Brian Cox To Co-Star With Kate Beckinsale In Catherine Hardwicke’s ‘Prisoner’s Daughter’

Exclusive: Succession star Brian Cox is set to join Kate Beckinsale in the Catherine Hardwicke-helmed family drama Prisoner’s Daughter, penned by Mark Bacci.

The film tells the story of a tough but proud ex-con who’s struggling to find a way to reconnect with his only daughter and grandson; once he begins an attempt at reconciliation, his violent past once again catches up to him.

“I’m excited to see Brian Cox bring his layers of toughness, vulnerability and warmth to this broken man who has one last chance to reconnect with his family. We’ll ride with Brian on Max’s twisted journey, really feeling all the excruciating pain — and small moments of joy” said Hardwicke.

Sam Okun will Produce for Sam Okun Productions, as will Marina Grasic for Oakhurst Entertainment. Robert E. Morgan, Chris Rasmussen, Guy Moshe, Jai Khanna will serve as Executive Producers. Lachlan Towle and Bill Yates will Co-Produce.

Amazon Lines Up TV Adaptation Of Sci-Fi Podcast ‘From Now’ With Richard Madden & Brian Cox Aboard As Exec Producers

Exclusive: Amazon Studios has won rights to adapt QCode sci-fi podcast series, From Now, as a TV series. Golden Globe winners Richard Madden (Game Of Thrones) and Brian Cox (Succession) will serve as executive producers.

The podcast series, which stars Cox and Madden, debuted in late December 2020 and peaked at number two overall in the Apple Podcast charts.

Madden and Cox play identical twin brothers separated by time. The story chronicles the aftermath of their historic reunion when astronaut Edward Fitz’s (Madden) spacecraft suddenly reappears in Earth’s orbit after having gone missing 35 years earlier — and Edward emerges looking the exact same age as when he left.

The podcast was created by Rhys Wakefield, who starred in season three of HBO’s True Detective and William Day Frank, who produced the 2019 comedy thriller Berserk, directed by Wakefield. The duo will adapt the series for TV.

‘The First Lady’: Pamela Adlon & Rhys Wakefield Join Showtime Anthology Series

Exclusive: Emmy winner Pamela Adlon (Better Things) and Rhys Wakefield (True Detective) are set to co-star opposite Viola Davis and Michelle Pfeiffer in The First Lady (working title), Showtime’s anthology executive produced by Davis and directed and executive produced by Susanne Bier.

Co-produced by Showtime and Lionsgate TV, The First Lady was created by Aaron Cooley. It is a revelatory reframing of American leadership, told through the lens of the women at the heart of the White House. Season 1 focuses on Eleanor Roosevelt, Betty Ford (Pfeiffer) and Michelle Obama (Davis).

Adlon will play Nancy Howe, who was Betty Ford’s trusted confidante and social secretary. The two were inseparable through thick and thin, from facing Betty’s struggle with breast cancer to turning dusty White House traditions upside down.
