Jen Salke, the head of Amazon MGM Studios, is stepping down from her role and will focus on starting a new production entity, Prime Video head Mike Hopkins said in an internal memo sent to staff and obtained by IndieWire.

When Warner Bros. Discovery pulled its catalog of original “Looney Tunes” cartoons from Max on March 16 in a reported effort to make the streaming service more “adult,” cinephiles were understandably upset. By removing all of the Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies shorts that were produced between 1930 and 1969, Warners made hundreds of the funniest and most influential cartoons in the history of animation — the work of masters like Tex Avery, Bob Clampett, and Frank Tashlin — vanish from streaming in an instant.
Yet the Looney Tunes classics are still available and hiding in plain sight, thanks to Warner Archive, a boutique physical media label nestled inside Warner Bros. that has been quietly preserving, restoring, and celebrating the studio’s artistic legacy for over 16 years.
A few months ago, Warner Archive released the 4-disc, 642-minute “Looney Tunes: Collector’s Choice – Vol. 1-4” collection on Blu-ray, and it’s only the latest example of...

Brad Pitt & Gwyneth Paltrow Reunion(Photo Credit –Facebook)
Mr. & Mrs. Smith is known for Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s pairing. But that wasn’t the original plan. Director Doug Liman first wanted Gwyneth Paltrow with Pitt. They were prominent exes then. Liman thought their past would add real strain.
Before Brad and Angelina made headlines, there was Brad and Gwyneth. The two dated from 1994 to 1997 after meeting on the set of Se7en. They soon got engaged. Even in 1996, Pitt called Paltrow his “angel, the love of my life” during his Golden Globe speech.
However, they broke up before getting wedded. Years later, Paltrow explained to Howard Stern that she wasn’t ready for marriage. She said (via People), “I was 22 when we met. I wasn’t ready, and he was too good for me.”

Shaken, stirred, or even streamed, spy movies make up many of the most exciting, edge-of-your-seat stories the movies have to offer. From the harrowing heights of the “Mission: Impossible” franchise to the suave savvy of six James Bonds, espionage has become the thematic ground on which some of cinema’s most epic dramas, thrillers, and comedies are built. Even films primarily centered on other subject matter make frequent use of spy drama beats, proving it’s a bedrock source for onscreen entertainment.
The espionage genre is as old as filmmaking itself with silent spy movies set against the backdrop of World War I (1914’s “The German Spy Peril” is on YouTube) testing the medium’s limitations early in the 20th century. Literary works inspired many more of the spy movies to follow. Over the years, filmmakers have repeatedly adapted the works of John le Carré, Robert Ludlum, Ian Fleming, and...

White Lotus is halfway through its third season, and the drama is finally intensifying for several characters staying at the Thailand resort. After a local celebration that found three of the privileged vacationers targeted and water gunned, and Belinda recognized Tanya’s toxic ex-husband Greg (who goes by Gary now), the danger is escalating. But we noticed that one of the actors helping drum up the drama and the comedy of the show has soap roots. Which actor is it?

Brad Pitt has been a consistent presence in blockbuster action comedies for the better part of the past two decades. After rising to fame for dramatic roles during the 1990s – such as in A River Runs Through It, Legends of the Fall, Interview with the Vampire, Seven, and Fight Club – Pitt found further commercial success by starring in the Ocean's trilogy of heist comedies. He further solidified his status as a leading man in blockbuster action movies like Troy, the action-comedy Mr. & Mrs. Smith, and World War Z.
In 2020, Pitt won his first Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his performance as stuntman Cliff Booth in Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Michael Angarano is making his sophomore directorial effort with road trip coming of age comedy “Sacramento” — and it sure doesn’t hurt to have an all-star cast behind the wheel.
“Minx” alum Angarano directs and stars in “Sacramento,” which he co-wrote with Chris Smith. This is Angarano’s second feature he’s directed; the star made his debut with 2017’s “Avenues.”
“Sacramento” centers on Angarano and Michael Cera’s characters, as the duo embark on a road trip before Cera’s onscreen wife Kristen Stewart gives birth. “PEN15” co-creator and “Mr. and Mrs. Smith” actress Maya Erskine, who is also Angarano’s real-life partner, co-stars.
The official logline reads: “Following the death of his father, energetic and free-spirited Rickey (Angarano) convinces long-time friend Glenn (Cera) to go on an impromptu road trip from Los Angeles to Sacramento. Frustrated by Rickey’s Peter Pan complex, Glenn is encouraged by his pregnant...

Heart Eyes is a winning romance and a killer slice of slasher movie fun. Not an easy balance to pull off. The team behind the hit—which made even more money in its second weekend at the box office—succeeded with sincerity. Not for a second do genres clash in the hands of director Josh Ruben and cinematographer Stephen Murphy.
Murphy is a seasoned pro behind the camera, having shot excellent episodes of Atlanta and Mr. & Mrs. Smith. Romantic comedies aren't usually in his wheelhouse, so Heart Eyes gave him the opportunity to stretch his talents and explore a new aesthetic.
Recently, Murphy spoke with Daily Dead about shooting a rom-com, crafting some lovely kills, and recalled his first gig on set—working with horror legend Stuart Gordon.
[Editor's Note: This interview covers major Heart Eyes plot points and spoilers.]
I assume you wanted to make every shot of Heart Eyes as dynamic as possible.

The following contains spoilers for Yellowjackets Season 3, Episode 3, "Them's the Brakes," which premiered Friday, Feb. 21 on Paramount+.
One thing that critics and fans alike have noticed about the first few episodes of Yellowjackets Season 3 is that the wilderness is no longer an active threat to the stranded teenagers. In the previous two seasons, the wilderness was an enemy that forced the teens to either get on its side or die. The wilderness provides when it's given a sacrifice. It seems like in Season 3, the wilderness was given a sacrifice of some sort, but not one that the teenagers are fully aware of.

Caleb Hearon wants a landline. Specifically one of those old-fashioned corded landlines (maybe even a rotary?) so he can speak to his friends while in the kitchen and making pasta with that long spiral following his steps.
Hearon is done with smartphones. Actually, the whole internet — he wants off. But wait, it’s not that simple, because he has a podcast (So True with Caleb Hearon) and he needs you to listen to it so he can still make money. Hmmm… he’ll let you figure it out.
If you haven’t taken his advice, then you’ve seen his clips floating around the internet. FX's Shōgun, adapted from the novel by James Clavell, was an absolute triumph. Released in 2024, the series was a critical hit, dominating the streaming charts and taking home a record-breaking 18 Primetime Emmys last year. While audiences and critics may have loved the hit samurai drama, one person who couldn't get on board with the modern adaptation is Jerry London, who directed the beloved 1980 Shōgun miniseries.
During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Jerry London aired his grievances about the latest adaptation, namely that a series set in Japan and featuring Japanese characters played by Japanese actors had the gall to mostly be in Japanese. "It’s completely different from the one I did," London said. The 1980 miniseries was a far looser adaptation of Clavell's giant novel, and homed in on the romance between John Blackthorne and Mariko, often at the expense of its Japanese cast. London explained:

In 2024, Prime Video debuted the spy television series Mr. & Mrs. Smith, inspired by the 2005 film of the same name starring Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt. The series was a hit, and Prime Video renewed it for Season 2.

The O.C.was a beloved TV series of the teen drama genre that ran from 2003 to 2007. The series follows a group of teenagers living in Newport Beach, Orange County, with Ryan Atwood (Ben McKenzie) being taken in by the wealthy Cohen family. The four-season series followed Ryan as the fish-out-of-water, along with his best friend, Seth Cohen (Adam Brody), girl-next-door Marissa Cooper (Mischa Barton), and her best friend, Summer Roberts. (Rachel Bilson)
The success of the series launched its main cast into stardom, with Ben McKenzie going on to star in Gotham, Rachel Bilson in Hart of Dixie and Jumper, and Adam Brody in Mr. and Mrs. Smith, as well as Netflix’s Nobody, Wants This, which won him a Critics' Choice Award. However, there are several well-known Hollywood stars who made smaller appearances on The O.C. before their careers took off.

Aside from the peculiar appearance of a certain flightless waterfowl, Saturday night’s WGA Awards were a familiar affair.
“Hacks” won its second trophy in four years for Best Comedy Series, as well as its second trophy in the same span for Best Episodic Comedy, continuing a victory parade that began at the 2024 Emmys when it upset “The Bear” for the top prize. That hot streak has continued into 2025 with wins at the Casting Society of America, Costume Designers Guild Awards, Directors Guild Awards, Producers Guild Awards, and AFI Awards, among others. With Season 4 having wrapped production in January, creators Lucia Aniello, Paul W. Downs, and Jen Statsky’s Max original should enter the 2025 Emmy season as the presumptive favorite.
The season’s dominant drama, “Shōgun,” won’t be back in time to compete in 2025 — the writers’ room is still plugging away at Season 2 — but its Season 1 winning streak also...

“Nosferatu” (Craig Lathrop), “Wicked” (Nathan Crowley), and “Conclave” (Suzie Davies) were the period, fantasy, and contemporary production design winners at the 29th annual Art Directors Guild Awards, held February 15 at the InterContinental Los Angeles Downtown.
Also winning for animation was “The Wild Robot”, following its Annies sweep and Ves prizes. On the TV side, “Shōgun,” “Squid Game,” “Fallout,” and “The Penguin” were the winners for their production designers in their respective categories.
The Lathrop win for “Nosferatu” was not surprising when you consider that “The Brutalist” production designer Judy Becker is not an Adg member. She has been the presumptive Oscar favorite for channeling Oscar-nominated Adrien Brody’s visionary architect, László Tóth, in applying a Brutalist style to the architectural designs of mid-century Pennsylvania with its bold shapes and function over form aesthetic.
Lathrop, who has worked on all of director Robert Eggers’ other films, received his first Oscar nomination for “Nosferatu.

Awards-watchers are accustomed to waiting for the end of every awards show to see the big film categories handed out, but Saturday’s Writers Guild Awards threw everybody for a loop by making the film awards the first two categories of the night in simultaneous ceremonies in Los Angeles and New York.
“Nickel Boys” won the first award of the night, for Best Adapted Screenplay, and “Anora” won the second, for Best Original Screenplay. The awards led off the shows because the BAFTA Awards are taking place in London on Sunday, with the categories’ early placement giving “Nickel Boys” writers RaMell Ross and Joslyn Barnes and “Anora” writer Sean Baker more time to get to London.
In the television categories that ended the show, “Shōgun” and “Hacks” continued the roll they’ve been on since last September’s Emmy Awards, with the former show winning three awards and the latter show winning two.

“Shōgun” dominated with three wins at the Writers Guild Awards on Saturday evening — including best drama, while “Hacks” scored two on the TV side, including best comedy. “Shōgun” was the night’s big winner, picking up prizes for best drama, best new series and best drama episode. On the comedy side, “Hacks” also scored a double play, landing best comedy and best comedy episode. In the limited field, “The Penguin” scored the series win.

After the Los Angeles fires in late January, many awards events were canceled or pushed back. On Thursday, things seemingly got back under way with the annual AFI Top Ten awards lunch at the Four Seasons, which in effect stood in for the canceled Academy Nominees Lunch, as applause rippled across the room at the announcement of each of the ten film and TV winners and their clips.
Who got the most applause?
Nabbing a rousing standing ovation was L.A. firefighter Timmy Larson, representing the thousands of people who risked their lives to fight the raging fires just a few weeks ago. Next biggest? Harrison Ford, the only AFI Life Achievement Award winner, on hand for Apple TV+’s “Shrinking.” Adam Brody and Kristen Bell’s Netflix series “Nobody Wants This” had a noisy fanbase. And “Sing Sing” is clearly popular.
But at the end of the event, the last movie alphabetically was “Wicked,...

Mr. & Mrs. Smith Season 2 (Photo Credit – Instagram)
Amazon Prime Video’s Mr. & Mrs. Smith series sneaked onto screens and delivered a delightfully unexpected twist on the classic 2005 movie. This time, it’s not just about the explosive action or spy drama, though that’s still plenty fun, but also about the messy, hilarious, and surprisingly touching relationship between the two secret agents. Donald Glover and Maya Erskine steal the show as the covert couple navigating a chaotic mix of espionage and marital drama.
Critics were quick to praise their sizzling chemistry, making the action-packed missions feel more like a rollercoaster romance than just a series of spy encounters. While the 2005 movie didn’t exactly dive deep into emotional territory, the show wisely used its 8-episode run to explore the heart of their partnership. And guess what? Season 2 is officially on the way, meaning the thrill and drama will only get juicier!
