Andrew Bird and Madison Cunningham have joined forces for a top-to-bottom cover of Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks’ 1973 album Buckingham Nicks. Cleverly titled Cunningham Bird, the project is due out October 18th via Loma Vista Recordings and Verve Forecast. To preview it, the duo have shared two of the record’s songs: “Crying in the Night” and “Crystal.” Stream both covers below.

Buckingham Nicks was the first and only record to come solely from (you guessed it) Buckingham and Nicks, as they both joined Fleetwood Mac in the following year. Today, the album still has yet to hit most streaming services and remains out of print physically, which Bird and Cunningham cite as one of the reasons they became interested in it.

Bloodthirst is from the folks at Mahal Empire, last year they gave us their version of the zombie apocalypse, Bridge of the Doomed. This year they’re revisiting the apocalypse, only in Bloodthirst the threat comes from a different strain of the undead, vampires. In the world of Bloodthirst two factions of vampires fight for control of what’s left of the planet. What’s left of humanity is caught in the middle and rapidly heading for extinction, something that would doom the vampires as well. Folk singer-songwriter Madison Cunningham has shared her new single, “Subtitles.” The song marks a change in direction for the artist, and follows the release of a deluxe edition of her Grammy-winning album Revealer.

Featuring a driving guitar and a staccato bassline propelling the song forward, the song was given the title of “dino-rock” by the singer herself. Drawing inspiration from ’80s new wave, Cunningham directly referred to Xtc as a major inspiration for the song’s melody, inspiring her to sweeten up the track and “pack this song with candy.”

Drawing together feelings and thoughts of dystopia and cluelessness, Cunningham conjures all of this together and more for this undeniable new track.
