A parody of bad French cinema

I just do not know why an actress with the ability of Marion Cotillard would put her name to a script this terrible. It is almost a parody of a bad French art house film. Nothing is explained properly, it's a paper thin script filled with over acting and historonics. The time absolutely dragged.in the cinema, and I couldn't wait for it to end.

The conflict between the brother and sister is never fully explained, and the film loses any kind of power. I had read the bad reviews, but did not want to believe them, in hindsight I am very sorry that I didn't.

Weak writing and actors struggling to breath life into a very poor script.

Unexpected...

Everything rings false in this caricature of French cinema. Not a scene that rings true, characters without any consistency but all hysterical, dialogues and situations having most of the time no sense. Melvil Poupeau and Marion Cotillard may vociferate, tear, moan while drinking strong vodka and tablets of Tranxene, their story of hatred touches us without moving the other. Is it because they play badly or is it because it's badly written? Probably both, but the only tear that makes you want to shed this film is about the cinema whose theaters have been emptying for 2 years: it is not with such turnips that the public will return.

Don't be fooled by the critics reviews

This movie is the definition of disappointment.

The script kept building up, and you were waiting for a moment for a situation that broke everything between them, but instead, you got a painful to watch a couple of scenes to make you regret watching the film.

The story is so unconvincing to the point that maybe the writer himself doesn't know what happened between them to hate each other and COME ON! We get it ,she was jealous of him, their father was a narcissist and they scapegoated their son.

Their acting is good but they can't save such bad script.

What do you want? Do you want to make a movie about a dysfunctional family but put a fake french artistic spell on all the conversations. And what a beautiful ending for poor me, obnoxious, oblivious and self centered people.
