It looks like March is going to be a big month in VOD releases for genre fans, as there are a handful of great titles to keep an eye out for in the coming weeks. Several highly anticipated indie films are getting released, including It Follows, Spring, Faults and Backcountry, and there are also a handful of other fun films making their way onto digital platforms as well.

Here’s a rundown of what’s heading to VOD in March:

The Burning Dead (Uncork’d Entertainment)- 3/3

Written and produced by Jeff Miller and Jason Ancona (co-writers and producers of Axe Giant: The Wrath of Paul Bunyan), The Burning Dead pits a a horde of lava-filled zombies against a sheriff charged with the plight to rescue an estranged family from a volcano eruption. Trejo plays Night Wolf, a Native American warrior who knows way too much about the curse that unearthed the coffin dodgers.

We return with another edition of the Indie Spotlight, highlighting the recent independent horror news sent our way. Today’s feature includes a trailer for Never Let Go, new episode details from L.A. Macabre and How to Survive the Zombie Apocalypse, the short film Knock Knock, a Q&A featuring The Walking Dead‘s Amber Dawn Fox, and much more:

Never Let Go Trailer and Premiere Details: “Here is a sneak preview of what’s up for grabs at the Berlin Film Festival later this week – Howard J Ford’s (Director/Producer Co-Writer of ‘The Dead 1&2″) latest epic Never Let Go. Shot in Morocco, Spain and the Us, the film tells the story of Lisa, a single mother (played by Angela Dixon) who takes the law into her own hands to get back her abducted child. Volcano Zombies, the new horror/disaster feature co-starring Danny Trejo, is finishing post-production, and the producers have just released the first trailer and some additional stills.

Written and produced by Jeff Miller and Jason Ancona (co-writers and producers of Axe Giant: The Wrath Of Paul Bunyan), the film's director is Rene Perez (The Dead And The Damned).

Volcano Zombies is about a sheriff who must rescue an estranged family from a mountain during a volcano eruption and fight off a horde of lava-filled zombies that have shot out of the volcano, brought to life by a curse.

Almost one year ago, when we launched at Big Daddy, one of our first posts was about 10 horror films in need of a DVD or Blu-Ray release. The Nesting and Twice Dead which both made the list are now either out on DVD or about to be released. Other titles that made the list included The Pack, Night Warning, Massacre at Central High, Dance of the Damned, Children of the Corn II: The Final Sacrifice, Deadly Blessing, The Kindred and Killer Party. With this second annual edition, we hope to spotlight more horror films that have fallen through the cracks. Titles that haven't been released beyond VHS (with the exception of one, that has only been released to VOD) that need the attention of us horror fans and distributors to make these titles readily available for our horror movie watching enjoyment.
