Bill Skarsgård is proving to have the most varied and interesting career of the talented Skarsgård clan. Son of Stellan Skarsgård (Dune: Part Two) and brother of Alexander (The Northman) and Gustaf (Vikings) Skarsgård, Bill has continuously chosen projects that showcase his range and abilities. In Locked he takes on the difficult task of carrying an entire narrative with nothing to work against except the imposing voice of Anthony Hopkins. It’s an imposing challenge that Skarsgård concurs with ease, giving the greatest performance of his career.

Written and directed by Amy Wang, the co-creator of the short-lived Michelle Yeoh Netflix series The Brothers Sun and writer of the upcoming Crazy Rich Asians sequel, Slanted is the type of high-concept genre picture that had the potential to either be great or a total flop. Playing like a mix of Get Out and The Substance, Slanted is a smart, funny, and surprisingly emotional satire despite its occasional adherence to formula.
Slanted Review
Slanted follows an Asian-Amerian teenager who decides to take drastic measures to become popular and win the title of prom queen: she gets an experimental surgery that changes her appearance to make her look white. Blending body horror with fish-out-of-water comedy and high school teen drama, Slanted hits a lot of familiar tropes, but in a way that doesn’t quite feel derivative.
As is often the case with genre films, there’s little subtlety to...

Netflix picked up the rights to Stephen King's 1981 novel Cujo and is currently developing a new adaptation. Now, The Hollywood Reporter says acclaimed director Darren Aronofsky—best known for Requiem for a Dream, Black Swan, Mother!, and The Whale—is circling the project.
The 1983 version directed by Lewis Teague was a modest box office success despite garnering mixed reviews. In the decades since, Cujo has become a cult classic, with many praising the central performance from Dee Wallace who plays a desperate mother trying to protect her son from Cujo's wrath.
The poor St. Bernard starts out as your typical happy-go-lucky dog until he gets bitten by a rabid bat and turns feral. One of the film's most famous scenes is the climactic car showdown toward the end, when Cujo is frantically trying to break into Donna's (Wallace) vehicle as she hides inside it with her son. As...

Victor keeps pretending that he cares about Kyle hurting Claire, but the March 18 episode of The Young and the Restless made it clear what he really wants to do is stick it to Jack. By any means necessary. Victor has played lots of dirty tricks on Jack in the past. But there was one so awful, that we still can’t believe he got away with it. And, under the circumstances, that he won’t try it again.

The worst thing Victor (Eric Braeden) ever did was have Jack (Peter Bergman) kidnapped and replaced by a dude named Marco. Who happened to look exactly like Jack. Which was why Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) kept sleeping with him. And why he was able to practically hand over most of Jabot to his arch-enemy, while convincing his board and family that it was for the best.

Netflix's adaptation of Stephen King's Cujo takes another step forward, with an Oscar-nominated director reportedly a top contender to helm the upcoming film. Released in 1981, King's novel of the same tells the story of a sweet St. Bernard family pet who becomes a violent killing machine after contracting rabies from a bat, trapping a mother and her son inside a broken-down vehicle outside a mechanic's shop. Cujo was adapted into a movie in 1983 from director Lewis Teague, and it was announced last week that another take on the novel is now in the works at Netflix.
THR now reports that Darren Aronofsky is in talks to direct Cujo for Netflix, with Roy Lee producing. Lee is a King veteran, having produced both It movies, Salem's Lot (2024), and Francis Lawrence's upcoming The Long Walk. Darren Aronofsky is circling Netflix’s “Cujo,” a remake of Stephen King’s horror novel about a bloodthirsty St. Bernard.
“Cujo” remains in early stages of development and Aronofsky has yet to have a creative meeting with Netflix, according to sources familiar with the project. Should the deal close, the film would mark Aronofsky’s first feature for a streaming service.
Although occasionally courted by Hollywood (he was an early contender to reboot “Batman” before Christopher Nolan took over), Aronofsky has mostly stayed true to his indie roots. The filmmaker has directed such films as psychological drama “Requiem for a Dream,” psychological thriller “Black Swan,” psychological horror allegory “Mother!” and psychological case study “The Whale.” He’s currently putting the finishing touches on Sony’s “Caught Stealing,” a crime drama with Austin Butler and Zoe Kravitz that opens in theaters this August.

Darren Aronofsky is going to the dogs. Or maybe just one particular dog.
The acclaimed filmmaker, whose resume ranges from Requiem for a Dream to Black Swan to The Whale, is in talks to direct Netflix’s adaptation of Stephen King novel Cujo.
The feature project was only revealed last week, but it’s clearly further along than known or moving on the fast track.
Roy Lee, who established his King bonafides with the two It movies, Salem’s Lot, and the upcoming dystopian thriller The Long Walk, is producing. There is no writer yet on the project, but Aronofsky is expected to meet with candidates soon.

Every few years, the festival circuit does exactly what it’s supposed to do: discover an exciting new talent working within the confines of indie filmmaking in a way that feels legitimately fresh and innovative. Young filmmaker Alexander Ullom proves that he is that talent with his directorial debut It Ends, a true independent film that subverts expectations and feels subtly clever.
It Ends Review
It Ends follows four friends who find themselves in a strange dilemma: they miss their turn and end up on a road that seemingly never ends, trapped with no way out and no one but themselves and the sinister forces lurking in the woods. Ullom’s horror/thriller/psychological drama feels like it could be a lost episode of The Twilight Zone but for Gen Z, using its high-concept sci-fi premise to capture the anxieties of a generation that grew up in a post-covid world.

A real-life story of a young woman Facebook-stalking her father leads to a paternal friendship with an entirely different man in Bob Trevino Likes It. In fact, the other guy is a total stranger — who just happened to have the exact same name as the woman's actual dad. The new film is based on the inspiring true story of filmmaker Tracie Laymon, and the award-winning indie dramedy hits theaters March 21, 2025. The sensational Barbie Ferreira portrays her with utter grace, with the eponymous friendo who soon enters the heroine's life portrayed a charming (and always reliable) John Leguizamo.
We all know Leguizamo. It's hard to believe that the veteran Bronx native portrayed the tyrannical Tybalt almost 30 years ago in Baz Luhrmann's Romeo + Juliet. Leguizamo is much more likable in this latest fatherly role, to put it mildly. But if you didn't already know of Barbie Ferreira's work, this will be a pleasant surprise.

Before you decide this article isn’t worth your time and you jump to the comments based on the title alone, I urge you to hear me out.
As someone who loves the supporting cast of Tracker immensely, I am not against Colter eventually having a partner. They don’t necessarily need to be involved in every case, but if the known lone wolf shed his status and had someone by his side more often than not, I’d welcome it.
But that person shouldn’t be Billie Matalon.
(Sergei Bachlakov/CBS)
When Billie was first introduced during Tracker Season 1 Episode 6, I loved the flirty banter between her and Colter and how they helped each other but also had to learn to trust each other again.
Their relationship did feel lived in (perhaps due to the star’s real-life marriage), and I was perfectly okay with her being someone who...

Having penned some of the most iconic stories comics has to offer, unfortunately, the joyful nature of his writing didn’t translate into the final years of Stan Lee’s life, which were allegedly marked with elder abuse. Despite proving to be one of the most wholesome additions to the Infinity Saga, the legendary author was struggling with age-related illness behind the scenes.

Other prominent adaptations include The Shining (83%), Misery and the non-horror titles Stand by Me and The Shawshank Redemption.
On top of his critical success, quite a few Stephen King movies have become box office hits. The teaser for The Life of Chuck has finally arrived. The feature, which is based on the Stephen King novella of the same name, is the latest King adaptation written and directed by Mike Flanagan, who also made Doctor Sleep and Gerald's Game. The upcoming The Life of Chuck, which is not a horror movie like Flanagan's previous adaptations, stars Tom Hiddleston in the title role as an ordinary man whose life is depicted in three parts, in reverse chronological order, beginning with his death. The cast also includes Chiwetel Ejiofor, Karen Gillan, Matthew Lillard, Harvey Guillén, and Mark Hamill.
Neon has now unveiled the first official teaser trailer for The Life of Chuck. The minute-long video opens with the sound of a clock ticking playing over a vast expanse of starry sky. The rhythm is then matched by other sounds from Chuck's (Tom Hiddleston) life, including a heart monitor and a blinking streetlight.

It's hard to believe that it's been 10 years since one of the defining horror movies of its decade. It Followsis one of the best examples of 'art horror', a subgenre that has found its creative resurgence with studios like A24 and Neon. The movie follows a group of friends who are relentlessly stalked by an unseen presence. It Follows understands how to make its characters vulnerable, not through them making stupid choices, but by keeping the threat far away enough to make it feel omnipresent in everything they do. The movie maintains an impressive level of tension by essentially making the movie a haunting game of hot potato, as the curse can be passed on to someone else through sex.
With this, It Follows drenches everything with hormonal angst and an impending sense of doom. The movie emphasizes how young these characters are and makes the idea of maturing as...

Known for his twisted psychological thriller and horror novels, Stephen King is one of the most revered and prolific writers of our time. He published his first short story in 1967 and has gone on to release nearly a hundred novels and novellas since. Given this vast output, there are few subjects King hasn’t touched — among them, grief, fear, and human resilience.
While King is deeply beloved by horror fans, his work defies a singular genre. He’s written classics such as The Shining, Stand By Me, Misery, and It. Whether you’re a longtime King fan, or if you’re just familiarizing yourself with his writing now, here are a few film adaptions you can dive into on Netflix.

Deadline reports that Netflix has secured a deal to make a new feature film based on King’s 1981 novel Cujo. Roy Lee, who has previously produced the King adaptations Salem’s Lot (2024), The Stand (2020 – 2021), Doctor Sleep (2019), It (2017), and It Chapter Two (2019), will be producing the film. Now, the search is on for a writer.

Netflix has given a green light to a movie reboot of the Stephen King novel Cujo, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.
Roy Lee will produce the remake of the horror story about a mother and son who fight off a rabid dog while trapped in their car. Cujo was first adapted from King’s 1981 psychological horror novel of the same name where Cujo is at first a lovable St. Bernard, but after being bitten by a bat becomes everyone’s worst enemy.
In the 1983 film Cujo, a mother, Donna (Dee Wallace), and her son, Tad (Danny Pintauro) come into contact with Cujo and must fight for their lives. King’s novels, starting with 1976’s Carrie, have long been picked up by Hollywood for movie adaptations.
These include book-to-screen adaptations of The Shining, The Shawshank Redemption, Stand by Me, It and the sequel It Chapter Two. Other recent adaptations include Lewis Pullman...

Iconic Stephen King Story Getting New Adaptation At Netflix After '80s Movie Changed Its Dark Ending
Stephen King is one of the most frequently adapted authors in film and television history, with these projects garnering wide acclaim for several decades. Brian De Palma’s adaptation of King’s debut novel, Carrie, created a legendary horror sequence in 1976 when Sissy Spacek was drenched in pig's blood. In 1980, Stanley Kubrick directed The Shining with a visually stunning yet off-kilter take on King’s novel. Ten years later, Misery won Kathy Bates an Academy Award for her chilling performance as an obsessed literary fan, with other successful King adaptations including Stand By Me, Green Mile, and The Shawshank Redemption.
Recent years have seen a resurgence in King adaptations, with Andy Muschietti's It (2017) and It Chapter Two (2019) revitalizing the horror franchise as Bill Skarsgård took on the role of the killer clown Pennywise. Despite its box office struggles, Doctor Sleep (2019), a sequel to Kubrick's 1980 film, received positive reviews...

Netflix is preparing to make another Stephen King adaptation! According to a new Deadline exclusive, the streamer has finalized a deal to adapt King's novel Cujo into a new feature film with Roy Lee set to produce.
Lee is a well-known horror movie producer, having produced hit movies like Barbarian, Strange Darling, Companion, The Ring, and more. He's also producing the upcoming films Weapons and Until Dawn. But most notably, Lee has produced multiple King projects such as Doctor Sleep, Salem's Lot, It, It: Chapter Two, and The Stand. And Netflix has released a few adaptations, too, between Gerald's Game, 1922, and In the Tall Grass, so Lee and Netflix working together makes a lot of sense.
First published in 1981, Cujo is King's novel about a once sweet Saint Bernard who gets bit by a bat and turns rabid. From there, the massive animal goes on a rampage, killing multiple people throughout the book.

Netflix has greenlit a remake of Stephen King’s novel “Cujo,” a horror story about a mother and son who get trapped in their car while protecting themselves from a rabid dog.
Roy Lee (“Barbarian”) will produce the reboot, which has yet to attach a writer, director or cast members, per Deadline, which broke the news of the project. King’s 1981 book was first adapted for the screen in the 1983 feature film of the same name, directed by Lewis Teague and starring Dee Wallace, Daniel Hugh Kelly and Danny Pintauro. At the box office, “Cujo” earned $21 million worldwide (not adjusted for inflation) against a $6 million budget.
King’s novels, in genres ranging from horror and sci-fi to crime and fantasy, have been rich material for Hollywood, with films such as “Carrie,” “The Shining,” “Shawshank Redemption,” “Stand By Me,” “It” and the sequel “It: Chapter Two.”

Stephen King is one of the most popular authors of all time. Since publishing his first novel, Carrie, in 1974, the author has earned the nickname the "King of Horror." Stephen King's best books include the aforementioned Carrie, as well as The Shining, The Stand, It, Misery, Doctor Sleep, and countless others. Throughout his career, King has published over 60 novels and novellas, many of which have been adapted into movies and television shows.
King is the second most adapted author of all time, only behind William Shakespeare. Therefore, in addition to wide ranging influence in pop culture, it is no surprise that he has an interest in the movie industry. The author is very active on social media, and often writes reviews for the most recent films he has seen. Most recently, King watched one of the highest-rated horror movies of 2025 and gave it a solid review.

Canada will soon have a new Prime Minister. And while we don’t know everything about him just yet, one thing we can say for certain is, he’s sadly not the “I’m crushing your head guy.”
Mark Carney was just elected to lead Canada’s Liberal party, replacing Justin Trudeau who resigned earlier this year. This will soon make him the country’s newest Prime Minister, because the Liberals currently hold a minority government in parliament — although Carney may not have the job for long, depending on the outcome of a federal election that must be called at some point this year, no later than October 20th. Sure it’s a little convoluted, but Canada probably won’t be taking notes from the country that elected the Ghosts Can't Do It guy twice.

Put bluntly, it was a very disappointing weekend at the box office. 2025 has not gotten off to the greatest start, with even Marvel's "Captain America: Brave New World" only doing okay in theaters, as opposed to the massive windfalls we'd come to expect from these movies in years past. Save for the unexpected $2 billion Chinese blockbuster "Ne Zha 2," it's been tough sledding. In keeping with that sentiment, director Bong Joon Ho's long-awaited sci-fi flick "Mickey 17" hit theaters this past weekend with disappointing results.
The good news for Warner Bros. is that "Mickey 17," which stars Robert Pattinson ("The Batman"), topped the charts domestically with $19 million. It led a weekend with very little new competition, save for Paul W.S. Anderson's fantasy epic "In the Lost Lands," which barely managed $1 million in its debut. Overall, the domestic box office for the weekend totaled just over $53 million. That's bad,...

Fans thought Brandon Sklenar might have been subtly showing his support for his It Ends With Us director Justin Baldoni on the red carpet earlier this month.
If you don’t know, both Brandon and Justin chose to wear the same pink floral brooch at separate red carpet events. Justin wore his to the It Ends with Us premiere in August, while Brandon wore his last week at an Oscars party.
Keep reading to find out more…
Well, Brandon was asked directly if this was on purpose or if there was a hidden meaning behind it.
“Honestly, no. I wish I could say there was,” he told People. “That was a total happenstance. I woke up in the morning and saw an article and I was like, ‘Oh, damn.’ I literally had no idea. I had an idea I wanted to wear like a floral brooch of some kind and...

Jump scares are a staple of modern horror. The sudden jolt, the sharp musical sting, and the inevitable moment of relief after the initial shock can make for a thrilling experience. But horror doesn’t always come from things that go bump in the night. Some of the scariest movies in history don’t rely on bursts of adrenaline -- they crawl under your skin, haunt your thoughts, and linger in your nightmares.
These films prove that a horror movie doesn’t need to make you jump to be truly terrifying. Whether through psychological dread, eerie atmosphere, or the simple horror of human nature, each movie delivers a bone-chilling experience without resorting to sudden frights. If you’re looking for slow-burning terror, existential dread, or pure, unrelenting tension, these films are a must-watch.

The crafty but ultimately disappointing “It Ends,” which just premiered at SXSW, takes a familiar experience and throws into a cleverly existential horror premise: What if you were driving on a deserted, tree-lined road in the middle of the night — an already eerie scenario that plenty of filmmakers have used to freak people out — but the road just never ended? What if you just kept going and going for thousands of miles?
There are moments throughout Alexander Ullom’s debut feature that are genuinely unnerving, as four 20-somethings try to figure out just what the hell is going on from the confines of their white Jeep. Ullom uses the car’s features to his advantage, mining the uncomfortable glow of flashing hazard lights and the incessant beeping of an open door, for tension.
But while the movie is often cleverly spooky, it falls short in finding meaning in its fun gimmick of a setup.

The first two episodes of Marvel Television’s Daredevil: Born Again have finally been released on Disney Plus, and the consensus has been mostly positive with a few valid complaints of how the new writers handled fan-favorite characters. The fandom has waited years for the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen to return and to be the lead of a show after countless cameos in adjacent projects, but the opening left them stunned.
It is refreshing to see Marvel Studios acknowledge the success of older Netflix series, but some would argue there are better ways to fill in the gaps and propel storylines further. While some fans applaud the writer’s boldness, some are still upset about how certain characters were treated.
Major spoilers will be discussed beyond this point.

In the last decade, a growing number of films and TV shows have iterated the time loop: Russian Doll‘s nested doll approach, Inception‘s infinitely spinning top. Alexander Ullom’s feature debut It Ends subverts those genre expectations at every turn—or rather, at every absence of a turn. Premiering in SXSW 2025’s Narrative Feature Competition, the film might superficially be grouped alongside similar-sounding genre titles like It, It Comes at Night and How It Ends. But as Ullom explained to me, his intentions were both more playful and somber. In a sense, this story about four zoomers who get into a car […]

Candace Owens, the far-right commentator and YouTuber who in recent months has juiced her already sizable online following by zealously defending Justin Baldoni in his It Ends With Us legal battle with Blake Lively, revealed in a Feb. 27 livestream that her next project will be attempting to exonerate Harvey Weinstein in the court of public opinion ahead of his April 15 retrial in New York on rape charges.
She explained she’s been talking with the imprisoned producer by telephone since early 2022, recording interviews since his second conviction in Los Angeles, also for rape and other sexual misconduct. Her takeaway: While he’s “an immoral man,” he’s also a victim of the justice system. Owens, a longtime and persistent critic of the #MeToo movement, of which the Weinstein saga served as the watershed, noted that “I’ve always had faith in our court system and now that’s beginning to change.
