Palmer, the multihyphenate actor-podcaster-host who won an Image Award earlier this week for hosting Password, beat out a loaded group for the Entertainer of the Year honor, winning over Cynthia Erivo, Kendrick Lamar, Kevin Hart and Shannon Sharpe.

In his final weekend as Wheel Of Fortune host before Ryan Seacrest takes over in the Sept. 9 season premiere, Pat Sajak won for Outstanding Host For A Game Show at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards Saturday. It was Sajak’s first win in the category since 1998.
Sajak was not on hand to accept the award for his final season of Wheel Of Fortune which he is leaving after four decades. He previously won the Emmy for Outstanding Game Show Host in 1993, 1997, and 1998 and was nominated for the award, which moved from the Daytime to Primetime Emmys last year, a total of 23 times. Sajak also received a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2011 Daytime Emmy Awards.
The veteran game show host was clearly the sentimental favorite in the category, in which he faced Celebrity Family Feud‘s Steve Harvey, Jeopardy‘s Ken Jennings, Weakest Link‘s Jane Lynch and last year’s winner,...

Keke Palmer is heading to The Burbs as Peacock is adapting the beloved cult movie! Here's what we know! TV adaptations of movie comedies have been a staple for the business for decades. Most of the time, they go for famous films to try and bring that spirit to TV. There's also been some sequel series to past films and it's good to see TV work these films into a series, often successful.
Peacock, in particular, has been doing this with the Ted series based on the Seth McFarlane films. That's with the sequel series to Saved By the Bell and Punky Brewster and Bel-Air, a darker reboot of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Now, Peacock is getting into it again with plans to adapt the 1989 film The Burbs.
With the show just announced, and no other cast added yet, it's unlikely filming will begin before the end of 2024. It's...

The last of TV’s big five-original-nights-a-week late-night show is giving up 24 hours out of its schedule.
NBC will move “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” to four nights a week, the latest in a series of moves across the late-night daypart aimed at shoring up the economics of the programs as audiences move away from watching TV in linear fashion. Like its late-night rivals, “Tonight” will air in repeats on Fridays.
CBS’ “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” NBC’s “Late Night with Seth Meyers” and Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show” are already on a four-originals-per-week schedule.
NBC has been examining costs in late-night in recent months. Earlier this year, the network decided to eliminate the house band from Meyers’ 12:35 a.m. hour, a move that recently went into effect. But all of the networks have tested similar maneuvers in recent years.

With The Price Is Right on a summer break, fans anxiously await new episodes of their favorite game show.
Viewers have enjoyed the popular show for 52 seasons, and now Season 53 is coming.
Currently, only reruns of the Drew Carey-hosted show appear on television and through the Paramount+ library.
In recent weeks, social media buzzed about clips featuring Carey and various pricing games they either loathed or loved.
That included Rat Race, which some fans called “creepy” because it involved fake, colorful rats.
It’s believed that later this month, two versions of The Price Is Right are on the way for fans to enjoy.

It seems as though the past few years have brought a resurgence of game shows, which were once a staple of both daytime and primetime television viewing. As a kid, I relished snow days and sick days when I could miss school and curl up on the sofa to watch all my favorites – “Pyramid,” “Family Feud” and “Password” were just a few. Every day after school I rushed through my homework so that I’d have time to watch “Tattletales” and “Tic Tac Dough.”
Game shows go all the way back to the days of radio, with one such program becoming the first game show to air on broadcast television – “Truth or Consequences” debuted on July 1, 1941, and before long the genre became a popular form of entertainment. All “Big Three” networks carried a variety of game shows on both daytime and primetime schedules until their popularity began to fizzle in the ’80s and ’90s.

Most American millennials were devastated after the release of the shocking Netflix show, Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV this year. Unfortunately, the revelations of the show were only the beginning, and many more accounts of troubling stories have come to light since. Among the list of unfortunate exploited child actors is "Keke" Palmer, otherwise known as Lauren Keyana Palmer. Now 30 years old, Keke and her mom have recounted their experience working alongside Dan Schneider, including more disturbing accounts about the former star.
During an appearance on the podcast Baby, This Is Keke Palmer, Sharon Palmer explained that the whole atmosphere of the Dan Schneider set was very weird, very cultish. Not only were parents very secretive but everyone also took themselves way too seriously. Keke starred in multiple Nickolodeon shows growing up, including True Jackson VP, but didnt work with Dan Schneider directly. Regardless, Palmers mom...

This January, “Password” presenter Keke Palmer broke new ground as the first Black woman to ever win an Emmy for hosting a game show. As the 30-year-old faces the challenge of defending her crown at September’s Creative Arts ceremony, she has the potential to make history once again as her category’s all-time youngest two-time champion.
The current Best Game Show Host lineup almost perfectly matches last year’s, with the only difference being the inclusion of Jane Lynch (“Weakest Link”) instead of the ineligible Mayim Bialik (“Jeopardy!”). The three men filling out the remaining slots are newly solo “Jeopardy!” host Ken Jennings and three-time winners Steve Harvey (“Celebrity Family Feud”) and Pat Sajak (“Wheel of Fortune”).
In order to determine if anyone can stop Palmer from establishing a streak, let’s take a closer look at each nominee. Be sure to make your predictions in this and 30 other...

In 2023, after nearly five decades of the Best Game Show category being a Daytime Emmys staple, the TV academy resolved to begin bestowing the honor at their annual Primetime Creative Arts ceremony. In spite of this change, “Jeopardy!” handily claimed its fourth consecutive and 20th overall program victory last year, and it shouldn’t have much trouble extending its streak in 2024.
As has been the case every year since 2013, “Jeopardy!” is vying for this prize against “The Price Is Right,” which is seeking its ninth win (and first for its evening iteration) after last prevailing in 2018. The two game genre giants also face past victors “Family Feud,” “Password,” and “Wheel of Fortune,” the first of which is nominated for its celebrity edition for the first time ever.
In order to determine whether “Jeopardy!” truly has this in the bag, let’s take a closer look at each nominee. Be sure...

In June, Pat Sajak bid farewell to his regular daily duties as the host of “Wheel of Fortune” after more than 40 years in the role. The Emmys sent him off with a nomination for Best Game Show Host, but will he take home the trophy as a going away present? It would be his first victory this century.
For most of their history, Best Game Show and Best Game Show Host were given out at the Daytime Emmy Awards, but when the television academies realigned their categories, the game show prizes were shifted to the prime time event. In all, Sajak has been nominated 23 times — 21 in daytime, now two in prime time — and he has claimed the prize on three occasions: 1993, 1997 and 1998. So it has been more than a quarter-century since his last victory.

Steve Harvey caught a lot of crap from other comedians when he agreed to take over as the host of Family Feud. “You would not believe the calls I was getting from guys that I knew,” Harvey told Variety. “’Steve, you’re doing a game show, man? Getting into that cornball business?’ Well, do you know the checks they’re writing for this cornball business if you can take this cornball business and turn it into a hit?”
Who’s laughing now? While Harvey might have been one of the first big-name comics of his generation to take on a game show, plenty of others have jumped on board since. In fact, the list of funny names leading game shows is pretty dang long these days, including Patton Oswalt (The 1% Club), Rob Lowe (The Floor), Jane Lynch (The Weakest Link), Elizabeth Banks (Press Your Luck), Keke Palmer (Password), Jimmy Kimmel...

Those of us who grew up with “Sesame Street” still remember Guy Smiley, the stereotypical game show host as originally voiced by Jim Henson. Guy was loud, boisterous and the host of everything from “Here Is Your Life” and “Beat the Time” to “Name That Sound!”
Guy Smiley served a purpose for “Sesame Street,” and so did real-life game show hosts. It was a very specific group: Bob Barker, Monty Hall, Jack Berry, Bill Cullen, Wink Martindale, Bob Eubanks, Richard Dawson, Gene Rayburn, Alex Trebek and many more. As he retires, “Wheel of Fortune” host Pat Sajak may be the last of that string of game show hosts pretty much only known for being a game show host.
Game show host is a tough job, requiring a lot of skill to juggle the gameplay, keep the contestants involved and the audience entertained. But as parodies like “Guy Smiley” hint at,...
