Halloween’s beloved Final Girl, Jamie Lee Curtis, continues to thrive in Hollywood. The 66-year-old thespian finally won her first Academy Award back in 2023, and now the Oscar winner has announced that filming on Season 1 of Prime Video and Blumhouse Television's upcoming streaming project, Scarpetta, has officially wrapped. Curtis, who stars with Nicole Kidman in the crime thriller, wrote in a post she added to her official Instagram account:
"It takes a village to make a TV show from a great book series come to screen life! #scarpetta Season One is done for Jlc and I couldn’t be a prouder producer/actor!"
News that Curtis had joined the Prime Video project broke back in September 2024. The Academy Award-winning performer will not only star in the show, but she will also serve as an executive producer. Oscar-winner Kidman will also be pulling double duty as actress and EP alongside the Halloween icon.

One of the original “Scream Queens,” as well as a legitimate sex symbol through much of the 1980s and ’90s, Jamie Lee Curtis had managed to fit in one box or another throughout most of her career, a fact made all the more clear when one learns she was born into Hollywood royalty as the daughter of screen legends Janet Leigh and Tony Curtis. However, as Curtis turned the corner on 60 a few years back, she realized she needed to stop meeting everyone else’s expectations and go after the kind of work that truly fed her creativity.
“I blew up the mood boards because I’m not who you think I am,” Curtis said in a recent interview with Empire. “That’s probably the biggest crux of it: I’m not who you think I am. Let me show you. I am way more than you think I am.

Nicole Kidman is practicing what she preaches.
During a recent interview for Time magazine, the Oscar winner opened up about surpassing her 2017 goal of working with a woman director every 18 months since the height of the #MeToo movement. Over the past eight years, she’s collaborated with at least 19 female filmmakers on movies and TV shows.
Kidman explained that often, women directors face undue pressure to “be perfect” with their debut projects. However, the Big Little Lies star said, “It can be changed, but it can only be changed by actually being in the films of women.”
The actress is on a mission to use her immense star power to be a force for change in Hollywood. Most recently, she teamed up with Babygirl director Halina Reijn in their 2024 erotic thriller. Reijn previously told The Hollywood Reporter for Kidman’s December cover story, “She is one of the few people...

Nicole Kidman made a vow in 2017 to work with a woman director every 18 months. To say she has made good on that promise would be an understatement. The Oscar winner has teamed up with a women director either as a producer or as an actor 19 times over the last eight years, with more female-directed projects already in the pipeline.
Speaking in a new interview with Time magazine, Kidman explained that one of her reasons behind making the vow is a double standard that women directors face. These filmmakers are under pressure to “be perfect” when their movies get funded and there’s no room for error. Whereas male directors are more likely to get a chance to rebound, female directors are knocked down if they don’t deliver a perfect movie.

Ariana DeBose is no longer being attached to lead an Evita revival!
The 34-year-old Tony-nominated actress was rumored to be in talks to star in an upcoming production of the musical, but Variety reports she is no longer attached.
Earlier this month, she said they were “70% there” of working out the details.
Keep reading to find out more…
According to Variety‘s Marc Malkin, it didn’t work out for Ariana to star in Evita due to scheduling conflicts. She was to portray the lead, Eva Perón.
The musical, lead by director Jamie Lloyd, is scheduled to run from June 16-September 6 at London Palladium on the West End.
Patti LuPone originated the role on Broadway in 1979, while Madonna portrayed the character in the 1996 movie adaptation.
Currently, Ariana is in the midst of filming the upcoming Prime Video series Scarpetta, which received a two-season order and also stars Jamie Lee Curtis and Nicole Kidman.

Ariana DeBose won’t be crying for Argentina.
The Oscar winner was in talks to star in Jamie Lloyd’s revival of “Evita” at the London Palladium, but sources tell me things didn’t work out “due to scheduling.” The musical is scheduled to run June 16 to Sept. 6.
DeBose is currently shooting “Scarpetta,” the Amazon Prime Video series adaptation of Patricia Cornwell’s Kay Scarpetta novels with Nicole Kidman and Jamie Lee Curtis.
“We’re 70% there,” DeBose told Deadline’s Baz Bamigboye in January about her possible “Evita” deal.
“Evita,” from Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice, tells the story of Argentine political powerhouse Eva Perón. Elaine Paige played the title role in the original 1978 West End production in London. Patti LuPone originated the role on Broadway in 1979. Madonna starred in the 1996 film adaptation.
My sources insist that DeBose is interested in returning to Broadway “when the time is right.

As one of the most beloved actresses of this, or any generation, Jamie Lee Curtis has seemingly done it all. From battling Michael Myers in Halloween to hanging from a helicopter in True Lies, nothing has been off limits. Heck, she even put on a pair of leotards in the 1985 film Perfect to play an aerobics instructor, gyrating her way to stardom along with co-star John Travolta. Now, 40 years later, Curtis recreated the famous workout scene — this time with Jimmy Fallon — and the results are spectacular.
Appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon (seen below), Curtis and the late night host shared a laugh after watching the original scene from Perfect, which saw her and Travolta sweating up a storm in an aerobics class. The duo then revealed that there was some behind-the-scenes footage that had never been seen, and presented fans with a humorous recreation of the iconic moment,...

Nicole Kidman thanked her late parents at the Palm Springs International Film Festival on Friday night as she accepted the International Star Award. It was a moving moment. The well-known actor, who lost her mother, Janelle Ann Kidman, in September 2024, had to fight back tears as she addressed the crowd at the Palm Springs Convention Center.
Kidman spoke with a shaking voice, “I went home for Christmas.” “I’ve lost both my parents, and I’m in that place, like, oh, ah, Ok, this is different now.” Kidman, who was in “Babygirl,” didn’t attend the Venice Film Festival last year because her mother died. She was able to show her gratitude on this platform, which she hadn’t been able to do months before.

Nicole Kidman is “still grieving.”
The Babygirl star broke down in tears on the Palm Springs Convention Center stage on Friday night during the Film Awards while dedicating an acting trophy to her late mother, Janelle Ann Kidman, who died last fall.
Kidman, accepting an International Star Award during the starry kick-off to the Palm Springs International Film Festival, said she was fresh from spending the holidays in her native Australia. “I went home over Christmas,” she said. “I’ve lost both my parents, and I’m in that place, like, oh, ah, Ok, this is different now. They’ve given me the resilience and they’ve given me the love and they’ve given me the strength to keep moving forward.”

A24’s new erotic thriller Babygirl has caused a lot of buzz this holiday season, but not for the reasons you might think. While some have called it "sexy, dark and unpredictable," others are signaling the noticeable age gap between stars Nicole Kidman (57) and Harris Dickinson (28) as a point of contention. Now, director Halina Reijn has found herself coming to the defense of her new movie, which opened on Christmas day with a box office take of $1.5 million.
Babygirl stars Kidman as Romy Mathis, the CEO of a tech company in New York City who begins a torrid affair with her much younger intern, Samuel (Dickinson). The film is currently Certified Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes with a 77% rating, while its Popcornmeter sits much lower at 54%. In what is possibly the best news you’ll hear all day, it’s rumored that Jamie Lee Curtis is set to play the lead role in a new Murder, She Wrote film courtesy of Universal Pictures. Curtis will take over for the late Angela Lansbury, who portrayed the character of Jessica Fletcher in the original series that ran on CBS from 1984 to 1996, and in four made-for-tv movies.
Per Deadline, Curtis is the front-runner right now to portray Fletcher in the Murder, She Wrote movie, which is being written by Lauren Schuker Blum and Rebecca Angelo, the same duo that penned the 2023 critically acclaimed film Dumb Money. Plot details remain thin at this point, but in the series, Lansbury’s character of Fletcher was a retired teacher-turned mystery writer who regularly inserted herself into Cabot Cove police investigations to help solve various murder cases, so we expect the movie to...

Nicole Kidman’s new film, Babygirl, opens with a scene moviegoers may think they have seen many times before — an actress having a very pretty orgasm. For a global movie star with five Oscar nominations and two Emmys, you might even consider the opening risqué. But it’s what follows that reveals Kidman to be in fresh cinematic territory and why she calls this role “a calling.” In subsequent scenes, director Halina Reijn divulges that the intended audience for the opening breathy performance had been the character’s handsome, loving husband (Antonio Banderas) — and Kidman delivers other, much more feral climaxes without him. In the A24 movie, a gender-flipped love letter to erotic thrillers like 9½ Weeks and Basic Instinct, Kidman plays a powerful CEO, wife and mother whose attraction to a brazen young male intern (Harris Dickinson) threatens to blow up her Instagram-perfect life.

As a Hollywood veteran with a star-studded resume, Nicole Kidman is no stranger to the ups and downs of life in the entertainment industry but she also doesn't hesitate to criticize that industry when necessary. In a recent interview, the award-winning actress observed a drastic decrease in the number of new television shows and films, saying that it's harder now than ever to greenlight projects that aren't guaranteed to be immediate crowd-pleasers - such as a certain Marvel Jesus.
Speaking to Vanity Fair about her upcoming erotic drama Babygirl, Kidman reflected on the difficulty of securing new roles in an era where fewer and fewer directors seem willing to take creative risks. "Everything's hard now," she stated. "Actually everything. I mean, maybe not Deadpool, but theres nothing thats, 'Oh my gosh. Yep. This is it. Greenlight, lets go.' Reflecting on her wide-ranging oeuvre — which will include the forthcoming Babygirl — Nicole Kidman said it seems harder to make and greenlight projects nowadays, especially if they’re not big tentpole draws.
“Everything’s hard now,” she told Vanity Fair in a new interview. “Actually everything. I mean, maybe not Deadpool, but there’s nothing that’s, ‘Oh my gosh. Yep. This is it. Greenlight, let’s go.’ Or maybe it’s just the things that I do. [Laughs] I just think that’s the nature of what we’re dealing with now. Things are shrinking in terms of shows being done and films being made. I definitely feel it. I’m sure most people in the industry feel it. I know the crews feel it. I know writers feel it.”
When asked if the increased difficulty scares her, the Academy Award winner answered, “Yes. Well, I don’t know if it scares me.

In an interview with Vanity Fair, Nicole Kidman was asked if there were any directors she'd love to work with that she hadn't worked with already. The actress listed several names, including Paul Thomas Anderson, Spike Jonze, and Kathryn Bigelow, but one particular name mentioned by Kidman may have come with a little bit of shade.
Ive always said I want to work with [Martin] Scorsese, if he does a film with women.
This is likely in reference to Scorsese's penchant for making films mostly about (and even arguably for) men, a criticism of his work that made headlines in 2019 when the director stated he didn't "have time anymore" to write for women.
Scorsese and his fans point to several titles in the filmmaker's large body of work that feature strong roles for women, namely Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore, one of only a few titles to feature a woman as the protagonist.

“Get Millie Black” is exactly what it sounds like: Someone is on the run, but who can stop them?
Well, perhaps the ex-Scotland Yard detective of the title. Tamara Lawrance stars as Millie-Jean Black, an investigator who returns to Kingston, Jamaica to work missing persons cases.
Per the official synopsis, Millie “soon finds herself on a quest to save a sibling who won’t be saved, to find a child who can’t be found, to solve a case that will blow her world apart and prove almost as tough to crack as Millie Black.”
The HBO limited series is created and executive produced by Booker Prize award-winning author Marlon James. Joe Dempsie, Gershwyn Eustache Jnr, and Chyna McQueen co-star.
“Get Millie Black” is produced for HBO and Channel 4 by Motive Pictures. Creator James executive produces along with Jami O’Brien, Simon Maxwell (CEO Motive Pictures), and Leopoldo Gout.

At the same time, she’ll be seen in Season 2 of the Hulu series “Nine Perfect Strangers,” the animated movie “Spellbound and the thriller “Holland, Michigan.” She also plays the title role in “Scarpetta,” Amazon’s upcoming series adaptation of Patricia Cornwell’s mystery books, opposite Jamie Lee Curtis and Ariana DeBose. Just weeks after it was announced that the award-winning actress would be joining Jamie Lee Curtis in an adaptation of Scarpetta, shes already set her next project. According to Deadline, Kidman will work under her Blossom Films banner with Per Saari, as well as Made Up Stories Bruna Papandrea and Steve Hutensky on a series adaptation of Here One Moment by Liane Moriarty.
