We're deep into the second season of Silo on Apple TV+, and the hit sci-fi show continues to deliver. This week's episode, "The Book of Quinn," sees Juliette Nichols (Rebecca Ferguson) contend with a mysterious new group of survivors in Silo 17 after they seemingly killed her friend Solo (Steve Zahn). Things got intense fast, as Juliette barely made it a handful of steps chasing their trail before she succumbed to "the bends," — a danger of Scuba diving where coming up from the pressurized depths too fast can cause bubbles to form in a person's joints, leading to intense pain and even paralysis. Juliette had to limp back down into the water and submerge herself deep enough, for long enough, for the pain to subside.

It's that time of the week again, where we gush about Silo and go over all the latest twists and turns from Apple TV+'s hit science fiction series. "The Book of Quinn" is the eighth out of 10 episodes for the season, and as such it spends a fair amount of time setting up the endgame. It's great as usual, but this episode does feel a little bit more like it's treading water as it moves pieces into place for the big finish.
But hey, every show needs a breather, and it's a credit to Silo that even when it's taking one, it's got enough going on to keep minds bending and butts on the edge of seats. To top it all off, we finally learn some details about Salvador Quinn, the former head of It whose writings have tantalized Mayor Bernard Holland (Tim Robbins) and his new shadow Lukas Kyle (Avi Nash) all season.

Silo is nearing the end of its second season on Apple TV+, and it just keeps getting better and better. The latest episode of the sci-fi series, "The Dive," saw Juliette Nichols (Rebecca Ferguson) go on a dangerous underwater mission in hopes of draining some of the water from Silo 17. In return, the paranoid man named Solo (Steve Zahn) agreed to return her environment suit so that she can get back to her own Silo before a bloody rebellion gets everyone there killed.
I've enjoyed every episode of Silo's second season, but "The Dive" was a notch above. I spent a good portion of Ferguson's scenes with my jaw on the floor, because I've rarely seen an underwater sequence executed so well on either the small or big screen. The sets look like real flooded environments, and Ferguson's character uses equipment that looks authentic to the world of Silo — that is to say,...

Warning: this article contains spoilers for Silo season 2, episode 7.
Apple TV+'s gripping science fiction show Silo is mid-way through airing its second season, and season 2, episode 7, "The Dive", includes some thrilling diving sequences for Rebecca Ferguson's character Juliette. Silo season 2 has been met with positive reviews from critics and audiences alike, even though it feels very different from the first season. Still, its post-apocalyptic setting is gripping and the mysteries surrounding the truth of the Silo 18's rebellions and history has kept audiences waiting each episode for new evidence.
Silo season 2 has kept its focus on Juliette's activities in Silo 17 along with the ramifications of her exit and the ongoing power struggle between different groups in Silo 18. After deciding that she needs to return to her former home in Silo 18, Juliette is tasked with fixing the water pump in 17, leading to Silo season 2 episode 7's cliffhanger ending when she resurfaces.

Spoiler Alert: This post contains spoilers from “The Dive,” the seventh episode of “Silo” Season 2, now streaming on Apple TV+.
On the official poster for Season 2 of Apple TV+’s “Silo,” Rebecca Ferguson can barely keep her head above water. That image of Ferguson as mechanic Juliette, partially submerged underwater, has loomed large over this new season like an omen of what has been simmering just below the surface. And this week, it all came to a head.
Juliette is a strong-willed problem solver who could put MacGyver out of business. But she’s running out of options for how to get back to her own silo after taking refuge in a neighboring one that has been devastated by rebellion. Having walked over the bodies of this silo’s former residents upon arrival, she is now desperate to stop any such rebellion that her mysterious expulsion last season may have inspired among her people.

Another week, another fantastic episode of Silo, Apple TV+'s science fiction show based on the bestselling book trilogy by Hugh Howey. We're seven episodes into Silo's second season, and at this point it's clear: this show is incapable of being bad. But even by its own rock-solid standards, "The Dive" is a banger of an episode from start to finish.
We're back to splitting the focus between Silos 17 and 18. In the former, Juliette Nichols (Rebecca Ferguson) is forced to go on a perilous underwater mission to keep the derelict Silo from flooding. In the latter, the populace edges closer to outright rebellion as order slips through Mayor Bernard Holland's (Tim Robbins) fingers.
There will be Spoilers for "The Dive" beyond this point.

Notably, The Last Breath features the last performance by the late Julian Sands to reach the screen. Sadly, it’s a supporting role that doesn’t give him, or more likely his stunt double, a lot of screen time or much to do until the end of the film…
1944, somewhere off the US Virgin Islands, a German U Boat sinks the USS Charlotte. There are survivors, but where there are survivors, there are sharks. In the present, Levi (Julian Sands) has been searching for the wreck for decades, and, along with Noah he’s finally found it.
A group of Noah’s friends, Logan, Riley (Erin Mullen; Midsomer Murders), Sam who happens to be Noah’s ex, and her instantly hateable brother Brett arrive for a vacation.

Estranged sisters attempting to rekindle their relationship suffer a catastrophic accident while exploring an underwater cave. The Dive is a harrowing, real-time thriller that guarantees this author will never set foot in scuba gear. Tense action scenes are juxtaposed with regretful memories and fantasy retellings of what could have been. The protagonists' love for each other is brought to the forefront by a situation neither could have ever imagined. The drama does run a little thick, but the life or death scenario keeps you gasping for air until the credits.

Written and directed by Maximilian Erlenwein, The Dive is an English language remake of the 2020 Swedish thriller Breaking Surface, which is basically the same story, only colder, due to it being set in northern Norway. As such, it’s an effective and engaging survival horror, not too far removed from 2022’s horror hit The Fall, which had two women stuck up a pole, as opposed to two women stuck underwater. You could also, somewhat less generously, see it as 47 Metres Down without the sharks.
Louisa Krause and Sophie Lowe play May and Drew, two sisters of a similar age, who have become semi-estranged as a result of a recent event – we assume the death of their father, though that’s never explicitly stated. Whatever the incident, May is still harbouring some resentment towards Drew (flashbacks belatedly hint at the...

In the unforgiving terrain of survival thrillers, where humanity’s endurance is stretched to its limits, director and writer Maximilian Erlenwein’s The Dive ventures into treacherous waters with a mixture of commendable ambition and palpable shortcomings. While it treads the same waters as gripping classics like 127 Hours and 47 Meters Down, this tale of two sisters trapped in the cold embrace of the ocean falls somewhat short of making a lasting impact, often finding itself gasping for air. With a mixed bag of performances, a screenplay that occasionally springs leaks, and a submerged urgency that fails to fully surface, The Dive finds itself navigating the uncertain waters between tension and missed opportunities.

Ever gone scuba diving? Or maybe just snorkeling? There's a beautiful world beneath the sea level, and if Mother Nature doesn't happen to strike with a natural disaster, it could be worth exploring with the right training and mental composure. That's the premise of The Dive, which started as a hit Swedish movie by Joachim Hedén that has since evolved to an English-language, Malta-set adaptation starring Sophie Lowe (Beautiful Kate) and Louisa Krause (The Girlfriend Experience).
In the new thriller from co-writer/director Maximilian Erlenwein, Lowe and Krause play sisters Drew and May, who venture out on a deep-sea diving trip gone terribly wrong. Thanks to a landslide, one of them gets stuck way below the surface while the other battles a depleting level of oxygen as she seeks help. Time is running out, to say the least...

Rlje Films' new thriller The Dive follows two sisters on a deep-sea diving trip that turns into a fight for survival when one of them becomes trapped below the ocean. Director Maximilian Erlenwein drew inspiration from a Swedish film and his own passion for diving when creating The Dive. Filming underwater presented numerous challenges, including communication difficulties and safety concerns, but the cast and crew overcame them to create a realistic and thrilling movie experience.
Rlje Films' new thriller The Dive will be available to see in theaters beginning Friday, August 25th. The movie follows a pair of sisters who meet up for an annual vacation in spite of the growing distance between them. However, their deep-sea diving trip turns into a fight for survival when a landslide leaves May trapped 28 meters below the ocean. Desperate to save her sister, Drew must exhaust every possible option before May's oxygen runs out.

One briny-deep thriller that does not have sharks, other aquatic predators or even human ones, German director Max Erlenwein’s English-language “The Dive” manages to work up considerable tension nonetheless. It’s closer in gist to “127 Hours” than most other underwater suspense films, hinging on a similar type of physical entrapment — only the survivable timespan here is of course much reduced, because the imperiled characters have a limited oxygen supply.
While perhaps not quite striking enough in style or incident to leave a lasting impression, this very well-crafted remake of co-writer Joachim Heden’s 2020 Norwegian feature “Breaking Surface” should particularly impress with its underwater photography on the big screen. Most viewers, however, are likely to catch it via home formats, as Rlje Films releases the film day-and-date to digital and theater screens on Aug. 25.

Sophie Lowe and Louisa Krause as Drew and May in The Dive. Maximilian Erlenwein: 'It was crucial for me to make it as real and realistic as possible' Maximilian Erlenwein's The Dive takes the plunge with two sisters, Drew (Sophie Lowe) and May (Louisa Krause), as they head off on their annual diving trip together. The isolated location proves to be a threat, however, when May becomes trapped beneath the waves and Drew faces a race against the clock to try to save her. Shot on location in Malta and the neighbouring island of Gozo, Erlenwein was determined to keep the underwater shooting as authentic as possible, which meant both actresses had to learn how to dive. We caught up with him ahead of the film's FrightFest screening and UK release to talk about the challenges.
Do you dive yourself?
Maximilian Erlenwein: Oh, yes. I did a lot of diving when I was younger.

The first trailer for The Dive teases an underwater thriller that is sure to leave audiences breathless. Released courtesy of Rlje Films, The Dive is centered around just two characters, Louisa Krause (Billions) and Sophie Lowe (Blow the Man Down) who find their perfect diving trip quickly turning into a life-and-death disaster. You can check out the first trailer for The Dive below.
The Dive begins as you would expect, with the perfect day for a dive. Clear sight, stable weather and an incredible, reclusive spot. Drew and May, sisters and experienced divers who share a close and complex bond, are excited as they marvel at this undiscovered underwater world. Their sense of wonder is interrupted when May is abruptly hit by a rock, which knocks off her goggles and leaves her shaken, but with only a small scratch.
However, the sisters’ relief is short-lived: the stone came from a landslide above the surface.

"You have to go to the surface and call for help!" Rlje Films has revealed the trailer for an underwater survival thriller titled The Dive, from German filmmaker Maximilian Erlenwein. This is actually a remake of a Scandinavian film called Breaking Surface, which has the same plot except in Norway. In this new one, two sisters go diving at a beautiful, remote location. One is struck by a rock underwater from a landslide, leaving her trapped 28 meters below. With dangerously low levels of oxygen and cold temperatures at these depths, it is up to her sister to save her – Drew must make life-and-death decisions with no outside help in sight... The thriller stars Sophie Lowe as Drew and Louisa Krause as May – the one trapped. This looks super scary! Especially for anyone afraid of deep water. This trailer plays like 127 Hours, but underwater. If you're already nervous of Scuba diving,...
