Concerns from MeTV viewers about the Baby Boomer nostalgia network running a "kiddie" cartoon show, or worries that the cartoon classics would be censored and sanitized for younger audiences, were laid to rest with this first installment, which featured the oft-censored scene in Beanstalk Bunny (1955) of Elmer Fudd lighting a cigarette, as well as the more adult-friendly, libidinous cartoon stylings of Tex Avery in Le petit chaperon rural (1949). Furthermore, animation purists would have been pleased to see that the original 1.37:1 aspect ratios for the older cartoons were preserved within the show's widescreen frame (unlike MeTV's "Saturday Morning Cartoons" presentations, which debuted days earlier and applied a slight crop to the images to approximate a format better-suited for widescreen TVs).
