Have you ever heard any of the outlandish tales of Nazis hiding out in hollow earth following WW2? You will following next year’s release of The Asylum’s Nazis at the Center of the Earth. Can a former Lolita and a Starship Trooper save us from the Fourth Reich’s underground movement?
Researchers in Antarctica are abducted by a team of masked stormtroopers. They are dragged deep underground to a hidden continent in the center of the earth. Here Nazi survivors, their bodies a horrifying patchwork of decaying and regenerated flesh, are planning for the revival of the Third Reich.
So they’re not just Nazis – They’Re Frankenazis!
Dominique Swain (Face Off, Alpha Dog), seen in the accompanying picture possibly on her way to a Halloween party costumed as Nikki Finke, has signed on to star in this Asylum epic from Megafault screenwriter Paul Bales and director Joseph Lawson.

Once notorious for making mockbusters of major motion pictures, now it appears The Asylum has found a new niche making ridiculous b-movies. You have to be embracing absurdity if you're releasing a movie called Titanic II and following it up with a modern updating of Moby Dick that involves a high-tech sub and a prehistoric monster whale. Not to mention a Paranormal Activity-ish horror set inside of John Wayne Gacy's house.
Barry Bostwick (The Rocky Horror Picture Show, "Spin City") and Renee O'Connor (Xena's sidekick "Gabrielle") have just begun filming The Asylum's take of Moby Dick, set to be released to DVD on November 23rd.
A modern adaptation of the classic novel of the captain of a high tech submarine and his obsessive quest to destroy the enormous prehistoric whale that maimed him.
Whether this Moby Dick will attempt to follow in the campy footsteps (Should that be finsteps?...

Actress Brittany Murphy died Sunday morning in Los Angeles, California of 'cardiac arrest', but no one is clear why. Most suspect drug abuse. The 32-year-old star of horror films like Dead Line, Something Wicked, and the low-budget Aslum disaster flick Megafault was found unconscious in the shower by her mother.
No one can deny that since her 1995 role as a cute brunette in the teen comedy Clueless, her appearance drastically changed to a stick-thin blond with a vacant stare...
"She seemed to go through a change on Clueless," Clueless director Amy Heckerling told And the Winner Is... on Sunday. "Maybe she felt like she was not the, like, skinny, pretty girl, you know? And then the next few movies she was, you know, thinner, blonde ... and going out with Ashton Kutcher suddenly got more into that whole glamorous scene. I think she felt the pressure to become a different sort...

Death has been working overtime this year. So far, Hollywood has lost legends Ed McMahon, Farrah Fawcett, Karl Malden, Bea Arthur, Dom DeLuise, John Hughes, Michael Jackson, Patrick Swayze, David Carradine, Billy Mays and with only a couple weeks left in 2009, death has claimed the young life of actress Brittany Murphy.
According to TMZ, Murphy was found unconscious in her shower this morning by her mother around 8 Am at her home in Los Angeles, California. Paramedics quickly came to her house and determined that she was in full cardiac arrest (read: heart attack) and performed CPR all the way to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, just a few miles away. Attempts to revive her were unsuccessful and she was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Brittany Murphy is survived by her husband of 2 years Simon Monjack and had no children.

Brittany Murphy, the actress who got her start in the sleeper hit "Clueless" and rose to stardom in "8 Mile" before her movie roles declined in recent years, died Sunday in Los Angeles of what appeared to be natural causes, a Los Angeles County coroner's official said. She was 32.
Murphy was pronounced dead at 10:04 a.m. at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, hospital spokeswoman Sally Stewart said.
Murphy was transported to the hospital after the Los Angeles Fire Department responded to a call at 8 a.m. at the home she shared with her husband, British screenwriter Simon Monjack, in the Hollywood Hills.
Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter said Murphy apparently collapsed in the bathroom, and authorities were looking into her medical history.
An official cause of death may not be determined for some time, since toxicology tests will be required, but "it appears to be natural," Winter said. He said an autopsy...

Established 1974! Our news column knows Love Never Dies, it just lingers on in a coma.
*Note: This was technically Yesterday's Medialog but was delayed in posting.
Sequels
One of the byproducts of Disney’s deal to acquire Marvel is that it has jumpstarted more Marvel movies previously incubating (or in a coma) at other studios, which are now very interested in retaining whatever film rights they have. Thus, Variety reports, Sony is developing Venom, spinning off that Marvel antagonist/anti-hero from Spider-man 3 into his own picture. Gary Ross (Pleasantville, Seabiscuit) would write and maybe direct this one, which probably Wouldn’T star Topher Grace (Eddie Brock/Venom in Spider-man 3). For more, see the link.
Love Never Dies, Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber’s stage musical sequel to his Phantom Of The Opera megahit, is still in the works, though it got rescheduled. It’ll now open in London in March,...

Back in May, the trailer for "Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus" was unleashed onto the world and quickly became a fan favorite for its cheesy concept and terrible effects. Talks of a sequel began, but obviously nothing ever materialized. The Asylum company is now back with another rip-off, this time of the upcoming Roland Emmerich's "2012" disaster movie. Their new movie is called "MegaFault," but unlike some of Asylum's other films like "Transmorphers" and "Snakes on the Train," it actually has some decent actors, including Brittany Murphy (8 Mile), Eriq La Salle ("ER"), Bruce Davison (X-Men). We now have the trailer for "MegaFault," which you can check out below. And check out the entire movie on October 10th on the SyFy channel. The DVD will be released in stores on November 24th. Trailer: If you cannot see the player, click here.

MTV got the exclusive first look at the trailer for MegaFault, starring none other than Brittany Murphy and Eriq La Salle. The duo play a seismologist and a miner, respectively, racing to stop a giant earthquake that threatens to tear the world in half.

Syfy will be premiering the film on October 10, 2009 at 9 pm (8 pm Central). Per Paul Bales' News & Production Blog on The Asylum's website, "MegaFault is our biggest budget film to date and has more action and special effects than Julie and Julia.
