Battlebox was filmed entirely in Hong Kong. The main film sets were constructed inside an industrial building overlooking Aberdeen Harbour (you could see the famous Jumbo floating restaurant from the production set windows).
Battlebox is part of a World War II trilogy about the Battle of Hong Kong. The other two movies are "Hong Kong 1942" and "Christmas at the Royal Hotel".
Actor Michael Szuc, who plays British Major-General Maltby in Battlebox, also appears in two other movies about the Battle of Hong Kong (Hong Kong 1942 & Christmas at the Royal Hotel).
The exterior battle scenes in Battlebox were filmed in a small village close to the Hong Kong / Mainland Chinese border. At times, Chinese military helicopters would fly their border patrols, disrupting the shoot.
