Hell of an episode as far as first episode goes

I liked how the show started and wasting no time and opening exactly on point i was kind of getting Silent Hill's like creepy vibe. But what i really liked about this one is that this show wasn't just to scare you away as most of them does these days, but rather shows you what it's really like to live in a town surrounded by mysterious creatures.

Perfect beginning

If the series continues like this excellent beginning we will Lost but with monster and I hope it continues with this horrifying atmosphere and this frightening story.

Wayward Pines

It's Just Like The Same Plot As Wayward Pines!

Looks Like Someone Watched It And Partly Based The Show On It! It's Still Really Good. I Really Like Harold Perrineau.

What is going on?

Had me gripped throughout this season. I,m constantly wondering what's going on and how has Victor lasted the longest I can't wait for season 2. I know this program is nuts cos Jack Bender is involved. Cant wait for season 2.

Great beginning to hopefully a great show

I already know this serie for 2 years and I finally took the time to watch it.

After seeing several mixed ratings i started sceptical in the beginning. But that wasn't for long, it grabbed me and i was stuck at my seat.

This premiere really took me back in time when i watched "Lost" it gave me like the same feeling that i had when i watched the pilot of lost.

Harold perrineau was a character in lost that i didn't like and now i loved him in this first episode. He is a great actor who can play every role.

This serie has got everything you like if you loved lost.

Its exciting, the cinematography is beautiful, i love the darkness and the scary parts.

Im curious about how the story will unfold, lets hope for the best!

Great pilot! 10/10.

Great beginning to this fairly new horror show.

(Shortened summary in the bottom of the review)

See this is how you start off a horror show, something in the beginning not so scary, but the longer you get into the episode, the more intense and scary it becomes, building this dark and gritty atmosphere that i really really enjoyed.

This show also reminds me a good amount of the classic tv show "Lost" or something out of Stephen King book, which is actually a surprisingly brilliant combination that gives you this great, creepy and horrifying show at times that you just cant get enough of, if you are a horror geek like me.

(9/10)

Shortened summary: The tv show (From) starts out by already creating this great momentum at the beginning of the episode, which it rides along with all the way through, keeping this greet horrifying intensity that makes this Lost/Stephen King inspired tv show awesome already from the start.

Promising start

The series premiere has me feeling optimistic. Despite the obvious parallels to "Lost" and "Under the Dome"-particularly given that some of the same people are involved in the production-"From" clearly has a unique feel to it.

One of the standout elements of the premiere was the unforgiving gore; it's not something regularly seen on television. The premise seems good, but, as with most premieres, it's difficult not to entice the viewer early on.

It is a little early to pass judgement, but the dialogue and acting certainly leave something to be desired. While it does spend a significant amount of time on exposition, laying out the various plot threads and introducing the characters, it doesn't drag enough to detract from the experience. The downside is that it leaves little room for the viewer to simply come along for the ride and discover things as they unfold. Hopefully, future episodes will strike a better balance.

The season premiere, "Long Day's Journey Into Night," is quite promising. It has all the ingredients for a good show, and I'm curious to see where it goes from here.

Rating: 7.2/10 (Good)

Long Day's Journey Into Night

Something happens at night in a small American town.

It starts off effectively enough. A little girl is visited by her grandmother and she lets her in.

The next morning the police are examining child's ripped corpse.

While the sheriff is overseeing the funeral. The Matthews family come by.

They are lost and they find out that they cannot leave the town. After an accident it is up to the sheriff to rescue the family before it gets dark.

The first episode does a lot of world building with a large set of characters.

The initial premise is intriguing in a Lost kind of way.

Nice start, but annoying plot hole

It was a great start to a show but why do people think that in an emergency when car tyres are flat you can't drive at all!? YOU CAN!! Car still moves FFS! In the real world that whole last scene of first episode and start of the second could have been avoided if they just kept driving after tyres were spiked.

I'll say a decent beginning

In the past we were used to slow burn shows, it was the norm, remember first episode of LOST? But we got spoiled I feel. Remember first episode of GOT?

-First episode I will call medium speed in term of events. It's a horror show I came with some expectations. To be freaked out or grossed out; I'm not that picky.

-The acting isn't that great. But better than some. I'm hoping it will improve as we go.

-I need more background story, on the town and townies.

-What about food and such? Groceries, electricity, medicine, etc.

Well I will be patient and wait it out for 4 episodes then I'm moving on.

OK!?

About 60 to 70 % of the dialogue spoken in this episode is the word OK. I paused around 41st minute, annoyed with how much everyone is telling each other that it's and they're and you're gonna be ... OK!? While no one, actually, is ... OK. OK? And all right. Dialogue s***s big time. The situation is not OK. The people involved are not OK. No need pointing it out how bad the situation is, but it, most definitely, is not OK. It, kind of, insults the intelligence of the viewer. NO ONE in real life, or fiction, talks like that. Unless the scriptwriter is dumbing it down. And that's SO NOT OK! People have emotional responses to certain things happening around them. They act rational or irational when they're having those responses. And that's OK. Not running around, while everything is falling apart, convincing yourself and everyone involved that it's (gonna be) OK.

Back to enduring last 10 minutes of 1st episode. Really trying to like this.
