Disney+ Is Removing a Fan-Favorite Series In 3 Days
Image
Fans had better get to binge-watching, as Disney+ confirmed one fan-favorite series would be leaving the platform in just three days. The Disney-owned streamer has been no stranger to changes in its content portfolio, with a proverbial revolving door of titles moving in and out of the platform. Over the years, fans have seen shows like Narco Wars, Wicked Tuna, and Saturdays pulled from the Disney+ library. However, rarely does it happen to a show with the pedigree of this latest content purge.

Fan-favorite series The Bear will be pulled from Disney+ on Sunday, June 22, meaning subscribers only have three more days to watch the award-winning dramedy. The Jeremy Allen White-led Hulu show is just the latest series from the Disney+ sister streamer to make the jump from one to the other, albeit for a limited time.

Disney+ US added The Bear Seasons 1-3 on Wednesday, June 18, as a free...

Disney+ Pulled 25 Shows and Isn't Too Concerned About Fan Disappointment
Image
Titles like ‘A Small Light’ and ‘Togo’ have been removed from Disney+ even as the streamer prepares to hike its subscription rates.

Disney+ is apparently feeling pretty confident about its ability to shrug off the ire of customers, these days. The service has enacted a new round of title removals, pulling more than 20 shows and movies from its catalog in its latest efforts to streamline. The removals themselves aren’t all that rare, but the response from Disney when asked about the pulled titles reveals a company that has no qualms about facing backlash from customers, despite the public relations year it’s had.

Key Details: Titles removed from Disney+ include “Hailey’s On It,” “Love & WWE: Bianca & Montez,” and more. Disney defended the decision to remove the titles, saying they represented less than 2% of its catalog. Disney+ plans are increasing in price starting Oct. 17. Sign Up Now $7.99+ / month disneyplus.

Bel Powley in A Small Light (2023)
Disney+ deletes more of its own films and TV shows to save money
Bel Powley in A Small Light (2023)
Disney has been deleting more of its self-made shows and films from the Disney+ streaming service, attracting more ‘content impairment charges’.

It’s been about 18 months since we first had to learn what the term ‘content impairment charge’ meant, as Disney spent around $2bn to delete films and TV shows from its Disney+ streaming service. These weren’t shows and movies it bought it. Rather, it was productions it made itself, but by deleting them, it could save money on ongoing residuals and such like.

Yep, it’s cheaper not to show you things long term, even if you paid for them in the first place.

Anyway, as you’ve probably gleamed from the headline to this particular piece, here we go again. We’re indebted to the WhatsOnDisneyPlus site for alerting us to another collection of productions that are being removed from Disney’s services.

Just to ice this particular cake,...

This Is The True Story Behind Netflix's Griselda Series
Image
Almost everyone knows the name of Tony Montana, the fictional drug lord immortalized by Al Pacino in the 1983 movie "Scarface," yet few know the name of Miami's real-life most notorious king, er, queenpin, Griselda Blanco Restrepo. In the late 1970s, Blanco seized control of Miami's drug trade through incredible violence, waging war on any who opposed her. This led to the "Cocaine Cowboy" wars, in which Blanco's enforcers would kill their opponents in broad daylight, sometimes in motorcycle drive-by shootings. Blanco's life story is both fascinating and terrible, full of sex, drugs, and murder, and is totally ripe for a fictionalized interpretation.

Sofia Vergara stars as Blanco in "Griselda," a six-part limited series on Netflix that tells the story of the infamous self-made billionaire, drug pusher, and multiple murderer, although the real story is even more brutal and impossible to believe than the miniseries depicts. "Griselda" was made by "Narcos...
