Some slow spots but OK overall

This movie is another of the too many stories about the unrequited love of the male best friend, Cooper, while the girl, Maddie, pines for someone else

There is a slightly funny sequence where Cooper tries to set up his chance to tell Maddie about his love and it backfires in an interesting way.

I struggled to have any respect for Maddie for two reasons. First, she's an idiot not to realize Cooper's feelings. Second, how can she stand Luke? He made me sick with his lack of sincerity.

Maddie loves to sing and we get to hear Alys Crocker sing both typical carols and original songs. Some are with David Pinard.

The acting is fair. Likewise the dialogue. It does have a few decent moments. As for sets, there are far too many Christmas decorations. There are some efforts at comedy through silliness primarily by characters Jackie and Brett.

The pace lags at times. There are no great highs or lows or surprises, but it also isn't that bad. It's family friendly and has some good moments.

A Plot Device Isn't a Plot

What a piece of dreck!

There isn't a plot here, there aren't even any real characters here. Guy likes girl since they were childhood friends and she doesn't see it. That's the entire movie. There's nothing, nothing at all more to it.

There's no Christmas to it besides that it takes place at Christmas and "Santa" tries to open the woman's eyes to his affections.

It's like if someone who writes morality plays tried to write the standard Hallmark Christmas Romance movie but didn't understand what makes them work. The characters are entirely lifeless and there's nothing more to any character other than try to help the boy get the girl. There's no hook, there's no tension, there's no Christmas Activities, there's nothing to keep anyone engaged.

Lighthearted and Goofy

This movie has got a sweet, carefree, and playful mood to it which is sometimes interrupted by some pretty awkward moments (which were deliberately put in by the writers).

For those who can relate to what it feels like to start off as friends and discover you have sentiments that are a whole lot bigger than the camaraderie that you share, then you'll feel some of the frustrations and delights this movie has to offer.

For what it's worth and what this movie is trying to achieve, all the actors performed their rolls with just that right amount of cuteness and pleasantries.

Overall, quite a nice way to spend a happy go lucky time that you know how it's going to end.

Soooo Canadian

This might be the most Canadian Movie I've ever seen. The sets all look "sound stage" fake. Story has that typical bad guy, good guy storyline. The secondary actors & actresses, especially Jackie (Bukola Ayoka) could use some acting lessons. The story just drags along. There is no connection between any of the characters. You'll notice actress Valerie Boyle who is in every other Hallmark/Lifetime movie.

I gave a few stars cause the lead actress (Alys Crocker) is stunningly Canadian beautiful. Check it out if your bored on a Friday night like me and u want a good laugh or to see a stunningly beautiful Canadian actress (Crocker).
