In the cut scene in space you see the missile detonate over Washington DC. There are no clouds at all anywhere near the East coast, then later, from the ground you can see clouds in the sky as the sun is setting. later it begins raining and by the middle part of the mission it is raining quite hard. A storm of this magnitude would have been very easy to see from space.

In the mission "Second Sun", a massive EMP destroys all electronics in the East Coast of the United States. Yet several cars, traffic lights, and computers can still be seen working throughout the level.

When the building collapses at the beginning of 'Team Player', you can clearly see a solid chain link fence pass through a solid light post as the shock wave passes by the convoy.

At the end of the level "Wolverines". If you can protect the Turret gun from the roof of Nate's restaurant from getting destroyed and carry it to the convoy when they arrive to pick you up, you can get into the vehicle with the turret and it will pass thru solid steel. If you turn forward you can even make it float through the passenger in the front seat.

In the mission "Second Sun" when the player briefly plays as Sat1, it's shown to be nighttime across the East Coast of the U.S.. However, after Ramirez, Foley, and co. retake the White House and wave off a friendly airstrike in "Whiskey Hotel," the sun can be seen setting behind the Washington Monument.

The atmospheric nuclear detonation that destroys the ISS would, in fact, not do so. The lack of atmosphere would almost totally nullify the usual heat and blast wave effects associated with a nuclear explosion.

Task Force 141 members have their nationality patches on their shoulders or webbing, whereas in real life no identification would be shown as part of SOPs. Likewise, Soap McTavish wouldn't have a mohawk haircut, as it is a strong visual indicator, and would make any urban covert scenarios almost impossible for him to be anonymous.

In the battle for Washington DC, troops are shown maneuvering closely with M1A2 Abrams tanks. If the player is next to or in front of one when it fires, their ears are left ringing. In reality, there is a zone extending 45 degrees to the right and left of the main gun's muzzle out to 200 yards where the overpressure from firing is lethal to unprotected infantry.

Captain Price goes aboard the Russian sub to launch a missile in the hope that an EMP would end the war. But a launch of this sort requires both the ships captain and first officer to enter classified codes and use both keys. No one person can launch a missile.

The Russian Federation Army is still using 1960ish military equipment, should they go to war, they would use their modern tech. such as the MiG-35, AK-103, and RPG-29 among several things.

Whilst Soap is lying on the floor wounded, watching Shepherd and Price fight, you can see that the magazines in his pouches are clearly modeled on Airsoft magazines, rather than actual 5.56 ones.

The patch on the policemen's uniform at the airport is reversed.

Even after using up all the ammunition in a machine gun, there are still rounds visible on the belt.

(Remastered version only) When the EMP blast hits Washington D.C. in the mission "Second Sun," all lights are seen being blacked out. However, in front of the helicopter crash site, there are blinking red traffic lights that continue blinking, even after the lights go out. They don't stop blinking until a helicopter crashes nearby when they should have gone out immediately.

Cars can kill the Player and NPCs if they explode. However, gasoline is not explosive, so cars shouldn't explode.

In the fight with the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man, Ray states that there are chunks of the building missing before he even sees the chunks missing.

Even though the game takes place in 2016, the International Space Station looks like how it did in 2002-2005, not using its current design.

During the cut scenes that shows the United States Northern-East Coast, look closely at Southern Ontario, Canada. The tip that makes up Point Pelee seems to be missing.

After the Rangers retake the White House and wave off an airstrike at the end of "Whiskey Hotel," the Washington Monument is shown to be directly south of the White House. In real life, the Monument is more to the southeast of the White House.

Satellite views of Washington, D.C. show smoke plumes blowing to the west; wind in that area typically blows from west to east.

Captain Price launches an ICBM towards the East Coast of the United States in hopes of ending the Russian invasion of the U.S. It seems very strange how the United States didn't interpret this as Russia potentially launching a nuclear attack against them as part of the war between the two. Nobody (not even the Task Force 141) seemed to know what Price's plans were so there was no way to know for sure it was him who launched it.

Price likely would have needed launch codes in order to successfully launch the missile from the submarine.

Soap MacTavish claims that proof of Makarov's involvement in the airport massacre "died with Allen." But the security cameras in the airport clearly would have caught the entire attack on tape and people would be able to identify Makarov from reviewing the footage.

Makarov wants Russia convinced that the airport attack was acted purely by American terrorists, hence his men speaking only English and using US NATO weapons. Makarov is a well known terrorist, yet he does not wear a mask, nor do his men. The security cameras, and even potential survivors could have recognized him. Furthermore, Makarov did lose one of his men in the attack, who could have been identified as a Russian.

Furthermore, it's discovered in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (2011) that Yuri, a new ally of the Task Force 141, knew about the plans of the attack and attempted to stop it but was shot and left for dead by Makarov. Yuri could have also told Russian authorities about Makarov's involvement.

At the end of "Of Their Own Accord"/beginning of "Second Sun," Corporal Dunn is shot and wounded. Yet for the rest of the latter mission and "Whiskey Hotel," he seems perfectly fine.

During the mission "Second Sun" a runner named Vaughn emerges from a building and gives your team instructions to get to Whiskey Hotel. Your team then enters the same building that Pvt. Vaughn just exited, finding it occupied by an entrenched Russian patrol. Either Vaughn somehow didn't encounter the Russians, or he just forgot to mention them.

Shepherd is wearing a beret with his ACU in the field, when it is only worn in garrison.

It's unclear why Price launched the missile westward from Petropavlovsk toward Washington D.C. A shorter and quicker path would have been to just launch it eastward.

In "Loose Ends," Price tells Ghost via comlink "good luck in Russia." The mission takes place on the border of Georgia and Russia, not in Russia specifically.

In the mission "Second Sun," Corporal Dunn yells "EMP!" when Ramirez and co. are evading falling helicopters. A short while later, he asks if anyone else's red dot sight is working on their weapons. If he knows there was an EMP, he should know that their sights are also not working if his aren't.
