Goofs
In Bel été pour Fanny (1992), Alice's letter to Axel telling him that she is pregnant is dated March 14, 1963. In this film, when Axel and Ivar are trying to figure out which one of them is the father of Alice's daughter Fanny, Axel says that he may have fathered her on August 22, 1964. This is long after Fanny would have been born, let alone conceived.

A Very Special Film

This is one of my personal favorite feel good movies. I saw it on TV once and bought a new universal-region DVD player just so I could buy & play the DVD. It's a really original concept full of delightful characters, fairy tale like warmth and local color and a marvelous music score. I find myself smiling all the way through except when I'm howling out loud at the juxtaposition of naivete and sophistication. It is a bit long and drags in spots but better than most of what TV generally offers. I also have the sequel and like most such, it is not quite up to the level of the original.
