Not great

This was so slow. There were way too many protracted, self indulgent, pondering shots that added absolutely nothing to the mood or story. If you strip out all the naval gazing filer there is about ten minutes where things actually happen, unfortunately these things make no real sense. I can only presume there was a story and a point to it all. There was zero characterization, the dialogue was stilted and there was no narrative structure worth a damn. Just because it's an indie film doesn't mean it should be poorly written, badly realised or poorly paced. I saw a description of it that apparently compared it to wolverine, taxi driver and the matrix, believe me it has nothing in common with any of them.

So weird

I just kept watching to see if anything was going to happen. I felt that something would be there to justify the strange character standing around looking confused and worried. I didn't understand why he made a telephone call from the telephone booth with nothing to say and he hung up because he didn't want to hear what was going to be told to him.

I do have to admit that I hit fast forward a couple of times just to see if anything important happened so I could go back to view something interesting.

I just can't imagine why there were reviewers that gave it a 10. Good luck next time to all involved.

Cool film

Very impressive! More and more the genre space is filling with micro-budgeted, sci-fi horror/thrillers. Very few manage to deliver on story, character, and tone the way Lunamancer does. Definitely worth a watch!

Great Feature Directorial Debut

Terrific visuals, atmosphere, and emotional depth throughout this debut feature film, which won Best Feature at the 2021 Philip K. Dick Science Fiction Film Festival. Very excited to see where this director goes from here.

Rad scifi

Pretty rad scifi flick! It's a solid story with drama, mystery, and great characters. Made even more impressive by the fact that it was made with so few resources. True indie film making!

AN IMMERSIVE RIDE

Lunamancer swoops you up into its dreamlike, elusive world and doesn't relent as you journey with our broken hero to unravel the mystery of his sister's whereabouts and prepare for the pinnacle showdown against the archetypal, ancient-yet-of-the-present-moment, godlike, Lunamancer, who's Achilles Heel, once uncovered, leads our hero to dawn an iconic monster-slasher getup worthy to stand alongside Ripley's mecha suit in Aliens, or Ash's chainsaw arms used against the Army of Darkness, though don't be mistaken, there has never been a movie quite like Lunamancer, so this wild ride is not one to be missed.

Lunamancer: A Hidden Gem of Thoughtful Storytelling

Suspenseful Sci-Fi

Wonderful cinematography creates the dreamlike mood keeping the viewer on the edge their seat. Every shot is carefully crafted and tells a subtle yet dramatic and otherworldly tale.

You can feel the bleak grey where winter seems permanent and hope is hard to find as Isaac searches for his sister. Noah Mucci and the full cast are in sync crafting this story of of family, loss and redemption. It is remarkable how much narrative and feeling is told and expressed with such sparce, yet well placed, dialogue.

The action sequences are also well choreographed and produced....rarely seen in similarly budgeted films.

Highly recommend.
