The Edge of Sleep, for the first time in years; is a pure original work of art in the making by people the deserve loads of recognition. The story-telling, the Cinematography, the color grading, the sound design; all peices together to nicely. Mark Fischbach deserves the recognition for his creative talent, he amongst others are going to change the industry forever with these works of art. They executed this incredibly well. The entire series so far felt very well polished, like those older movies thay felt truly original and new to watch for the first time ever.

As a huge fan of Markiplier I went into this series with a lot of hesitation, since most youtuber made series aren't very good. I was especially hesitant because I saw that the reception on IMDb is straight 9's and 10's, which means that either this show is on the level of Breaking Bad and True Detective, or that it's being bombarded by Markiplier fan reviews. I think you can decide that for yourself. But I was still excited, since I've seen youtubers make good films before, like Talk to Me by RackaRacka (which has a 7.1 on IMDb, since people were actually being constructive towards it)
But I can't even lie at this point. Without Markiplier being the lead in the series, there would be no series.
Don't get me wrong, the concept is really interesting. There's some good practical effects, some nice looking shots, and some okay performances from the female supporting characters. This show is the type of show I like- a horror, trippy, post apocalyptic edge-of-your-seat thrill ride. But I can't just ignore how amateur the entire series is.
The main performances, the character writing, the editing, the sound design, the script is all very amateur. Like I understand what they're trying to convey with each moment, but it feels extremely forced and scripted, you are never able to actually suspend your disbelief enough to put yourself in the shoes of the characters.
The script is all over the place. One moment a character will be freaking out about how all their friends are dead, then they'll be cracking a one liner to their friend. As many people mentioned before, the script is inconsistent and important details are ignored or forgotten about from scene to scene. The editing is jarring and obviously not professional. The dialogue is cringe-inducing and super forced. The characters themselves are all one-dimensional and are insanely inconsistent with how they are feeling, to the point where it's hard to take it seriously.
It's not a bad show, like I said, there's some well-done aspects to it. I think if Markiplier wasn't the lead character, and they had a professional team to make the concept work, this could've been a 8/10, tense, mind-boggling show. Instead the potential of the interesting story is really bogged down by how amateur the show is. It's impossible to care about the events of the show or any of the characters when it's so forced and cringe-inducing.
I'm definitely interested in Markiplier's future films, especially his Iron Lung adaptation, but I really wish he, or his production team would work on getting more professional people to work with him. His concepts are amazing, but he deeply needs help executing them.

I initially started the series because of The Plan. I had doubts that it would be the tone the trailer portrayed. Even though I'm a fan of Markiplier's YouTube, I wasn't convinced he could pull off a serious tone.
I've been convinced otherwise after (accidentally) finishing the series today. The series is genuinely intriguing.
The Linda and Matteo characters are performed very well and drive the audience onward into the story with their emotions. Scenes are sometimes off-put by whale imagery, which I assume is a metaphor, as this and similar aspects related to the unexplained "illness" are just that, unexplained (as of yet). However, the story is excellent and had me on the "edge" of my seat.

I really enjoyed the edge of sleep!! I thought some parts were rushed but the story its self is amazing and I hope they continue with a season two. Maybe a longer season or longer episodes because I was able to binge this show within one night but I still gave it a 9/10 because I think most people would enjoy a show like this whether they are fans of Markiplier or not. I feel like projects like this are way better than some of the shows huge studios put out like the halo show or anything similar where it was over hyped. I do think they should of advertised the edge of sleep more because I didn't hear anything about it til the other day. I highly recommend watching this show!

I cannot believe how amazing and interesting this show is! It truly grabbed my attention from the beginning till the very end, and the story was just absloutly wild!!! I've seen so many shows in my life but this one truly felt brand new and original and I'd love to see more things like it these days! If you're hesitating to watch it, I truly suggest going for it as it's not that long, you can finish the show in a day if you truly want to xD I'm definitely gonna be rewatching it, no show made me feel the things I've felt while watching The Edge of Sleep, and that's saying something! Absloutly Loved it, 10/10!! 💕

Genuinely one of my new favorite shows, Ever. Really loved the casting, and I think everyone did an incredible job, the effects as well were wonderful. I think the performances by the actors were also incredible. Catie captured this hurting, yet resilient character. It takes a lot of energy to play that kind of character and I was very impressed. Matteo was also cast perfectly and damn did he offer some comic relief when needed. Dave killed it, as expected. But I think the real underdog was the actor for young dave, completely made me forget I was watching a show with a child actor. Most young actors take me out a show and sometimes interrupt a story line. He killed it as well!!
Watch itttt!!!

Congratulations to Mark for this series, we're really witnessing a great work from him. The pace of the series is fast, without any unnecessary scenes, giving the audience exactly what they need. The cinematography is incredibly beautiful, the sound design is on a good level, the lighting of the scenes is well within good standards, and overall, I think they've managed to create a good series. So far, the only criticism that can be made is the direction, which hasn't been able to get the best performances from the actors. That's it, I'm very curious to see what's in store for us as the series progresses.

Binged all six episodes in a couple hours. I don't really like thriller/horror films but this was really good! The story was compelling, the characters well thought out. Each episode end left you wanting to learn more.
Oh, and best of all, NO JUMPSCARES. It actually lets the horror of the reality terrify you. It's so refreshing to see something new from a new(ish) creator that doesn't fall into the tired old stereotypes and tropes.
I actually want to watch it again, knowing the ending. I think I'll find some good easter eggs or connecting points I missed the first time. If you got a couple hours and want to get spooked I definitely recommend Edge of Sleep.

I didn't enjoy it a huge huge amount by any means although I did enjoy it and the show really had it's moments and was often quite well put together, although I do have a good number of issues with it I feel that the pros outweigh them. The Plot can often be forced or questionable in a number of ways and it could be said it leaves more questions unanswered than answered by the end, however, their was some truly brilliant scenes and shots and some great conflicts. To be fair my brain was pretty on when I was watching this which I know isn't the way most people watch movies and if it was "off" I very well may have enjoyed it more, I could say a lot more about the good and the bad but I only got so much time. My personal recommendation is that you shouldn't watch it all at once (like I did), maybe watch an episode a day or a week, the reason I recommend this is because than it can linger more and have less enjoyment sucked out of it, anywho that's just me. Wonderfully well made show for a number of reasons, however, I do take issue with a number of flaws so a fair 7/10.

I mean what more can I say, this show has got to be one of the best I've watched. It was so incredibly adapted that there's so little room to find anything to complain about. Stellar acting from all of the actors, and it's wonderfully produced. Kudos to all and every person who helped make this show a reality, love you guys so much. Now i've never read the book so I can't really attest to the accuracy to the original story, but I can assure you that this is a masterpiece in its very own right. The suspense and plot and horror aspect of the show was so beautifully portrayed that I just can't express anymore how much I really loved this. I encourage anyone reading this review to stop right now and go binge the show (if you haven't already)
P. S. Watch it really late at night when you're super tired cuz it 100% adds to the depth of the show. Makes you wanna not go to sleep, which makes the acting feel 100% relatable.

The acting & writing is horrendous, pacing is wack, keep getting bored & going on my phone (never a good sign) BUT the practical effects are keeping me watching. I just zone out in all the dull, terribly acted stuff then rewind the effects scenes a few times to really enjoy them. There's some creative ideas here, visually, but the central idea isn't very original or scary - it's more for kids than adults, right?
I applaud the lack of CGI & (so far) AI effects, but I think this is getting a lot of hype just beacause the main guy is a popular YouTuber. I don't really know him but he really can't act. Seems like a nice guy though.

Really cool premise! I watched the first episode and I'm definitely going to have to binge the whole thing now. Starting off already 36 hours without sleep really ups the stakes. The characters are fun and interesting so far and I'm looking forward to seeing how they develop as the series goes on. I'm a big fan of psychological horror and eerie vibes as opposed to jumpscares and gore, and this does a great job of showing the quiet horror of a world that has stopped around you. The commercial glitching out is kinda Don't Hug Me I'm Scared reminiscent, I really like it. I'm glad I'm watching it during the day because I don't think I'll want to sleep after this !

I was incredibly impressed with the way The Edge of Sleep came to be. This was an absolutely incredible experience of psychological horror to go through. It was a perfect depiction of combining the fiction of the story with the real effects of sleep deprivation.
My only complaint is there were a few moments where I felt the acting was just a little subpar and slightly forced, however all actors/actresses were perfect in depicting their character. There were also a few moments where parts of the story felt slightly rushed, however I guess that is just to fit the narrative of the podcast.
I look forward to a season 2 and would HIGHLY recommend this to anyone who enjoys good psychological horror.

I'll be honest, I wasn't sure this show would translate well in a video medium. Of course the premise is solid, but the written text & audio versions were so good and so much can go wrong in live actio...but I really was pleasantly surprised. There are some rough edges, but overall I enjoyed it thoroughly. It stays true to the book & podcast, so if you enjoyed those you'll almost definitely enjoy the show. If you havent read/listened to either, you don't need to in order to enjoy this! I'd recommend giving it a watch if you enjoy mysteries, fast paced action, sci-fi, and general brain f***ery,

I loved the series. To be honest, I didn't know Mark directed this show. I thought it these were professionally produced TV episodes. I loved every minute, and Markiplier's acting was great. The first episode hooked me instantly. It's short enough that I recommend anyone interested in the hook to just watch the first episode and see how the plot works out. I ended up watching the entire series in one day. Thanks to the performances, I will be sure to follow through with this show if it produces more episodes. I'm very glad I decided to watch this series, and I highly recommend to anyone else. Have fun!

Markiplier is a great content creator, but this show really goes beyond YouTube. The writing, acting, everything about the show had me on the edge of my sleep. I hate we are left on a cliffhanger and I need to know what happens next. I recommended this show to everyone who has Prime. Without spoiling it, the show follows Dave and his friend Matteo as they discover something horrifying has occurred. As the season ventures on, the horrifying turns into a mystery that leads to a race against the clock and fighting the body's natural need for sleep. Sit back, fold clothes, and watch the show. Refreshing and captivating.

I was slightly skeptical of the quality of such a low budget project, but prepared to love it regardless (bc it's Mark!! How could you not??). Mark stated in a video that he felt extremely rushed and unprepared for this project. But if I hadn't known that, I never would have guessed. The story is compelling and riveting, and I LOVE the unsettling feeling it instills at times. The acting was far better than I expected. I mean really, they could go on to become A-list professionals. The effects are wonderful and beautiful honestly, and it appears to be made my a well-polished and accomplished director. Mark truly has a talent for this, and I hope to see many more of his projects in the future. A GREAT watch!!

I absolutely loved the series! One of the best parts was how they didn't rely on gore, which was a huge plus for me since I really can't handle that. They built suspense and tension in such a clever way, with just enough scary moments to keep it gripping without going overboard. The mystery was so well done, and you can really tell they poured their hearts into it, especially considering they don't have the kind of budget that big studios like Disney do. That makes it even more impressive! I'm already hoping for another season or sequel-I'm not ready for it to end. If they continue the story, I'll be the first to watch it. Definitely a 10/10! Good job mark!

The clunky dialogue, confusing yet boring plot, and sub-par performance from the lead Mark Fishbach unfortunately caused me to stop watching this series after just the third episode. I wanted to give this series the benefit of the doubt as a fan of content creators venturing into the television and film space, but Fishbach is the main cause of each scene that doesn't work. His performance falls short in every capacity, as it seems he's just trying to regurgitate his memorized lines, instead of truly reacting to his other actors in each scene, or what's supposed to be happening to his character. Lio Tipton and Eve Harlow are obviously talented, but every scene with Fishbach causes their performance to be shadowed by his novice talent.

The premise of this Sci-Fi TV series looked to be a pretty good one, in an end of the world type of pandemic film way.
Unfortunately, I spent twenty five dollars for a DVD of this horrible six episode series. Had I known what TRIPE it is, I'd never have bought it.
The writing was appalling! The acting was subpar. The episodes seemed like they ware about ten minutes long. In fact, the episodes were so short, the entire series could likely be watched in one hour.
The story seems to drift as each episode continues the adventures of the characters trying to figure out why everybody has died in their sleep and searching for any other survivors who are still awake and alive, all the while trying to stave off sleep themselves. Sometimes the story goes back in time without giving the audience a clue as to what is happening.
But again, and I digress... it's the writing that it the single and most obvious defect of this waste of time of a series.
I've thrown away this awful production.

This is a show based on a podcast, a podcast which I really enjoyed listening to. And now, I'm very happy to have had a television interpretation of the story. The Edge Of Sleep creates an incredibly intriguing universe where if you fall asleep, you will die. I love the concept of this story, and I love how it's handled in the show. The music and sound was really well done, and I especially love the intro sequence with its song selection. The overall atmosphere of the show is mysterious, yet comedic, yet serious, all at the same time. I think it does a great job balancing these themes. I also think it gets better the more episodes you watch. I think the last few episodes had some of my favourite sequences in the entire show. I also love the attention to detail, and how much it is evident that those who worked on creating the show, really poured their love and dedication into the project. I am looking forward to season 2!

For a main character to be played by an infamous youtuber shows that us regular people can also achieve our dreams from start to finish. The show was so good and i can't wait for more to come of it. Its got a wildly physic horror vibe and keeps you guessing. I believe it shows horror with out being just gore and jump scares, psychologically it makes you second guess and even someone like me who guesses the endings with ease I had no idea how this could have ended. I love having an ending that wasn't guessed from the beginning. I already need more of this story and I just finished it. Mark's fandom is not the only ones who need to watch. Everyone needs to because its so good.
I can't recommend it enough! This psychological thriller had me hooked from the very first episode. The unique premise of blurring dreams and reality kept me guessing and engaged throughout.
The performances are exceptional, with the cast bringing their characters to life in a way that felt relatable and intense. I found myself genuinely invested in their journeys. Plus, the cinematography and eerie sound design created such a captivating atmosphere that I felt completely immersed.
If you're looking for a show that combines suspense with thought-provoking themes, "The Edge of Sleep" is definitely worth your time. It left me thinking long after I finished watching!

Hands down the best show I've ever seen. From the casting to the costume design, cinematography, and depth of the plot, this show truly encompasses the immense amount of effort, passion, devotion and love that was poured into it. There's no way to not binge watch it all in one night!! There's horror, romance, mystery, psychological thrill, and comedy rolled beautifully into one masterpiece. Even watching the introduction to each episode is addicting!! It draws you in so calmly and then twists right in front of your eyes and suddenly you can't look away and you're on the edge of your seat for The Edge of Sleep!
