Exclusive: South Asian film star Taapsee Pannu has signed for representation with Crimson Media.

She becomes the latest Indian talent to sign with Crimson this year, coming after the likes of Farhan Akhtar, Sayani Gupta and Rajshri Deshpande.

Pannu, who works across Hindi, Telugu and Tamil film, is coming off 2023 hit Dunki, where she appeared opposite Shah Rukh Khan in Rajkumar Hirani’s feature about an illegal immigration technique called ‘donkey flight.’

In Tamil film, her notable roles gave come in the likes of 2011’s Aadukalam, comic horror Kanchana 2, tense action thriller Arrambam and thriller Game Over. Mumbai, Dec 23 (Ians) The upcoming Shahid Kapoor and Pooja Hegde-starrer film ‘Deva’ has wrapped up its first schedule in Mumbai.

The film is an action thriller directed by Rosshan Andrrews. Shot in Mumbai, the cameras started rolling for ‘Deva’ in late October 2023. The makers of the film took to social media to confirm the completion of the first schedule of the film.

The film is produced by Siddharth Roy Kapur of Roy Kapur Films and Zee Studios.

Sunny, whose film Kennedy will be premiering at Indian Film Festival of Melbourne, in a conversation with Ians, said: “Well, right before this interview I was in a meeting at my children’s school and then I was in an interview.”

“Then I will go pick them up and then do more work. Then I would go to another meeting. Then I would do more stuff with my kids… Every single day is very different. I am very thankful that I get to balance it all out with my family.”

Indian auteur Anurag Kashyap is back in Cannes with thriller “Kennedy,” starring Rahul Bhat in the title role.

The film, which also stars Sunny Leone, will play in the Midnight Screenings strand of the festival. Several films directed by Kashyap have played at Cannes, including “Psycho Raman” (2016), “Ugly” (2013), “Bombay Talkies” (2013) and “Gangs of Wasseypur” (2012). In addition, several films produced by him have made it to the Croisette, including “Masaan” (2015), “The Lunchbox” (2013), “Monsoon Shootout” (2013), “The Congress” (2013) and “Udaan” (2010).

The plot of “Kennedy” is being kept under wraps at the moment. “Kennedy is a ghost in the system looking for redemption,” is how Kashyap describes the film to Variety.

The filmmaker says that the character of Kennedy has been an obsession with him for years and was born when fellow Indian filmmaker Sudhir Mishra hired him to write a cop story set in the 1980s. That film never got made but the character stayed with Kashyap.

Actor Abhilash Thapliyal, who is known for his work in streaming vertical with ‘Faadu’, ‘Blurr’, ‘Aspirants’ and ‘Sk Sir Ki Class’, is currently on cloud nine as his film ‘Kennedy’, directed by the poster boy of Indian indie cinema – Anurag Kashyap, is set to head to the prestigious Cannes Film Festival.

The actor shared that he had preconceived notions about Kashyap being intimidating as a director but he was pleasantly surprised to find him very welcoming and warm.

Abhilash said: “I met Anurag Sir for the first time in Pune, he was shooting for ‘Dobaaraa’. And I was really intimidated because I was meeting one of the best filmmakers our country has. So you want to behave yourself and you don’t want to be overly friendly. But he was extremely welcoming and he shared so many stories from his life, his journey, his interests and more.”

This changed attitude was demonstrated recently when few people turned up to watch either Akshay Kumar’s ‘Raksha Bandhan’ or Aamir Khan’s ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’. A week later, the same reluctance was evident for the comparatively smaller film, ‘Do Baaraa’.

‘Raksha Bandhan’ and ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ were both released in the same week to cash in on the extended holiday period starting with the festival of Raksha Bandhan on August 11, leading up to Independence Day, and ending with the Parsi New Year on August 16. When two high-profile films have been released in the same week at other times, often both have proved to be successful and there was no reason why these two should not have taken advantage of this long weekend and reap the benefit. Sadly, there were no takers for either!

“Dobaaraa” is a supernatural thriller that Liff describes as involving a young woman trapped between two lives in different decades. Kashyap has previously told Variety that “Dobaaraa” is a Hindi-language adaptation of Oriol Paulo’s 2018 Spanish-language film “Mirage.” It stars Taapsee Pannu, an actor known for her eclectic choice of projects.

Kashyap had read the script of “Mirage” before the film was made and was taken by it. This is the first time Kashyap has done a remake. “It is a nice, fascinating idea for me to delve into, I can’t come up with an idea like that,” Kashyap told Variety. “So I said, why not step outside my secure zone and attempt something.”

Indian actor Taapsee Pannu is on a roll. She has just won best actress at India’s prestigious Filmfare awards for her role in Anubhav Sinha’s “Thappad” and wrapped shooting Anurag Kashyap’s “Dobaaraa.”

Pannu also has a raft of films coming up, including Sony Pictures’ official remake of “Run Lola Run” (“Looop Lapeta”), cricket biopic “Shabaash Mithu,” sports drama “Rashmi Rocket,” Netflix thriller “Haseen Dillruba” and comedy “Woh Ladki Hai Kahaan?”

Pannu began her career in South Indian cinema, debuting with Telugu-language “Jhummandi Naadam” in 2010, followed by Tamil-language “Aadukalam” (2011), which won a clutch of accolades at India’s national film awards. Even after breaking through into the Hindi-language Bollywood film industry, Pannu continues to act in South Indian films.

In the Instagram post, the actress put up a photograph where she can be seen shaking hands with director Kashyap.

The actress posted a picture of her living room that has vintage sofa sets and a wooden carved centre table. She struck a pose in a white lace saree, which she teamed with a red vintage blouse and silver bangles, against the backdrop. She tied her hair in a loose bun.

Mumbai, March 14 (Ians) Actor Pavail Gulati, who recently shot an ad with actress Alia Bhatt, says that he likes taking up ad shoots. However, the actor adds that the short time doesn't allow him to interact with everyone else on the set.

"Filming for ads is fun. The only difference between shooting for a film and shooting for an ad is, I think, the time involved to shoot. For an ad, you shoot only for a couple of days, so you don't get to interact with everybody like you do on a film set. You work for a longer time on a film set and that kind of brings you closer together," says Pavail, who has been seen in film such as "Ittefaq", "Thappad" and "Kalank".

Talking about filming his recent ad with Alia, Pavail says that the entire experience was amazing. "It was a fun, quirky shoot. I had a blast.
