The child actors are really good. It reminds me of the book Mexikid. The little boy is adorable in this movie. Road trip movies are always fun. Chupa on netflix is another fun Mexican family movie. This is a light family comedy. Enjoyable. The man who plays the dad is a great Mexican actor who was also in the Flamin hot cheeto documentary which is amazing you should watch it too. This movie is very entertaining to watch. I keep hitting submit review and I keeps saying I have to write more. 103 more characters it says now I'm not Roger eEbert here like seriously fun family movie ok lol fun grandpa in it.
It was pretty bad. Poor cinematography, shots were obviously shot in a studio. It got pretty boring pretty quickly. Disney Channel movies from the 2000s were much better than this. The plot was pretty pointless. It tried to be funny without delivering. There's a reason Disney stopped promoting it the week it came out and now has to be searched for on Disney+. It seems the 10/10 review were written by those who worked on the film as this is the 21st review written. The production was pretty low. For family movie night I should've just picked The Goofy Movie for the 30th anniversary because Disney has been missing on good movies this year. Hopefully Lilo & Stitch can right the ship. We switched it off halfway through to watch something actually entertaining.
Seemed like a cool concept for a movie and was hoping it was going to be good. Unfortunately it was slow, lame, uninteresting and had terrible acting. The directing and AI screen writing sucked as well, why not let a human do that? After a half hour the movie went nowhere and was not interesting. It had so much potential and Disney ruined it. The weird Sci-Fi RV part of it made it way too weird and not make sense. Meet the Millers was 10x better than this. I'm not sure why they couldn't pre-screen this movie before releasing it, a seven year old would've told them it was lame. Oh well, another 1 star movie next to Snow White.
This movie had the potential to give a new take on the family road-trip troupe. However, whether being produced by Disney or held back by a pg rating, it's just never funny and chokes at every badly comedic moment. If your are looking for a funny rv trip, We're the Millers or RV will be better choices for you. I will say, it was nice to see Eva back on camera though.
Here's the synopsis of the film (aka I'm trying to fill character requirements): the story follows a Mexican-American family who goes on a roadtrip to Mexico to reconnect with their family roots, but things go horribly wrong after they discover a cursed idol.

Well, growing up on Disney, I must admit the later years Disney has released some really mediocre family movies, this one however is just even more mediocre than what I am used to. A Mexican family who live with a curse go on a trip. All boxes are checked, siblings not getting along, in laws not welcome and/ or a hassle, mom having a successful career, dad struggling. Well, we all know how it will end and this one just adds a too thick layer of everything, like exaggerating makes everything funnier, but in this case it does not. The movie is never funny, nor enjoyable. Every character is bland, even Cheech is phoning this one in. I had low expectations going in and still got disappointed. Good work Disney.
