Reid Scott is set for a series regular role in Season 23 of “Law & Order,” Variety has learned.
Exact details on the character Scott will be playing are being kept under wraps, aside from the fact he will be portraying an NYPD detective.
The news comes a week after it was announced that Jeffrey Donovan would not be back for the new season of the long-running (and recently revived) procedural. Donovan began portraying Det. Frank Cosgrove on the show when it returned for Season 21 in 2022.
Scott is best known for playing Dan Egan in the hit HBO political comedy series “Veep,” on which he starred throughout the show’s seven season run at the premium cabler. His other recent TV credits include “American Horror Stories,” “The Afterparty,” “Curb Your Enthusiasm, and two seasons on “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.” On the film side, he starred in and executive produced the pandemic comedy “Who Invited Charlie,...

Fun fact: “Emily in Paris,” which films all across the city of Paris and throughout France, was originally slated to film in New York. The idea was to shoot the majority of the Netflix series in the U.S. and head to France for a few weeks to film exteriors of iconic locations. Upon discovering showrunner Darren Starr’s plans, director and executive producer Andy Fleming exclaimed, “This is crazy, you have to shoot [in Paris].”
Referencing the charmingly worn doors in Parisian apartments that would be difficult to recreate in the States, Fleming talked about how he pushed for production to cross the ocean. “I thought, if the writers go over there, they will get in a taxicab going the wrong way around the Louvre, and they will be embarrassed in a restaurant and they will do all of the things that Emily would do, and [that] will inform the writing,” said Fleming.

Here is a wrap-up of all the news you need to know from Tuesday, August 2, 2022.
FX's turn at the Television Critics Association paved the way for some announcements about new and returning series.
We already reported on the casting of Elisabeth Moss on The Veil.
We also learned that American Horror Story Season 11 will receive its premiere in fall 2022.
There had been some questions about whether the series would return this year, given the lack of updates.
However, we should expect more concrete details about the big season in the coming weeks, including casting details and a confirmed premiere date.
The last season featured two stories -- Red Tide and Death Valley.
The former won praise from longtime fans, but the latter struggled to find its footing.
Spinoff American Horror Stories currently airs Thursdays on FX on Hulu.
As someone critical of the first season, the second is a breath of fresh air.

“The Patient” co-creators, showrunners and executive producers Joel Fields and Joe Weisberg (“The Americans”) explained why they cast Steve Carell, who is not Jewish, as a Jewish character in a story rich with themes surrounding Orthodox Judaism and temple culture.
“When we came up with the original idea, the character wasn’t originally Jewish and we started, as you always do, looking for ways to add specificity and depth,” Weisberg said when asked about the decision during FX’s virtual panel at the Television Critics Association summer press tour. “And we came up with that idea and pretty quickly realized that it allowed us to tap into things from our own lives and our own past that added just certain dimensions and it became really a lot more fun to write in a certain way after that.”

It would be fair conclusion to say that 2021 was a successful year for K-Dramas. The year, through many cable and national broadcasting networks, the country’s tv industry released many successful series. Streaming giant Netflix too came in strong, buying world-wide distribution rights to many popular titles, while also doubling down on their own original productions, investing heavily into content from the country and increasing output too, to the point of releasing a new K-Drama almost every month in the second half of last year. Of course, the success of a number of these shows is now well-known, but other streaming services like iQiyi, Viki etc. also played an important part in getting several Korean series out to the wider worldwide audience, resulting in a strong year for shows of various genres.
Without further ado, here is the list of the 20 best K-Dramas of 2021, in descending order.

The script for Blood Born wants to tap into some of the deepest and most primal of human fears and instincts. The desire to have children and the fears of the complications that come with pregnancy. To say nothing of the changes it will bring to one’s life. Anyone who has been through it knows just how scary it can be. Especially if you’ve been through it before and it ended badly.
From The Bad Seed and Rosemary’s Baby to The Omen and It’s Alive, films have played on the desire to have children. Even the plot of the dinosaur film Hatched has its roots in the quest for parenthood at any cost. Can Blood Born capture those fears and give them a supernatural twist? Or will the film’s scares be stillborn?...
