Sharon Stone will star in the long-awaited third season of HBO’s Euphoria, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

“There is little more exciting than going to work with this team of thrilling talent,” Stone shared in a statement on Thursday regarding her casting. “From the genius of Sam Levinson to the raw sophistication of this profoundly moving cast and tight crew. I am honored to be Euphoric.” Earlier this month, THR reported that the veteran actress was in talks for a role on the hit show, created by Levinson.

Sex Pistols last performed with Lydon in September 2008, completing a run of European festival appearances as part of the original lineup’s most recent reunion. In a new interview with Rolling Stone Australia, Jones says that’s also the last time he spoke with the singer. Sex Pistols guitarist Steve Jones and original frontman John Lydon, aka Johnny Rotten, haven’t shared the stage since the band’s 2008 tour. Nor have they spoken to one another since.

In a new interview, Jones revealed that he’s been estranged from the singer for well over a decade — since that ’08 tour — and the guitarist isn’t eager to patch things up.

“I haven’t spoken to him in years,” Jones said on the Rockonteurs podcast (watch below). “2008 was the last time I spoke to him. We did 30 shows around Europe. We did a bunch of festivals and all that, Japan, Australia. We ended up at Hammersmith Odeon, Hammersmith Apollo, and then we had one more show in the Basque country and that was it.”

He continued, “I was done after that, no more. Too much. Too old, too much, not enough done.”

Sony has prevailed in a bidding war for rights to 28 Years Later, a new horror thriller based on the 2002 zombie classic 28 Days Later, which will reunite the original’s director Danny Boyle and screenwriter Alex Garland.

Boyle is attached to direct the pic, which is being looked at is the first in a new trilogy, with Garland set to script each installment. Budget for the films will be in the range of $75 million. In addition to Boyle and Garland, producers on 28 Years will include Andrew Macdonald and Peter Rice, the former head of Fox Searchlight Pictures. The latter was a division of former studio Twentieth Century Fox, which backed the original films. We’re finally set to get the the follow-on from 28 Days Later and 28 Months Later – with three new films now being planned.

For many, many years following the release of 2007’s 28 Weeks Later, there were rumours aplenty that a third film in the series was going to happen. It would have been something along the lines of 28 Months Later, but for whatever reason – Danny Boyle went off and won an Oscar, for one – things didn’t come together.

It felt like a shame, too. 2002’s 28 Days Later was an intense and successful British thriller that Boyle directed and Alex Garland wrote. 2007’s 28 Weeks Later saw Juan Carlos Fresnadillo take over the director’s chair (co-writing the feature as well), and that too was a success.

However, it’s taken nearly 17 years to get to this particular news story: further chapters in the series are finally on the way.

A major series chronicling the band’s glory years has taken “a tumble” out of development with FX amid wider content cuts at Disney, according to the show’s producer.

Andy Harries, CEO of The Crown producer Left Bank Pictures, said he was “regrouping” on the show and having conversations about its future — both in terms of a new home and showrunner.

“It’s not in with FX [anymore], unfortunately,” Harries told Deadline. “It did take a tumble out because of the cutbacks at Disney. It was just too expensive and too ambitious for the immediate agenda.”

He added, “John Landgraf was really effusive about the scripts and ambition for the show, but he just didn’t feel that he was going to be able to get it greenlit in the next two years.”

New Delhi, Aug 25 (Ians) India concluded their Baku World Championship campaign with a sixth gold and three more bronze medals to bolster their tally to six gold and eight bronze medals, placing them second currently in the medal standings.

The Women’s Standard Pistol trio picked up a bronze in the team competition, to swell the country’s tally to five gold and four bronze medals.

Riley, Elon Musk’s ex-wife, announced the news on Twitter — the social media owned by the entrepreneur and recently re-named X — sharing a loved-up picture of her and the “Love Actually” star.

“Very happy to share that after two years of dating, Thomas Brodie Sangster and I are engaged!” the 37-year-old actress wrote.

The announcement was met with lots of well wishes, including from Riley’s ex-husband.

New Delhi, July 24 (Ians) Kamaljeet helped India pick up two more gold medals on the final day of the International Shooting Sport Federation (Issf) World Championship Juniors in Changwon, South Korea, as India won both in the Men’s 50m Pistol individual and team events respectively.

The 19-year-old Kamaljeet won gold in Men’s 50m Pistol individual and then helped India claim gold in the Team event too.

India thus finished second behind China with a total of 17 medals, including six gold, six silver and five bronze medals. China won 28 medals, including 12 gold.

Talks between the U.S. actors union SAG-AFTRA and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers have broken down, and it’s expected that SAG will vote to go on strike today, joining the Writers Guild, which has already been on strike for more than two months now. The writers strike has shut down multiple productions, and any projects that are still in production may soon have to shut down or find a way to work around the fact that SAG actors won’t be reporting to set until the strike is over. Hulu is removing several more shows from its service to cut costs. Recently cancelled ABC shows Alaska Daily and The Company You Keep are being removed, per Deadline. In the future, other alphabet network shows cancelled after one season will be dealt with similarly.

Other licensed series being dropped by the streaming service include Angie Tribeca, Blindspot, The Detour, and The Last Ship. Last month, Hulu removed shows like Y: The Last Man, Dollface, The Hot Zone, Maggie, Pistol, and Little Demon.

The removals are part of cost-cutting measures by Disney, which runs the streaming service. Many of the series had deals to remain on Hulu until 2024 and beyond.

Following the cancellations of ABC’s “Alaska Daily” and “The Company You Keep” in May, both series are being pulled off Hulu as part of Disney’s ongoing review and removal of content in an effort to cut costs.

The shows, which were initially set to remain on the streamer until September, will now be removed next month. However, they will still be available through iTunes and Amazon.

Other impacted shows include the Rashida Jones comedy “Angie Tribeca,” NBC’s “Blindspot,” Samantha Bee and Jason Jones’ “The Detour” and TNT’s “The Last Ship,” which will be removed on July 1.

Disney made it official with an SEC filing after the markets closed Friday, confirming it would take $1.5 billion in write-downs associated with removing streaming programming from its platforms.

The number came in on the low end of a range provided by the company last month when it released its quarterly earnings. (Read the new filing Here.) From Paul Lee’s perspective, the streaming boom that led Hollywood to binge on original content has evolved significantly during his half-dozen years as CEO of production company Wiip.

Over the past year, the industry has been through “a moment where the streaming revolution went from a land grab to ‘This land needs to be fertile,’ ” Lee says on the latest episode of Variety podcast “Strictly Business.”
