Rlje Films, a business unit of AMC Networks, has picked up select rights to The Dead Lands from Shudder, AMC Networks’ streaming service for horror. The Dead Lands will be released on Digital HD on June 8, 2020. Check out this terrifying trailer:

Exclusive: British drama producer Slim Film + Television has teamed with Luther creator Neil Cross’ New Zealand-based production company on an adaptation of Stacy Gregg’s Pony Club Secrets books.

Slim Film + Television, run by former Kudos Managing Director Simon Crawford Collins, has partnered with Libertine Pictures, which is behind Rose McIver-fronted feature Daffodils, on 13-part series Mystic for the BBC’s Cbbc, Australia’s Seven and New Zealand’s Tvnz.

Amazon Studios has released the trailer for its upcoming documentary series “American Playboy: The Hugh Hefner Story.” The 10-episode docuseries makes use of more than 17,000 hours of footage and over 2,600 scrapbooks from Hefner’s personal archives, documenting his life, the history behind the empire he created and his impact on global culture.

The hybrid docuseries includes cinematic re-enactments of events that took place in the life of Playboy’s founder. New Zealand actor Matt Whelan (“Go Girls,” “3 Mile Limit”) plays a young Hefner in the series directed by Emmy-nominated cinematographer Richard Lopez (“Roman Empire: Reign of Blood”). “I’m Hugh Hefner. You might think you know all about me — the magazine, the mansions, the parties, the women — but you don’t know the half of it,” says a voiceover at the beginning of the trailer.

The Nine Network is channelling tens of millions of dollars freed up from the end of its output deal with Warner Bros. into a record investment in local content.

Spending on local production will continue to rise over the next three years to the point where the network invests $100 million more per year than currently, executives said at the upfronts presentation today.

While Nine retains the first-run rights to The Big Bang Theory, director of programming and production Andrew Backwell said the broadcaster decided to relinquish the re-runs (subsequently acquired by Seven) because it preferred to spend the money on local content.

The 2016 line-up includes the Matchbox Pictures drama Hide & Seek, Cjz.s previously announced two-part Alan Bond miniseries House of Bond and a new factual series, Prison: First & Last 24 Hours.

According to Deadline, Joe Naufahu (Spartacus: Vengeance, The Last Saint, The Kick, Go Girls) has booked a recurring gig on season 6 of Game O Thrones. The site doesn't have any specifics on who he'll be playing, but there's a decent chance he's been cast in one of the new Dothraki roles. In the season 5 finale, Dany find herself surrounded by a khalasar so there's bound to be a few characters from that group emerging as more prominent players. Could Naufahu be Khal Jhaqo, perhaps? Jay Ryan, who most recently appeared in the Fox series "Terra Nova," will star opposite "Smallville's" Kristin Kreuk in the pilot, which will follow in the footsteps of "90210" and the short-lived "Melrose Place" as nostalgic remakes of 1980s shows on the netlet. Ryan, 30, played Curran in "Terra Nova," a soldier who went bad and was banished from the Terra Nova camp. He appeared in three episodes of the series. The Powers That Be behind The CW's "Beauty and the Beast" pilot have finally found their beast. Thirty-one-year-old Jay Ryan, a New Zealand-based actor known in the U.S. for small roles on "Terra Nova" and "Legend of the Seeker," will play Vincent Koslow. Koslow, the victim of a military experiment gone horribly wrong, now looks like a monster.

His "beauty," Catherine, is set to be played by "Smallville" girl-next-door Kristin Kreuk. Catherine witnessed her mother's murder nine years ago, but remembers that the murderer was killed by a Beast quickly after.
