Former “Days of our Lives” actor Mark Valley is starring in the new film from director Luca Elmi called “Hostage,” which wrapped principal photography this week in Kentucky, Deadline reported.
Written by Drew Ingram and produced by his Stagmoor Studios, the film also stars William Moseley (“The Chronicles of Narnia” franchise) and follows a charismatic politician’s road to the governor’s office as it takes an unexpected twist when he becomes embroiled in a high-stakes hostage situation that forces him to confront his past and threatens to derail his path to power.
Valley will play Jon Lewis, the ruthless campaign manager working for Logan Marshall (Moseley), who is described as a rising political star and the Independent candidate in the upcoming Kentucky gubernatorial election. The kind of politician every voter wants to believe in, a proud Kentuckian, handsome, young, charismatic, and commanding, with a supportive wife and daughter by his side.

The Walking Dead was a unique show that balances the drama with the survival thriller setting of a zombie apocalypse. While still at the height of the zombie-obsession in Hollywood, the show offered a more poignant exploration of how humans function in a fallen society and how they seek to rebuild a sense of meaning through various ways.
A post-apocalyptic setting would have a lot of artifacts that were remnants of the past, and music composer Bear McCreary reportedly hoped to invoke the same emptiness and a foreboding sense of doom with the theme song. His creative direction was also guided by his previous work on the series Human Target.

While AMC’s The Walking Dead is set during a zombie apocalypse, the episodes are not always action-based and have long scenes of talking and drama.

Last summer, it was revealed that Hasbro's Power Rangers "cinematic universe," which was expected to include both an original television show alongside a slate of movies, had been scrapped by Netflix despite being in development for over two years.
Jonathan Entwistle (The End of the F***ing World) was originally set to oversee the franchise with Jenny Klein (Jessica Jones) serving as showrunner. Reboot plans subsequently stalled and it sounded like Hasbro was going back to the drawing board to figure out how best to monetize the iconic TV series the '90s kids among you will so fondly remember.
Today, The Wrap (via SFFGazette.com) has revealed that Percy Jackson and the Olympians showrunners Jonathan E. Steinberg and Dan Shotz are in talks to write, produce, and serve as showrunners for a new live-action TV series.
Developed by 20th Century TV, the reboot will stream on Disney+.

For many, Janet Montgomery is best known for her work in television. She played the character Ames in 11 episodes of Human Target, Jennie in 10 episodes of Entourage, Mary Sibley in 36 episodes of Salem, and Dr. Lauren Bloom in 89 episodes of New Amsterdam – but I’m most familiar with her work in two horror films that were released in 2009, The Hills Run Red and Wrong Turn 3: Left for Dead. So it’s cool to hear that she’s returning to the world of horror features with her latest project, a body horror film called Symbiosis.
Set to go into production April, Symbiosis will be directed by Mark Heller (The Passage) from a screenplay written by Stephen James Thompson. Set in a remote research station in Scotland, the story centers on a husband-and-wife team working over Christmas as the only two people who can save humanity from an alien parasite — tiny...

Writer Tom King has huge faith in the upcoming Green Lantern show and is setting the bar high for the anticipated adaptation. King has left his mark on the comics world with dozens of critically-lauded stories. Now he's helping usher in a new Green Lantern series that he thinks could be something really special.
Tom King spoke with Comic Book Movie to discuss his new miniseries Black Canary: Best of the Best. However, he also provided some information about the upcoming HBO series Lanterns, which King co-created and serves as an executive producer of. King spoke highly of what he's seen so far, praising Kyle Chandler and Aaron Pierre's chemistry as Hal Jordan and John Stewart.
When you look at Kyle, you see someone who used to fly jetplanes and embodies Hal. When you look at Aaron, his heart, his soul, and his strength are so John Stewart. He’s so perfect.

Before the formation of DC Studios, Warner Bros. brought many of its characters to television. Some like The Flash and Superman were well known to fans; others - the Doom Patrol and Human Target, for example - were not.
The plan moving forward is for the vast majority of live-action projects to take place in the Dcu, meaning we're likely to see fewer comic book heroes and villains on-screen.
In a recent interview with The Direct, Dean Lorey, the creator of animated TV shows Harley Quinn and Kite Man: Hell Yeah!, revealed that he briefly worked on a Hitman TV series for Syfy based on the little-known but still popular character.
Kite Man: Hell Yeah! has featured appearances from several characters tied to Hitman's world, something which now makes a lot more sense.
"Because we established the bar Noonan's, that sort of naturally led to some Hitman characters," he told the site.

With James Gunn calling the shots at DC Studios, we're expecting a far greater number of obscure characters from the comics to get their chance to shine in the new Dcu.
That's exciting for fans and if a new rumour shared by FilmFront is anything to go by, a Human Target TV series is also in development.
Comic book writer Tom King (who is working on Lanterns and inspired Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow with his series of the same name) has reportedly been working on the projects since the start of 2024. He'll be Human Target's main writer and the search for a showrunner - and lead star - is said to be underway.
As you might expect, Gunn and Peter Safran will executive produce.

In the sixth-season episode of "Bones" called "The Finder," which aired in April of 2012, Brennan and Booth (Emily Deschanel and David Boreanaz) travel to the Florida Everglades to investigate the death of a maritime museum worker whose remains in the woods lead to the discovery of a fragment of a 17th-century map. The map may lead to sunken treasure (!) and our heroes know that if they find the rest of the map, they'll likely uncover a murderer.
To help with their investigation, the two agents hire an eccentric local named Walter Sherman (Geoff Stults), an old friend of Booth's. Walter is a kooky former soldier and head injury sufferer who possesses a bizarre, obsessive talent for locating lost objects. It's implied that Walter may even have semi-clairvoyant powers.

Two Justice League International mainstays, Fire and Ice, are finally getting the spotlight they deserve - by being completely exiled from the hero community. DC Comics' newly announced miniseries, Fire & Ice: Welcome to Smallville, will see this dynamic duo make a new home for themselves in Superman's hometown - and invite a huge supervillain brawl to its streets.
The latest Dawn of DC series, Fire & Ice: Welcome to Smallville by Joanne Starer, Natacha Bustos, Tamra Bonvillain, and Ariana Maher, launches its first issue on September 5. Fire and Ice's new era begins in a prologue story by the same team in Power Girl Special #1, which sees the two tangle with Guy Gardner at a natural disaster in Baltimore. Guy, of course, "causes some major drama," and Superman decides to involve himself - ultimately leading him to practically exile Fire and Ice to his beloved hometown of Smallville. They may be a collection of modern gods, but the Justice League is missing something special from making them truly effective. Human Target #3 reveals how all the super speed and Power Rings can't make up for the one element the League is sorely lacking.
There's little doubt that from the very beginning, the Justice League has been a net good for the DC Universe. Whether repelling Starro the Conqueror or Darkseid, seven heroes came together to protect the world from evils that could easily destroy civilization. And while fans may have an image of what the Justice League's roster in mind, the truth is that the team is almost always updating its roster. Members come and go, and thanks to several changes of continuity, even the League's founding members aren't always the same. While the team might have a general presence in the Dcu, it's not the most stable organization.

One of the steamiest hookups in the Justice League is spotlighting what a weakness may actually mean for a hero. Martian Manhunter's dalliance with a teammate shows how the hero's vulnerabilities might actually be something quite appealing for him.
Superheroes wouldn't be who they are if they didn't have a weakness in some form or fashion. Superman has the radioactive slivers of his home planet in the form of Kryptonite. The Flash is rendered helpless by the total stoppage of movement caused by absolute zero. Even the mighty Green Lantern has shown a vulnerability to the color yellow in the past. Weaknesses make characters more well-rounded and increase the stakes in their adventures. If a villain knows just how to exploit a hero's Achilles' heel, they're in the best position possible to exterminate them. Some heroes might have more obvious disadvantages than others, but nearly superhero has something that can harm them.

It's an argument that's raged on between Green Lantern fans for some time: who is the better Lantern between Hal Jordan and Guy Gardner? Human Target #3 finally provides fans with an answer that reveals one hero's hidden weakness.
For eons, the Green Lantern Corps has sought out officers capable of tremendous willpower all across the universe. But it wasn't until Abin Sur crashed his spaceship on Earth that the Corps would gain some of its most powerful Lanterns. While dying, Sur sought out the closest, most suitable candidate to replace him, which made Hal Jordan the first human member of the Green Lantern Corps. However, Guy Gardner was another candidate Sur's ring chose, and while Gardner eventually joined the Corps, he's always held the belief that he would have been a better first pick. Jordan and Gardner eventually established a peace, but it didn't exactly put an end to Guy's arrogance.

After what seems like an eternity of talk of a third Fletch movie, it has finally arrived. Not the Fletch we were expecting (I’d honestly still like to see Kevin Smith’s proposed version with Jason Lee) but a Fletch that has a pretty decent pedigree – including Jon Hamm playing the titular character and Greg Mottola and Zev Borow behind the camera. Ok, so it won’t match up to the craziness of Chevy Chase’s two Fletch movies (could any new Fletch movie?) but we’ve got the acting chops, plus the action And the comedy experience – all of which stand the film in good stead…

McG, who has been busy producing movies for Netflix, returned to broadcast television this season with three pilots on three different networks for his Wonderland Sound and Vision banner, True Lies, based on James Cameron’s 1994 movie, on CBS; Not Dead Yet starring Gina Rodriguez on ABC; and the Jensen Ackles-produced Supernatural prequel The Winchesters on the CW. Over the last couple of days, all three were picked up to series. Additionally, BET+ just picked up Wonderland’s series Average Joe, created by Robb Cullen and starring Deon Cole.
The slate of four series on the air harkens back to Wonderland’s most prolific time in television a decade ago when the company also had four series with Supernatural, Nikita, Chuck and Human Target. This Young Justice Phantoms review contains spoilers.
Young Justice Season 4 Episode 13
Young Justice Phantoms hit its midseason break with this week’s episode, “Kaerb Ym Traeh!” And it was maybe the strongest episode of the season: lots of storylines were tied off, while the annoying motion comic section was cordoned off to an argument between the Lords of Chaos and Order, and Vandal Savage and the Phantom Stranger. Not moving any of the figures around wasn’t actually a problem there, because the motion wasn’t necessarily the point.
This week’s episode is also the first with a legitimate post-credits scene, and it’s…an interesting choice. They’re gonna hide Desaad in Mary Bromfeld.
The episode brings closure to Zatanna’s portion of the story. Her team battles Child and Flaw to save Earth, while Savage talks the Lords of Chaos out of supporting Child and evening the odds for the team.

Paramount has set “Star Trek: Discovery” writer and consulting producer Kalinda Vazquez to write a new untitled “Star Trek” movie, according to an individual with knowledge of the project.
J.J. Abrams will produce the project via his Bad Robot banner.
The blind deal is for an original movie that Vazquez pitched, though details about the project are being kept under wraps. Of note, Vazquez got her birth name from the original “Star Trek” television show — she was named after the character Kelinda from the 1968 Season 2 episode “By Any Other Name.”
The untitled Vazquez project comes after Paramount pumped the brakes on Noah Hawley’s “Star Trek” movie last August, as well as another project that was being hatched by Quentin Tarantino.

Despite much of the network’s airtime being devoted to procedurals, CBS has developed a recent tradition of devoting its summer programming slots to more out-there genre programming — shows that might defy expectations and represent more bonkers storytelling.
This year, look to “Blood and Treasure” as the latest show to follow in this tradition. A modern-day action thriller with touches of “Indiana Jones” and “National Treasure,” creators Matthew Federman and Stephen Scaia deliver an odd couple globe-trotting adventure about an antiquities expert and a cunning art thief who team up to take down a notorious thief/terrorist (played by “The Mummy’s” Oded Fehr.)
Matt Barr, previously seen in the CW’s “Valor” and Fox’s “Sleepy Hollow,” leads the cast alongside Sofia Pernas, whose recent TV credits include “Jane the Virgin” and NBC’s “The Brave.” The series also stars Michael James Shaw, Katia Winter, James Callis, Alicia Coppola,...

Once Arrow fans had a chance to digest the official synopsis for the season finale, none of us could help pondering which returning familiar faces it was referring to. Whether your suspicions be directed toward Talia al Ghul, Ricardo Diaz or Curtis Holt, these are all entirely valid choices, but some recently presented evidence may hint at who one of them may be.
Believe it or not, the network has released two more images from next week’s episode, “Living Proof,” and they feature none other than Colin Donnell’s Tommy Merlyn. I don’t know why these couldn’t have been included in the original set released earlier this week, but you’re free to check them out below.
As longtime viewers of the series should recall, Tommy met his untimely demise during season 1’s finale but has appeared in flashbacks and hallucinations in the time since. More recently,...

Matt Miller, the creator of Fox’s “Lethal Weapon” series, has inked a new exclusive multiyear overall deal with Warner Bros. TV, a person with knowledge of the deal told TheWrap.
Miller is also a co-creator of NBC sitcom “Trial & Error,” which we learned last week is currently being shopped by Wbtv to other platforms. Season 2 of the low-rated comedy is currently toiling away in the hot (and lightly viewed) summer months, and the deadline for NBC to renew or cancel the comedy has passed. They could still bring it back though — if NBC wants to and is the highest bidder.
Under terms of his new deal, Miller will continue to develop new drama and comedy series for the studio.

Brad Kern has been suspended from NCIS: New Orleans.
The news was confirmed Sunday the Television Critics Association summer press tour.
“I believe in terms of keeping him out of the workplace during the investigation, that was to be as fair and open as we could be,” CBS Entertainment President Kelly Kahl told reporters.
“The investigation is ongoing. I’m told we will have results soon.”
This marks the third misconduct investigation against Kern at the network. Variety confirmed in December last year that there were two internal investigations that were found inconclusive.

“Dark Matter” (Syfy)
The “Dark Matter” TV series came years after the debut of the Dark Horse comic book it’s based on, but creators Joseph Mallozzi and Paul Mullie originally conceived of the series — about six individuals who wake up on a starship together with their memories wiped — as a TV show before it was redeveloped as a comic in 2012.
“Wynonna Earp” (Syfy)
Syfy has a number of science fiction series based on lesser known comic book titles, including the fan-favorite “Wynonna Earp,” starring Melanie Scrofano as the demon-fighting descendent of legendary lawman Wyatt Earp.
“Outcast” (Cinemax)
After the massive success of AMC’s “The Walking Dead,” creator Robert Kirkman went on to adapt his supernatural horror comic series “Outcast” for television. The adaptation, starring Patrick Fugit as the titular outcast, debuted on Cinemax in 2016.
