Over the course of a decade and ten appearances in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Robert Downey Jr. has reportedly earned between $500 million and $600 million across seven Marvel blockbusters and three high-priced cameos (per Variety). And now, he’s about to earn significantly more than $80 million to swap out his arc reactor and step into a villain’s armor, as Doctor Doom.
Yes, the actor who breathed life into Tony Stark, who gave the MCU its emotional core and commercial fuel, is set to return in Avengers: Doomsday (2026) and Avengers: Secret Wars (2027): this time as Marvel’s infamous antagonist Victor Von Doom.
This casting move, announced at Cinema-Con and later confirmed at San Diego Comic-Con 2024, ignited a civil war of its own among fans. While many welcomed Downey’s return, others criticized Marvel’s decision to cast the same actor in a new role after killing off Iron Man in Avengers: Endgame.

Hulu is developing an original crime drama series from Eliza Clark with Media Res producing, Variety has learned.
Titled “Durango,” the official description of the series states:
“‘Durango’ is the story of two Gen Z nobodies, Bunny and Mikey, one a down-and-out waitress, the other a washed up ski-bum, whose lives are placed in peril after they impulsively grab a pile of money from Mikey’s ex (fake) wife, and her current (real) Russian gangster lover. A Bonnie and Clyde for the TikTok generation, ‘Durango’ is a look at love, crime, domesticity, conspiracy and passion through the lens of two young rebels who decide they aren’t going to settle for the disappointing existence life has gifted them.”

In the late 2000s and 2010s, AMC began to make a name for itself as a network that produced amazing dramas. Beginning with the premiere of Mad Men in 2007 and following, a year later, with the launch of Breaking Bad, AMC aired some of the best shows of the era that are still celebrated today. During this same period, the network also launched another dramatic series that had the potential to rival its other great shows. Regrettably, the spy thriller Rubicon only got a single season and was quickly forgotten. While it never achieved the success of its AMC peers, this drama is still a remarkable show and one of the best spy stories of all time.
Reviews may have been mixed, and it was clearly overshadowed by the more established dramas already running on the network, but Rubicon gained recognition at the time for its brilliant writing, moving performances,...

This article contains spoilers for The Empress season 2.
While Netflix's The Empress season 2 does a good job of telling Empress Elisabeth of Austria's story, the show does include a few historical inaccuracies. The Empress, based on the real history of Elisabeth von Wittelsbach, chronicles her early adulthood years, mainly centering on her marriage to Franz Joseph I and her struggles at the Viennese Court. The Empress is one of the best non-English language shows on Netflix and is popular with both critics and audiences.
Given that The Empress and many of its cast of characters are based on real people, there's an expectation that the show runners will have to get every historical detail right. However, the changes that were made to Elisabeth's story helped the show become more entertaining because it perfectly combined fact and fiction. It is worth noting that overall, The Empress depicted Elisabeth’s life...

Despite having some of the most successful games of recent years as industry icons, not all their games are as perfect as fans might think. Even though they have won Game of the Year twice with Elden Ring and Sekiro, some people believe FromSoftware has made terrible games.
A user on X criticized Armored Core 6 Fires of Rubicon for not being the studio’s best game and for being quite mediocre. This user even went so far as to criticize certain YouTubers for defending this game, despite it not being as excellent compared to other titles.
Despite Having Games Like Sekiro and Elden Ring, Fromsoftware Is Not a Perfect Studio

This Star Trek: Discovery article contains spoilers.
Since its inception in 2017, Star Trek: Discovery has been compared to various aspects of the Star Trek franchise. But, perhaps the show it most closely resembles, at least tonally, is Deep Space Nine, the gritty ‘90s spin-off of The Next Generation. And, with its fifth and final season, it feels like Discovery knows it’s the Deep Space Nine of modern Trek, and has leaned into that feeling more than ever.
The series has also taken on the mantle of being the new DS9 by simply making a ton of references to that series, as well as continuing huge storylines from that series. In the 7th episode of season 5, “Erigah,” Discovery makes a ton of references to the breadth of the Trek canon, with a specific focus on DS9. Here’s all the best easter eggs and shout-outs you might have missed.

Ed Maverick is making the saddest song on Peso Pluma’s Génesis even sadder. On Thursday, the Mexican indie singer-songwriter released a cover of “Lagunas,” Peso’s track with Jasiel Nuñez about forcing himself to stay away from someone he loves so that he can heal.
“Perhaps in another galaxy things were different,” sings Maverick in his distinct melancholic voice. “Perhaps there we’d have what we always had wanted.”
“Lagunas” was the second-to-last track on Génesis and hears Peso and Nuñez introspecting following the conclusion of a relationship backed by soft guitars and requinto.

Johnny Marr teamed up with a 30-piece orchestra for the first of a two-night homecoming run in Manchester, England.
Across a 16-song setlist, the British guitar icon reimagined songs from his solo repertoire along with classics from The Smiths and his dance project with Bernard Sumner, Electronic. Highlights included “How Soon Is Now?,” “Easy Money,” and, of course, “There Is a Light That Never Goes Out,” during which Marr paid tribute to his late Smiths bandmate, Andy Rourke, who died this past May.
Speaking about the experience, Marr said that he couldn’t “help feeling a little bit emotional” hearing his songs receive symphonic treatment. “I’ve had two experiences of playing with an orchestra — Hans Zimmer, obviously, and also with Pet Shop Boys — but to actually sing in front of an orchestra playing my own work, that’s a first,” he said (per NME). “It’s been really enjoyable working on the arrangements.

Joel Edgerton Coaches An Underdog Rowing Team in George Clooney’s ‘Boys in the Boat’ Trailer (Video)
When money, food and shelter were in short supply, joining a rowing team was a matter of life and death. That’s the hook in George Clooney’s latest directorial effort, “The Boys in the Boat.”
Based on Daniel James Brown’s non-fiction novel, the picture concerns the 1936 University of Washington rowing team that competed at the Summer Olympics in Berlin. The trailer hits all the underdog sports team cliches, although cliches become as much for a reason. The picture looks handsomely staged and impeccably acted by the likes of Joel Edgerton and Callum Turner.
This marks Clooney’s first directorial effort since the Ben Affleck-starring “The Tender Bar” in 2021. It’s unquestionably a sign of the times that Clooney hasn’t directed a feature for a theatrically focused studio since “Rubicon” for Paramount in late 2017.
To be fair, Amazon and MGM Studios will give this Spyglass/Smokehouse feature...

In the late 20th century, a system of categorizing personalities into “Type A” and “Type B” gained mainstream pop-psychological traction. The theory may have since fallen out of favor, but sometimes it’s hard not to be reminded of it, like when watching Selman Nacar’s sober, stressful second feature, “Hesitation Wound.” Defense attorney Canan is competitive, status-conscious, ambitious and impatient to the point of work addiction. In other words, she’s the Type A-est Type A to ever have had a very hard day.
Nacar, who studied law himself, has written a screenplay that piles incident on incident, and moral quandary on moral quandary, each bumping into the rear of the next like a knock-on collision in rush hour traffic. But he directs with a spontaneity that means the drama never seems contrived, especially as conveyed in the considered realism of Tudor Panduru’s cinematography. Panduru, who has been...

Armored Core 6's high level of customization is a standout feature, with players creating custom-made mech designs inspired by various franchises or real-life objects. The custom creations in Armored Core 6 range from impressive renditions of popular anime to real-life machinery.
One of the main reasons people praise the new mech game Armored Core 6 Fires of Rubicon is because of the game's intense level of customization. While most are busy with high-octane combat and gameplay, others are spending an inordinate amount of time in the custom mech builder. Mech builds that revolve around Energy Weapons in Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon fire lasers and plasma at their enemies to deal some of the best, consistent damage in the game. You can unlock energy weapons in the Parts Shop and other equipment by completing select missions. The strongest energy-based tools have high attack power, decent impact damage, and sometimes even multiple abilities.
Any energy weapon in Armored Core 6 may be purchased from the Part Shop in exchange for Coam, the main currency you earn from beating missions. One of the easiest ways to gain money is to replay missions that take little time to beat. As you get closer and closer to beating this mech-building action game, more missions and Arena matches will open up as sources to farm plenty of Coam.

Strider is the name of a mobile mining facility that acts as a massive boss fight to beat in the first Chapter of Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon. Your mission here revolves around the central weapon of the Strider, a giant laser cannon known as "The Eye." Approaching this boss can be just as challenging as fighting it, with your mech having to hover and fly around the facility to find tactical weak spots.
Before you even reach the Strider, its Eye fires a volley of rockets and a huge laser as you get closer and closer, forcing you to dodge shots as you move forward. Consider customizing your mech with strong flight capabilities or quick movements using the Assembly parts available. This will help you avoid the Strider's attacks as you get close to Armored Core 6's main boss fight.

The end of mission 8 in Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon puts your mech in a boss fight against the Ha-t-102 Juggernaut, a heavy mobile artillery platform you must beat. In the climax of "Operation Wallclimber," the build you bring into this battle may already be damaged from trying to finish other objectives. However, with a friendly mech helping you through part of this boss, you have a good chance to take down the Juggernaut.
When you first encounter the Juggernaut, you will have the ally mech V.IV Rusty at your side until the boss reaches about half health. After this point, Rusty will have to leave to intercept enemy forces that would overwhelm the two of you if they reach the area. This brief moment of co-op in Armored Core 6 gives you a chance to recognize what attacks work best against the artillery platform and the weapons at the boss' disposal.

Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon is exactly the kind of game series fans have waited over a decade for. Anyone worried about FromSoftware losing sight of what made Armored Core great after the past 11 years of Soulslikes can rest easy - from the massive mech battles, extensive garage options, and 1v1 Arena fights all the way down to the searing disrespect for late-stage capitalism, Armored Core 6 delivers.
The first and most obvious upgrade is the control scheme. Armored Core has had a long history of varying degrees of bad mech controls, and thankfully AC6 does away with most of the more unpredictable and uncomfortable button map choices in lieu of ones which feels surprisingly intuitive. L1 and L2 control the left shoulder and left arm, and R1 and R2 do the same for the right side.

As Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine returns for the MCU’s forthcoming Deadpool 3, other X-Men alumni are ripe for a comeback no one is asking for
Nobody knows quite how Deadpool ended up in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Or rather Everyone knows how the merc with a mouth made it to Marvel on a corporate level – Disney bought 20th Century Fox – but we are yet to find out how the writing room crew are going to wrestle this one out in creative terms. Does Ryan Reynolds’s mischievous hero simply arrive fully formed from an alternate reality where everyone swears a lot more than they did in Thor: Ragnarok, and there is considerably more nudity, breaking of the fourth wall and hardcore violence? Will our chimichanga-munching antihero be forced to tone it all down a bit in the forthcoming Deadpool 3 alongside the returning Hugh Jackman as Wolverine? Or will...

Focusing on the wealthy Hornsby family and their efforts to keep their cracker conglomerate open, Royal Crackers charts the awkward, bizarre, and surprisingly heartfelt relationship between the put-upon Stebe (Jason Ruiz), his ambitious wife Deb (Jessica St. Clair), his nu-metal dirtbag brother Theo (Andrew Santino), and his soft-spoken and sweet-natured son Matt (Maile Flanagan). Alongside their board of directors -- and a few lingering manipulations from Stebe's now largely comatose father -- the Hornsby family is just as likely to burn the whole business down as they are to save it.
The series takes a Succession-style concept and gives it some of that anarchic energy Adult Swim is known for, all hiding a surprisingly strong emotional throughline about a flawed but enduring family's efforts to chart their future. During an interview with Cbr, Royal Crackers Creator and star Jason Ruiz breaks down the biggest surprises he discovered across the show's first season,...

Hollywood star Tom Hanks feels that not every film he did was great. In an interview published with The New Yorker, Hanks said: “Let’s admit this: We all have seen movies that we hate. I have been in some movies that I hate. You have seen some of my movies and you hate them.”
Hanks was speaking on how a film should be judged. Instant reactions are common, he noted, reports deadline.com.
“Someone is going to say, ‘I hated it.’ Other people can say, ‘I think it’s brilliant.’ Somewhere in between the two is what the movie actually is,” he said, referring to it as “Rubicon No. 3.”
“The commercial performance of the film,” Hanks said, is the fourth Rubicon, “because, if it does not make money, your career will be toast sooner than you want it to be. That’s just the fact.”
And the fifth and final Rubicon is time.

Tom Hanks doesn't like all of his movies; in fact, he admittedly hates some of them. In a discussion with The New Yorker, published on May 28, the Oscar winner got honest about filmmaking and how sometimes movies that have the potential to turn out good end up being total flops.
"Ok, let's admit this: We all have seen movies that we hate," Hanks said. "I have been in some movies that I hate. You have seen some of my movies and you hate them." He then laid out five "points of the Rubicon" that all moviemakers pass through when creating and releasing a project that indicate how it'll be received.
"The first Rubicon you cross is saying yes to the film," he explained. "Your fate is sealed. You are going to be in that movie. The second Rubicon is when you actually see the movie that you made. It either...

Not even Tom Hanks loves every Tom Hanks movie. And he knows you don’t either. The two-time Oscar winner recently participated in a lengthy discussion with The New Yorker (via IndieWire) and got honest about the different factors that are at play when it comes to his experiences with his own movies.
“Ok, let’s admit this: We all have seen movies that we hate,” Hanks said. “I have been in some movies that I hate. You have seen some of my movies and you hate them.”

Tom Hanks says that he hates some of his own films in a new interview. Hanks’s career to date has spanned over four decades. In that time, he has acted in everything from hard-hitting Oscar dramas like Captain Phillips and Bridge of Spies to goofy films like Joe Versus the Volcano and Big. Hanks is widely considered one of the most lovable actors working today.
Despite his acclaim, Hanks admits his loathing for some of his own films in an interview with The New Yorker. Hanks outlined five major “points of the Rubicon that are crossed by anyone who makes movies.” These are, Hanks said: saying yes to the film, seeing the movie that you made, the critical reaction to the film, the commercial performance of the film, and time. To the last point, Hanks pitted American classic It’s a Wonderful Life against his film, That Thing You Do!

Hasan Minhaj is open to the idea of hosting “The Daily Show” — but it’s not a decision he would make alone. “That’s a family conversation now,” Minhaj tells Variety’s Awards Circuit Podcast. “It’s a very different conversation then when I first got hired at the show, when I was 29. My life is in a very different place. And so that’s a bigger convo.”
Minhaj’s recent Netflix stand-up special, “The King’s Jester,” includes a deeply personal look by the comedian at the evolution of his family, from being infertile to eventually raising two children with his life — and how that has changed a lot of things in his life, including his career choices and his on-stage routines.

DC has a lot riding on next month’s big cinema release. The Flash, led by Ezra Miller, has sped a rough road to the big screen, but against a backdrop of real world controversy and a highly publicised last-gasp changing of the DC guard, the film will land in a few weeks’ time. But that’s not the only reason it’s one of the most anticipated films of the summer.
The character itself is one of DC’s finest, familiar to fans on both big and small screens. Leading his own Dceu film was always on the cards, and when you look at ExpressVPN’s guide to The Flash, you can get an idea of the storied history of the Scarlet Speedster and learn some fun new facts. For example, I was utterly unaware of his trio of companions in the ’40s called The Three Dimwits. Now I know they exist,...

The end of May traditionally also means that fall TV shows are gearing up to end their season finales. But that tradition hails from a time when TV seasons were nearly 30 episodes in length, and spanned from their premieres in early September all the way through late spring.
Streaming has changed essentially everything about that schedule. Although new TV shows are still traditionally released in the fall, streaming has no set calendar, and new titles release whenever studio executives see a lull in their calendar. Coincidentally, there are a couple of big-name streaming shows that will air their season (and series) finales this week, even though their premiere episodes aired not last September, but earlier this spring. Check them out below, along with all the other fantastic titles coming to streaming this week!

Excitement is ramping up for FromSoftware’s newest title, Armored Core 6 Fires of Rubicon, with news of an official release date, a gameplay trailer, and more. Since its announcement in December 2022, few details about the game had been revealed, leaving the door open to plenty of speculation. Now, Armored Core 6 is making a splash with a deluge of info just a few short months away from launch.
Armored Core 6 was announced during The Game Awards. It’s been quite a while since the last release in the series, with the previous game having been released just about a decade ago. So the reveal trailer was a bit of a surprise, especially since many FromSoftware fans expected an announcement for Elden Ring Dlc. Hulu has given a series order to The Other Black Girl, an adaptation of Zakiya Dalila Harris’ novel of the same name.
The series will be executive produced by Tara Duncan, the former Netflix exec who struck an overall deal with Hulu in 2020 and who is now president of Freeform. Other EPs are Rashida Jones, Marty Bowen, Wyck Godfrey, Adam Fishbach, Zakiya Dalila Harris, and Danielle Henderson, who will showrun.
It’s from Onyx Collective.
The series follows Nella, an editorial assistant, who is tired of being the only black girl at her company, so she’s excited when Hazel is hired. But as Hazel’s star begins to rise, Nella spirals out and discovers something sinister is going on at the company.
The book was published by Atria/Simon & Schuster last year. The Other Black Girl is based on Harris’ time working at the Penguin Random House-owned publisher.

Opening in theaters and VOD July 1 comes the new film Rubikon from director Leni Lauritsch.
A toxic cloud of pollution has swallowed the earth, killing untold numbers. The world’s nations have dissolved, with all power now in the hands of giant corporations. The rich retreat to sealed biodomes while the poor choke and starve. On the space station Rubikon, Hannah (Julia Franz Richter), Gavin (George Blagden), and Dimitri (Mark Ivanir) weigh the fate of the planet’s survivors. Should these crewmembers risk their own lives on a rescue mission to the surface, or ignore the old world to build a new one of safety and solitude, living off the station’s sophisticated algae symbiosis system? Against the vast canvas of the cosmos, three people with different worldviews debate their moral responsibility to the species, all while grappling with the timely agony of isolation.
