I was very pleasantly surprised.
It introduced a couple good side characters. But it was mainly the ricky, julien and bubbles show.
The prison aspect for something new was good. Much better than their attempts at doing recorded live shows n such. I never got into them.
It's a solid 7.5 and compared to most crap comedies out these days its a 10/10.
It took me 4 eps to start really getting into it.
Not sure why some other reviewers somehow expect this to be like earlier seasons... The series isn't as good as it was then and probably never will be, but for the most part its still decent and sometimes just as classic as the old ones for some moments. Try being a little more open minded and compare what the boys are still doing with the majority of crud being produced now.

Let's be honest, this show is not as good as the original series. But it is 10 times better than the animated series. I am still laughing constantly, and I think they did a good job.

This series isn't supposed to be a contest with the other shows put the boys have done in the past.
The fact is, they've done a new angle on a part of their character's lives that deserves to be examined. Is it perfect? No, but I don't think it needs to be. All of the shows took a little bit of time to warm up to. It's not exactly mainstream humour. But it does fall into the genre of TPB acting of the past with a very new and refreshing twist. I imagine there will be some who will whine about this and that. How it's not yet another trailer park season. Look to the animated series for that. You can't please everyone all of the time but I'll tell ya, these guys know how to make ME laugh. Give it a chance. Orrrrrr just f@@k off. Lol.

The boys continue their reign of Canadian stoner comedy glory from behind bars in their most recent series. I love everything about this. So many huge laughs and some heart as well. All the performances are still on point. All the people they got back are awesome. Randy, Alex, Corey and Jacob, Tyrone, all get great moments to shine. The writing is brilliant. Bruce McCullough directs with a perfect balance of focus and sillyness. Dave Lawrence from Fubar is awesome to see here. The guards are hilarious. But of course it's all about the insane hijnks the boys get up to behind bars. I can't wait to see what they get up to in season two. This show is much better than the majority of their Netflix episodes. Jaw droppingly funny and wonderfully ridiculous! Enjoy and puff puff pass.

After much lame but fun redundant crappiness done ala greazzzzy, This series was great!!!! As great as the boys are and they've done mucho great stuff. I will always support their works. Jail! Just resets them and repositions their advance NEW trajectory. Love y'all...Freddy Herrmann. PS. I love Canada.

Hillarious... As a TPB fan I would say even thought it doesn't match the previous series because of many missing supporting cast members, it still was very funny. The most funniest part of this series was on occasions when we could hear Bubbles crying all of sudden out of nowhere.

Lazily written and poorly acted, Trailer Park Boys JAIL is such a poor relation to the high points of this franchise the boys are at risk trampling their legacy.
Within the TPB universe there were serious concerns about the ability of the show to truck on after the passing of John Dunsworth, given that he did most of the heavy lifting in the acting department. In his absence, JAIL, which is the first series in many years not on Netflix (appearing on their own streaming service Swearnet) has relocated the boys from the Park to the Prison but the lack of interesting supporting characters (the show always thrived with the likes of JRoc, Lahey and Randy and Barb) really shines a light on the inability of Wells and Tremblant as Ricky and Julian to carry the franchise on their own.
Rush's Alex Lifeson and Terry from FUBAR (David Lawrence) try hard and have a couple of funny moments but overall you can see why Netflix weren't interested.

This show sucks, Netflix had every right to pass this up. This is the most boring show I've ever seen in my life.

OK, so I realized from the get-go that it was NEVER going to be as good as the original. Let's face it, we've moved on and dope is now legal so dope humour is not as relevant or amusing as it once was.
Never mind that though, let me move on to the REAL problems with this 'new' series.
Julian is SERIOUSLY a porker....no nice way to say it and he has trouble just waddling from scene to scene , never mind participating in any TPB antics.
Ricky, well he looks like 80'S used car salesman on a weekend pass to Florida.
Bubbles......loveable Bubbles looks like a tired old man just trying to cash in on the good old days.
Worst of all, worse even than this aging, crippled, tubby gang gangsta wannabeess, is the UNFORGIVABLY bad acting.
Seriously, have they all forgotten what acting is all about?
You're supposed to make me believe in you, not pity you like a stuttering high school actor first night in front of the audience.
At best this is for those fans who are most likely NOT the original fans, but more likely fans of the cartoon series. At least the acting is on a par with that.
SAD.

What made TPB great was about serving the dish, while keeping all characters in the right dosage. Little bit of randy, a sparkle of Lucy, a few shots of Mr. Lahey, throw some Sam lasco in, some Phil colins, some ray, teaspoons of jayrok and t, mix some Sarah moment, caesar bits, and mix it with lot of Juliann, Richie , and bubbles, compare to that this dish has all the main ingredients , but kind of tasteless and lame. It look also like they run after ideas after few episode, and just improvised something for the rest. I don't know if that's the reason it is not on Netflix, because there are worst stuff showing there. I suspect the main reason was the luck of diversity , and no women, unlike in previews seasons (its mostly white men series).
