scarpetta Season One is done for Jlc and I couldn’t be a prouder producer/actor!"

News that Curtis had joined the Prime Video project broke back in September 2024. The Academy Award-winning performer will not only star in the show, but she will also serve as an executive producer. Oscar-winner Kidman will also be pulling double duty as actress and EP alongside the Halloween icon.

One of the original “Scream Queens,” as well as a legitimate sex symbol through much of the 1980s and ’90s, Jamie Lee Curtis had managed to fit in one box or another throughout most of her career, a fact made all the more clear when one learns she was born into Hollywood royalty as the daughter of screen legends Janet Leigh and Tony Curtis. However, as Curtis turned the corner on 60 a few years back, she realized she needed to stop meeting everyone else’s expectations and go after the kind of work that truly fed her creativity.

“I blew up the mood boards because I’m not who you think I am,” Curtis said in a recent interview with Empire. “That’s probably the biggest crux of it: I’m not who you think I am. Let me show you. I am way more than you think I am.

During a recent interview for Time magazine, the Oscar winner opened up about surpassing her 2017 goal of working with a woman director every 18 months since the height of the #MeToo movement. Over the past eight years, she’s collaborated with at least 19 female filmmakers on movies and TV shows.

Nicole Kidman made a vow in 2017 to work with a woman director every 18 months. To say she has made good on that promise would be an understatement. The Oscar winner has teamed up with a women director either as a producer or as an actor 19 times over the last eight years, with more female-directed projects already in the pipeline.

Speaking in a new interview with Time magazine, Kidman explained that one of her reasons behind making the vow is a double standard that women directors face. These filmmakers are under pressure to “be perfect” when their movies get funded and there’s no room for error. Whereas male directors are more likely to get a chance to rebound, female directors are knocked down if they don’t deliver a perfect movie.

“It can be changed,” Kidman said, “but it can only be changed by actually being in the films of women.

Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban’s Los Angeles home was broken into and ransacked on Valentine’s Day, police confirmed to Ktla. The LAPD responded to a break-in at the A-list couple’s home on Feb. 14 at around 8 p.m. local time.

According to Variety‘s Marc Malkin, it didn’t work out for Ariana to star in Evita due to scheduling conflicts. She was to portray the lead, Eva Perón.

The musical, lead by director Jamie Lloyd, is scheduled to run from June 16-September 6 at London Palladium on the West End.

Patti LuPone originated the role on Broadway in 1979, while Madonna portrayed the character in the 1996 movie adaptation.

The Oscar winner was in talks to star in Jamie Lloyd’s revival of “Evita” at the London Palladium, but sources tell me things didn’t work out “due to scheduling.” The musical is scheduled to run June 16 to Sept. 6.

DeBose is currently shooting “Scarpetta,” the Amazon Prime Video series adaptation of Patricia Cornwell’s Kay Scarpetta novels with Nicole Kidman and Jamie Lee Curtis.

Variety reports that Amazon MGM Studios is developing a TV series based on Steve Berry’s Cotton Malone books, a collection of 18 bestselling novels starting with ‘The Templar Legacy’ in 2006 up to ‘The Atlas Maneuver’ released in February 2024.

With over 15 million copies sold worldwide, the books follow the adventures of Cotton Malone, a former U.S. Justice Department agent turned antiquarian book dealer.

Malone is drawn back into the fold to uncover deep-seated secrets that threaten the future of the U.S. His quest leads him to thrilling international escapades, tackling enemies both foreign and domestic.

Brian Young, who created ‘Fate: The Winx Saga’ for Netflix and has worked on ‘The Vampire Diaries,’ will write and executive produce the series.

Steve Berry, alongside Patrick Moran and Lynley Bird of Pkm Productions, is also set to executive produce under their overall deal with Amazon MGM Studios.

A TV series adaptation of the Cotton Malone books by Steve Berry is in development at Amazon MGM Studios, Variety has learned exclusively.

There are currently 18 bestselling novels in the Cotton Malone series, which began with “The Templar Legacy” in 2006 and with “The Atlas Maneuver” being the most recently published in February 2024. The series has sold over 15 million copies worldwide. It is not currently known which book would serve as the basis for the first season of the show should it move forward at Amazon.

Per the show’s official logline, “An ex-u.S. Justice Department agent turned antiquarian book dealer, Cotton Malone continues to serve his country when secrets and conspiracies buried deep in America’s past come to light and threaten its future. These action-packed mysteries take Malone on international adventures, rooting out enemies not only in hostile nations, but in the highest echelons of the United States’ most powerful and clandestine cabals.

HBO has given a series order to Dtf St. Louis, a seven-episode dark comedy “about a love triangle between three adults experiencing middle-age malaise, that leads to one of them ending up dead,” according to the cabler’s official logline.

The 37-year-old actor – best known for his roles in Weeds, 17 Again, and It’s Complicated – has been cast in the new thriller series Scarpetta, which stars Nicole Kidman and Jamie Lee Curtis.

The “Weeds” alum joins an ensemble that also includes Ariana DeBose, Bobby Cannavale, Simon Baker, Rosy McEwen and Jake Cannavale.

The series, an adaptation of Patricia Cornwell’s Kay Scarpetta novels, hails from Blumhouse and Amazon MGM Studios. Liz Sarnoff will serve as writer, executive producer, and showrunner.

According to the logline, the show “follows Kay Scarpetta (Kidman), the chief medical examiner, as she returns to Virginia and resumes her former position with complex relationships, both personal and professional – including her sister Dorothy (Curtis), with plenty of grudges and secrets to uncover.”

Parrish will recur as the younger version of Benton Wesley, presumably in flashbacks. Benton is an FBI profiler who strikes up a romance with Kay in the books.

Is Nicole Kidman the hardest working person in Hollywood at the moment?

In the last year or so, Nicole Kidman has starred in “A Family Affair” and “Babygirl.” On the TV side, she starred in “Expats” and “The Perfect Couple” and returns to Taylor Sheridan’s “Lioness” for its second season, launching on Paramount+ on Oct. 27.

At the same time, she’ll be seen in Season 2 of the Hulu series “Nine Perfect Strangers,” the animated movie “Spellbound and the thriller “Holland, Michigan.” She also plays the title role in “Scarpetta,” Amazon’s upcoming series adaptation of Patricia Cornwell’s mystery books, opposite Jamie Lee Curtis and Ariana DeBose. Based on Patricia Cornwell’s book series, the mystery thriller series will center on Kay Scarpetta (Kidman), the Chief Medical Examiner, as “she returns to Virginia and resumes her former position with complex relationships, both personal and professional – including her sister Dorothy (Curtis), with plenty of grudges and secrets to uncover,” according to the official logline.

Liz Sarnoff is set to serve as writer and showrunner for the series, and will executive produce alongside Curtis and Kidman. The series hails from Blumhouse Television and Amazon MGM Studios in association with Blossom Films and Comet Pictures, with David Gordon Green attached to direct the first two episodes.
