Gossip Girls Cast and Where Are They Now 13 Years After the Show Ended
Image
It’s been over a decade since Gossip Girl aired its final scandalous text, but the original cast has been anything but idle. From A-list marriages and chart-topping careers to heartbreaking losses and long-awaited comebacks, the stars of the iconic CW teen drama have rewritten their own scripts far beyond Manhattan’s Upper East Side.

While the 2021 Gossip Girl reboot gave a nostalgic nod to the OGs (with Michelle Trachtenberg reprising her role as Georgina Sparks), it was axed in 2023. Trachtenberg tragically passed away in February 2025 at just 39, following a liver transplant.

Showrunner Josh Schwartz once said (per TV Line):

We’ve reached out to all of them to let them know it was happening, and we would love for them to be involved if they want to be involved….They played those characters for six years, and if they felt like they were good with that, we wanted to respect that.

Lizzie McGuire star generously blames scrapped Disney+ revival on 'bad timing'
Image
It's been almost five years since Disney+ ruined the dreams of every millennial and canceled the in-progress Lizzie McGuire revival series. Disney+ had used the revival as an early promise and draw alongside the launch of the streaming service in 2019. Production on the revival began in October 2019, but by January 2020, the series had already run into turmoil that would be its downfall.

Lizzie McGuire star Jake Thomas recently caught up with E! News and was asked about the revival series that never was. Seeing as Hilary Duff has rarely spoken about the revival since its dissolution, Thomas' comments are welcome insight into what went wrong. The actor chalks up the show's unfortunate cancellation to something that "just happens" and "bad timing" with Covid:

"We actually filmed two episodes of the reboot that unfortunately, it fell apart. Sometimes that just happens. It was bad timing with everything. It was right at the beginning of Covid,...

How I Met Your Mother Star Recalls Getting Killed Off in Controversial Finale: 'I Understand Why People Were Upset'
Image
The Penguin star Cristin Milioti got a big break with her career when she landed a key role in the hit sitcom How I Met Your Mother. Eleven years after the show's final episode, she's now looking back on the backlash that people had over the fate of her character in the final episode.

In How I Met Your Mother's eighth and ninth seasons, Milioti played Tracy McConnell. She is revealed to be the titular "Mother" of Ted Mosby's (Josh Radnor) children, with the whole point of the series focused on how she came into the picture. Controversially, the series finale reveals that the character had died from an unnamed illness six years before Future Ted (Bob Saget) began telling his children the story. Per Variety, Milioti recently reflected on how that revelation didn't go over very well with fans.

"Yeah, they didn’t like that," she said. "I...

Better Call Harvey: ‘Suits LA’ Is Canceled but That Paved the Path for Gabriel Macht’s Return in a True Spinoff
Image
The much-hyped spinoff of Gabriel Macht’s Suits isn’t going to last more than a season. The verdict is out on Suits LA, which has been cancelled after its single season. Honestly, the show failed to take advantage of the popularity of its prequel show. While fans expected something similar in tone to Suits, the LA version failed to make a case for itself.

With the cancellation of this spinoff that brought back Harvey Specter in a recurring guest role, Aaron Korsh should put his focus on another project that fans have been asking for. We would like to see a Harvey-centered spinoff, be it a prequel or sequel, that is in the vein of Bob Odenkirk’s Better Call Saul.

The Last Of Us Season 2 Episode 4's Opening Features An Unexpected Cameo
Image
Spoilers follow.

"The Last of Us" has leaned heavy on big-name cameos and guest roles since the start of season 1. Nick Offerman won an Emmy for his single-episode turn in the critically acclaimed "Long, Long Time," and the rest of the season was full of stellar short-term performances from the likes of Nico Parker, Ashley Johnson, Troy Baker, and Melanie Lynskey. All of those turned out to be meaty roles, but season 2 delivers a more traditional cameo in episode 4.

The episode opens on a flashback to 2018, 10 years prior to the main events of "The Last of Us" season 2. We see an armored vehicle carrying Fedra soldiers through the Seattle quarantine zone. As the squad bumps through the city, one among them -- the obligatory jokester of the group -- tells a "funny" story about one of their superior officers brutalizing civilians. While the actor playing this part is somewhat obscured by his massive helmet,...

Why Hulu Canceled How I Met Your Father
Image
No matter how you may feel about the ending of "How I Met Your Mother," there's no questioning the show had a successful nine-season run, and that most of it is infinitely rewatchable even more than a decade after it aired its final episode. The same, however, cannot be said about "How I Met Your Father," the sequel series that abruptly ended after just two seasons and 30 episodes on Hulu. Despite sharing a lot of similarities with the original series, it just didn't connect with audiences in the same way. But when it came to the official reason why "How I Met Your Father" was canceled, it all came down to the usual corporate jargon from streaming companies.

A report from Deadline confirmed in September 2023 that "How I Met Your Father" got the axe on account of "companywide streaming content cuts" at Hulu's parent company, Disney. The story didn't delve further into the specifics,...

This New Sitcom Will Set the Record for the Most Time Between An Original Series Ending and Its Spin-Off Debuting
Image
The remarkable thing about Varnell Hill, the just-announced sitcom starring Tommy Davidson, isn’t that it’s a spin-off of Martin Lawrence’s hit comedy Martin. The crazy part is that it took nearly 30 years to bring Davidson’s character back, almost assuredly setting a record for the most time passed between an original sitcom and its spin-off. That’s not how it usually works — networks strike while the iron is hot, using the popularity of Happy Days to launch Laverne & Shirley, for example. That makes Varnell Hill a rare phenomenon, although a few other comedy spin-offs come close…

1 The Conners

Okay, this one shouldn’t really count. The Conners is actually a rebranding of a Roseanne-free Roseanne, which was a reboot, not a spin-off, of the original. It’s like saying Fuller House is a spin-off because it focuses on the Tanner kids, even though any reasonable viewer would call it a continuation.

What Happened To The Cast Of The George Lopez Show?
Image
Back in the 20th century, it was very common to see a stand-up comic enter the Hollywood pipeline by starring in their own sitcom based on their acts. Comedians like Bob Newhart, Martin Lawrence, and Roseanne Barr went from performing on small stages around the country to appearing in basically every living room in America thanks to the miracle of television. But when it came to the Latino community, there was a clear lack of representation. That is, until George Lopez arrived on the scene in 2002 with "The George Lopez Show."

Created by Lopez, "The Drew Carey Show" creator Bruce Helford, and "Roseanne" writer Robert Borden,"George Lopez" premiered on March 27, 2002, after the Los Angeles native had tried to make a TV show happen since the early 1990s. He finally achieved his goal when he met Sandra Bullock backstage after a performance at the Brea Improv Comedy Club in 2000. With the award-winning actress' help,...

How Much Would Ted Mosby's Apartment In How I Met Your Mother Cost To Rent?
Image
When it comes to sitcoms set in New York City, more often than not, the major location where characters have most of their interactions is in an apartment building. Sometimes, in the case of "Friends," the apartment is such a signature location that Lego sets have been produced recreating it. A year after "Friends" ended, a sitcom featuring a new group of friends in New York City aired on CBS, "How I Met Your Mother."

Ted Mosby (Josh Radnor), the protagonist of "How I Met Your Mother," lives alone in his Manhattan apartment for much of the series. Although the tenants would change throughout its entire nine-season run (which /Film has ranked from best to worst), the apartment was often the hub in which Ted and his friends would share some of their most memorable moments.

Ted is an architect and becomes a Professor of Architecture in season 5. Architecture is...

Ace Eddie Awards: ‘Wicked’, ‘Emilia Pérez’ & ‘The Wild Robot’ Take Top Film Prizes – Winners List
Image
Wicked, Emilia Pérez, The Wild Robot, Will & Harper and Road House took the film prizes at the delayed 2025 Ace Eddie Awards, which were handed out Friday night at UCLA’s Royce Hall. Shōgun, Baby Reindeer, What We Do in the Shadows and Frasier were among the TV winners at American Cinema Editors’ 75th anniversary ceremony. See the full list below.

The Eddies were postponed from the original January 18 date as Los Angeles suffered through the wildfires that devastated much of the region. Hulu's highly anticipated Matt Bomer sitcom is coming sooner than we thought
Image
Have you been missing Matt Bomer on your screen? Well, we're about to get a whole lot more of him when his highly anticipated Hulu sitcom Mid-Century Modern makes its premiere in March 2025. Even though the actor has been known for his drama work, most recently earning an Emmy Award nomination for his work in Showtime's limited series Fellow Travelers, he's prepared to bring the laughs as the lead of a multi-cam sitcom for the first time.

Mid-Century Modern premieres on Friday, March 28 on Hulu. That's much sooner than I imagined Hulu would drop the show! While the premiere's coming up very soon, the release date news gets even better. Hulu isn't releasing the 10-episode season weekly, instead opting for a binge drop. It's great to hear that Hulu learned from its mistake of weekly drops of sitcoms, which killed the momentum of How I Met Your Father, and will...

Where Is the Cast of 'Gossip Girl' in 2024?
Image
Years before social media had this much power over society, Gossip Girl had already warned us about the dangers of it, even though the characters in the series were not really paying attention. This teen drama show based on the novels by Cecily von Ziegesar, adapted by Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, aired from 2007 to 2012 on The CW network. It follows the exclusive and drama-filled lives of the Upper East Side's high-class teens, who happen to be closely scrutinized by Gossip Girl, an anonymous blogger that thrives on chit-chat and seems to know everything.

The show is a clear demonstration of the influence that social media has if it is not properly managed, going so far as to run people's lives. Even though Manhattan teenagers knew how unhealthy this blog was and all the effects it had on people and relationships, they kept on reading it, effectively expanding its audience day by day.

Mid-Century Modern Signals a Return to Multi-Camera Comedy for Hulu — When Does it Premiere?
Image
Many exciting shows are coming to Hulu over the next couple of months.

The streaming service confirmed on Monday that Mid-Century Modern, its highly-anticipated multi-camera comedy, is one of those and will receive its debut on March 28.

The series will stray from the typical weekly rollout, with the streaming platform dropping all 10 episodes on the premiere date.

(Disney/Chris Haston)

Some shows benefit from the weekly release strategy to keep the conversation flowing, but we’ll reserve judgment on whether a binge release will benefit this series.

“Three Best Friends – gay gentlemen of a certain age – who, after an unexpected death, decide to spend their golden years living together in Palm Springs where the wealthiest one lives with his mother,” reads the logline.

“As a chosen family, they prove that no matter how hard things get, there’s always someone around to remind you it would be better if you got your neck done,...

Stephen Amell's Suits LA Debuts With Unfortunate Rotten Tomatoes Score
Image
Suits LA makes its premiere on NBC on Sunday, Feb. 23. Ahead of the episode's airing, the show was given its debut score on Rotten Tomatoes with its early reviews from critics, but the result was not exactly great.

Currently, Suits LA has an approval rating of 36% on Rotten Tomatoes. An audience score will not be known until after the premiere airs, so it remains to be seen if viewers will feel the same. As it stands, the Suits spinoff will have a lot of catching up to do to reach the heights of its parent series, which has an average score of 91% with an 87% audience score. The first season of Suits has a 78% rating, while Pearson, the prevous spinoff, has a 72% rating.

Hilary Duff Starred In One Of Metacritic's Lowest-Rated Horror Movies
Image
Movies and TV shows about true crime can be hit or miss, to say the least; sometimes, the families of real killers accuse the project of exploitation, and other times, it's just insensitive. That's what makes former Disney teen idol Hilary Duff's 2019 film "The Haunting of Sharon Tate" so baffling. Not only is it based on the very real murder of Sharon Tate at the hands of Charles Manson and his followers in her Hollywood home in 1969, but it has Duff, as Tate, playing the murdered woman's ghost as she relives the events of the horrific Manson killings.

"The Haunting of Sharon Tate" is, to put it lightly, a bizarre movie, and though it's not Duff's fault that this misguided project is pretty bad, the evidence of its numerous failures as a movie (and retelling of Tate's death) is evident in its Metacritic score. The movie only earned a...

“I wish Ted had chosen Victoria”: Himym Star’s Take on Josh Radnor’s Controversial Ted Mosby Ending Is Infuriatingly Logical
Image
It’s not uncommon for sitcoms to botch their ending, as over the years, only a handful of shows have managed to conclude things on a high note, and unfortunately, Josh Radnor’s How I Met Your Mother wasn’t one of them. But amidst all the issues that plagued the final season, which includes its odd pacing, it’s the infamous finale that caused most of the commotion.

Not only did the decision to reunite Ted with Robin ruin the build-up of the entire season, in hindsight, it was also an insult to one of Ted’s best girlfriends, Victoria.

Before the writers went through with the controversial ending, according to Ashley Williams, Victoria was initially conceived as the mother by the showrunners in case of any potential cancellation.
