***Thank God Movie Review*** 3/5 ⭐
Directed by Indra Kumar starring Ajay Devgn Rakul Preet Siddharth P Malhotra in lead role.
An official remake of the Danish Film " Sorte Kugler"
Plot of The Movie...
Ayan Kapoor alias Siddharth is a well known real estate broker. Post demonetization, his empire started to fall and he became a huge debtor. In the process of his hustle bustle life to overcome his financial crisis, he met with an accident and when his eyes open he is with Chitragupta alias CG alias Ajay Devgn.
There he plays the game of life wherein time tells whether he will go back to planet earth or go to hell or heaven forever...
Analysis of the Movie
1) The plot which is taken by Indra Kumar, is a topic which is age old belief that as per the karma, a human will be going to heaven or hell. Here in a comic way, he executed the age old topic.
2) Writers Aakash Kaushik, Madhur Sharma had just refined this concept as per the modern way wherein Chitragupta will be seen in a black blazer with a salt and pepper beard look. A game show, giving the contestant a chance to redeem their sins.
3) The subplot through the form of game show, a sizzling item dance of Nora Fatehi leads the way to the main plot wherein at the end, how the changes happens in Ayan's life.
4) Coming to the performance, Siddharth Malhotra had bringed up the character of Ayan who is self centred, envy. A grey shade but many comic moments delivered
5) Ajay Devgn, I cannot able to witness some noteworthy performance except from his salt and pepper beard look.
6) Rakul had done a good job.
7) Music was ok
8) Aseem Bajaj cinematography was good enough to watch it on big screen.
9) Vfx at unnecessary places.
Overall, its just reminds me of the Kal ho na Ho title song " Har ghadi badal rahi hein roop zindagi, chav hein kahhi hai dhoop zindagi, har pal yaha jee bhar jeeyo, jo hai sama , kal ho na ho "

I never expected Thank God to be a great film and it is not. In fact , it is a very shallow level film with many flaws . Yet i felt it was a nice feel good film with good lessons learning journey.
The lessons it teaches us are very basic ones and one that every one from your family can easily resonate with. Also, it gives these lessons in very interesting ways... how? ...So basically, in Siddharth (named Ayaan in film) is a greedy small minded person who meets with an accident and is up in heaven in front of CG apparantly Chitragupta and Yamdoot who give him one last chance to redeem himself in order for him to survive. CG (Ajay Devgn) connects various events in Sids life in a very surprise reveal or twisty style to give him life lessons and this is what I found really interesting.
In fact there is one final twist at the end which maybe predictable for many but still was quite interestingly blended with the film. The game show like screenplay makes sure i was always invested in the film with no boring moments.
Ajay Devgn is another big positive about this film. His call and often swaggy nature made his parts extremely interesting.
These above factors make the film very much watchable but of course i said its not a great film.
Siddharth Malhotra after a terrific Shershaah falls flat in this film. "Thank God" Ajay Devgn was there in this film otherwise it would have been a bigger washout . Sid is hammy. He can't crack jokes properly. He is still not a very polished actor.
VFX is often not good but that's all you can expect from a film with not very high budget.
Indra Kumar, the Dhamaal / Masti man, is still not very matured as a director. His direction and treatment still feels stuck in the early 2000s but atleast this time he didn't make a cringy film. His films are well known for comedy but that's exactly what went missing in the film. Whatever comedy was there in the film was already shown in the trailer (in fact i would say the entire first half was shown in the trailer) and it barely works in the film . However, if one notes Indra Kumar's interview, he himself claimed he did not make this film as an out an out comedy but atleast whatever was there should have worked but sadly it doesn't.
Songs..umm..nah forget them. Maybe that Dil De Diya is something i love till now.
Overall, i am sure critics will bash this film and such films don't deserve to be watched with critical eyes. These are "just chill and enjoy" type of films. Also, it's not an out and out comedy so don't go in expecting a lol ride, it's actually more of a emotional life lesson / moral story kind of film. Last but not the least, what i liked was that it kept the lessons short and simple and not like some 15 mins speech that many Ayushman Khurrana films have. All lessons are given in just 30 secs and some of it is quite impactful.

I would start with the movie really diggs deep into the way we portray ourselves.
Instead of pleasing one another we keep on trying to please god.
I think it was the beauty of this movie.
Very well acted and funny at the right time.
Ajay looked cool and acted well.
Sidhart did well as well.
The girl looked and acted well.
The kid was cute.
Songs was just about okey.
Cgi was okey for the plot of the movie.
But the feeling the move gave was the maine purpose, and it was well achieved.
The message the movie gives, is way better than what I expected The world is becoming more bitter and materialistic.

Loved sid malhotra's acting.... Ajay devgan was as always good.... Movie is a family movie and entertaining... Everyone should watch it with family.... A family packed movie.... People will have fun watching it... Ajay devgan and sid malhotra combination was a bang.... 😌
Sid malhotra has improved a lot for sure.... After shershah this is a good movie... Sid is in the well path of choosing movies now... Ajay devgan was a perfect choice for the role... And nora fatehi and sid manike song was go good to watch on theatre... People were clapping when that song came to screen.... If you love family entertaining movies gi watch it...
The concept of this movie has been used in several Indian movies over decades. A person is hanging between life and death, goes to afterlife / heaven / hell and is allowed to revisit earth or his former life. To this, another common concept of a bad person realizing the effect of his actions on others and therefore repenting and making good of all his mistakes is added.
Movies of this sort are comedies with emotional moments in between. Here, the lead actor who is present in all scenes lacks capacity to act in comic scenes. To add to our woes, the comedy scenes are not that good themselves. Generally when the hero does not know how to act in a comedy, a side character like Brahmanandam, Johnny Lever or Rajpal Yadav is added to entertain the movie viewers. Emotional scenes are okayish but they are also let down by the hero. More role should have been given to other actors like hero's mother and Kanwaljeet Singh. Replace Siddarth Malhotra with Old Govinda and imagine the result.
Not recommended.
