One of the things that makes Batman great is his villains. They’re eye-catching, brutal, smart, and different from any other character. It’s why people don’t go to the movies just to see The Dark Knight. They’re also going for the antagonists. The Riddler’s clues, Harvey Dent’s face, and The Joker’s smile are three examples of what viewers need from Batman's rivals.

With DC Comics Absolute Universe, everything about the classic villains has been cranked up to a thousand. For example, Black Mask is more than just a random gangster in a black skull mask. He’s a brutal fighter with the ability to control people with cryptocurrency and manipulation of powerful people in Gotham. With that in mind, imagine what Absolute Batman writer Scott Snyder will do with Mr. Freeze. Thankfully, we won’t have to wait long.

In Ark: Survival Ascended, caves are among the most dangerous locations, so it is crucial to understand how to survive them. In a way, caves in Ark are like mini-dungeons, filled with worthy adversaries that have no problems overwhelming players, especially new ones. This is doubly so as many tamed creatures in Ark are too big to enter caves unless brought in with a Cryopod. Even then, some of Ascended's best creatures would likely be too large to maneuver about in many of these tight spaces easily.

Cave difficulty can also heavily depend on the map. On The Island, many caves are filled with vanilla Ark creatures that, with some experience, become easier to handle, but still require proper preparation. Whereas later Dlc maps have caves that abide by their rules with new mechanics and creatures. Furthermore, caves are split up into those that reward artifacts and those that only reward resources.

In Ark: Survival Ascended, one of the most annoying things can be storing and moving dinosaurs before access to Cryopods, which is why some mods give better alternatives at earlier points. Though Crypods can be unlocked at level 51, they can be expensive to make for some and tedious for others. This is why many mods focus on a cheaper and easier experience that lightens the load of one of Ark's less important features.

Functionally, Crypods are not incredibly flawed, but they do have some detractors. This was worsened in one of Ascended's biggest mechanic changes that made Cryopods feel near useless. Luckily, these changes, which introduced cooldowns and range limits, will be reversed soon. However, the original problem of accessing and then using Cryopods remains, which has led the community to create better alternatives.

Gints Zilbalodis’s Flow might be wordless, but that’s not for lack of its maker having things to say. In Zilbalodis’s sophomore feature, the Latvian animator expands from a one-man operation into overseeing a fleet of technicians to create a vast, imagined world. Within a landscape defined by the creeping presence of a great flood and a conspicuous lack of humans, an intrepid black cat must learn to cooperate with a wide array of creatures to survive. Even without language, it’s never in doubt what the animals perceive or feel at any given moment.

As the feline protagonist seeks higher ground from the rising tides, the story invites any number of allegorical readings, from a post-human retelling of the Noah’s Ark story or a warning about a climate change-ravaged Earth. Zilbalodis builds subtlety into each scene that can unlock layers of how the characters respond to the calamity surrounding them.

With Ark 2 likely to come out in the next year, the sequel has a chance to further improve the technology the franchise has created. Though the sequel to the beloved prehistoric survival game has gone through considerable delays, and Ark: Survival Ascended continues to get DLCs, it is still surrounded by waves of excitement. Studio Wildcard has also said how it wants to expand what players and the game are capable of. In this regard, it can be expected that many new systems and items will be added.

Currently, the highest tech tier in the franchise is Tek. These are a combination of modern day technology mixed with glimpses of what is possible in the future. This endgame equipment is unlocked by defeating the different world bosses and drastically increases the power of players and dinosaurs. However, Ark 2 could take this to a new level.

How Ark 2 Can Expand Technology...

Ark: Survival Ascended can already feel like an out-of-this-world experience, but one mod can make it into a true fantasy world. Ascended has done a good job capturing what made its predecessor good and expanding on it. Though it is not without faults, the game is unarguably a massive improvement. The title's success is helpful given that the highly anticipated sequel has faced considerable delays and still has no concrete launch date. Regardless, the upgraded title is still set to see more Dlc in the near future.

Another huge boost to the prehistoric survival game is the modding community. These mods range from small quality-of-life changes to massive content inclusions. Ascended also makes it easy to use mods with its own in-game mod page, along with support for popular mod sites like Curseforge. Ark: Survival Ascended has gotten more comfortable adding fictional or sci-fi creatures, meaning more could and should be on the way. Ascended has continued to be a dominant force in the gaming sphere. The prehistoric survival game has recently sold over two million copies, with another 400,000 in its Dlc pack. Though it is not without its faults, it is largely everything that it should be and more.

Ark has always tried to keep most of its creatures realistic, but some have pushed boundaries. Scorched Earth introduced the mythical Manticore, and the majority of new additions in Aberration are fictional. Even recently, the fiery Pyromane joined the roster, albeit with some controversy.

Ark: Survival Ascended is full of incredible dinosaurs, monsters, and even mythological creatures. From the powerful Giganotosaurus to the giant insect-like Rhyniognatha, the game has many creatures for players to discover, defeat, and even tame. But not all the dinos are met with the same enthusiasm by players.

Some of the dinosaurs and other creatures that players find on their journeys through the Island are more likely to draw out an exasperated sigh as the encounter leads to more frustration than enjoyment. To put it plainly, some of the creatures in Ark: Survival Ascended are incredibly annoying, and after meeting them just once, you might hope to never cross paths with these pesky critters again.

The problem with films shot in one take (or constructed to look as if they were) is that the filmmakers priority is often weighted towards technical and not narrative or character considerations. For every 1917, with a one-take appearance that provided no relief from the hell of World War I, or 2002s monumental Russian Ark, which introduced us to centuries of Russian history, theres Irrversible, Gaspar Nos reprehensible exercise in sexual violence, or 2011s Silent House, where Elizabeth Olsen played second fiddle to camerawork and a horror atmosphere.

Somewhere between those extremes we have the one-take (actually five takes stitched together) MadS, which has the additional burden of being directed by David Moreau, whose films tend to have more running time than story. That was certainly the case with his 2006 suspense film Ils (Them in French) and his young adult riff on M. Night Shyamalan, Seuls (Alone in French). Its also the case in MadS.

Ark: Survival Ascended introduces the Archelon, a new creature coming to the game in a rapidly approaching update. Like much content in Asa, Archelon was originally a fan-made monster. It debuted in Ark Additions, a mod that greatly expanded the creature roster in the original Ark. A hard-shelled underwater titan, it's a versatile creature, with a variety of different features that make it a worthwhile addition to any Ark map.

In Ark: Survival Ascended, flying dinosaurs are must-haves for their superior mobility and ability to traverse The Island compared to their grounded counterparts. Critical for scouting missions or just getting from one place to another quickly and safely, most people's first flying tame will be a massive step up from whatever grounded mount they'd likely be using up until that point.

While there aren't as many flying creatures currently in Asa as there were in Evolved, there is still a wide variety of different species one can find, with most of them being tameable. In addition, over time, more flying dinosaurs should be added to the game, as indicated by the Asa Dlc Roadmap, giving people more variety in the kind of flying dino that's best for them. That said, currently there are still a bunch of flying creatures to choose from, and some of them are much better than others.

All joking aside, this show is phenomenal without resorting to crazy gimmicks or overwrought dialogue and plotting. The strength of the series lies in its level of talent.

During the previous episode of The Ark, Ark-1 made it to the Trappist solar system. The Ark season 2 finale sees Ark-1 make it to Trappist 1D, but is what they find too good to be true?

A lot happened in the last episode of The Ark, with the ending making it clear that there is a threat on Trappist 1D. Someone wants Trust dead, and they were willing to send Strickland out on a suicide mission to make sure it happened.

Of course, with Strickland knowing his daughter was on the planet, he had to get there to get her back. Would his need put everyone else in danger?

It just goes to show you that you should never sleep on a series as fun as The Ark, regardless of airborne tranquilizers.

That was a fun episode, but we at TV Fanatic call it as we see it, and what we saw here was a “Die Hard” in space. Air vents be damned.

There were spy hunters on Ark-1, but they were killed when the ship was attacked in the series premiere. That meant the Ef spies were able to hide away, but not for long.

The animals on Noah’s ark have a singing contest under the eye of a familiar leonine villain, amid a flood of unoriginal gags

The Bible meets Sing in this musical kids’ animation from Brazil that reimagines the animals on Noah’s ark competing in a talent contest. After 96 minutes, you might well be praying for their extinction. It’s frantically zany with plenty of hyperactive energy, but hopelessly low on originality. Presumably, it’s set in Old Testament times, but there are TikTok gags here and not-funny-enough jokes for adults about fake news.

That said, it begins not too badly at all with a pair of wisecracking musician mice, Tom and Vini, earwigging as God delivers his proclamation to Noah to build the ark. There’s a funny moment where Noah points out the numerous plot holes in the biblical story. How will the animals fit on one boat?...

Ark: Ascended's Aberration Dlc drops September 4 with new creatures and survival features on a unique map, but more exciting changes might be coming soon. Unreal Engine 5.4 and Fsr 3.1 upgrades might be released on the same day, and could enhance performance for Asa. Consoles may get expanded mod storage for Ark soon, allowing players to download more mods.

There's more than one massive change coming to Ark: Survival Evolved this September. Most players are already familiar with the upcoming Aberration Dlc for Asa, which features a variety of new creatures and survival features on a ruined, irradiated map. Like most maps released for Asa, Aberration was originally released for Ark: Survival Evolved as a free Dlc, but is finally coming back to the remaster on September 4. It's one of the biggest and most unique maps available, so the excitement for it is understandable.

The Marvel fandom was clearly divided when Robert Downey Jr. was unmasked as the next Doctor Doom at the San Diego Comic-Con.

Half the fandom felt disappointed, as this clearly besmirched the reputation of Iron Man, a character who was killed off in heroic fashion at the conclusion of Avengers: End Game.

The other half, though, continued to stick by the casting decision, having faith not only in Robert Downey Jr. as a shrewd and talented actor but also in the vision of Anthony and Joe Russo, who have never steered Marvel wrong.

Many have speculated that the recasting is nothing more than a money move since Marvel universe projects have faltered since 2020.

There’s also that little scandal about Kang, played underwhelmingly by Jonathan Majors, which undoubtedly contributed to Marvel’s rescheduling of some climactic plots.

The well-known characters of the anime franchise Neon Genesis Evangelion have guest-starred in several video games over the years as crossover characters. Now, the next example of this is a third-person shooter RPG from South Korea that's also become a major hit in Japan and the U.S.

Goddess of Victory: Nikke was released in late 2022, and it's since been one of the biggest gacha shooter games in recent years. This success has also resulted in crossovers with different video game properties, along with some major anime. The latest of these is Evangelion, with the anime's female characters taking center stage.

The Aberration map for Asa is delayed until September 2024. The new creature in Asa's Aberration, Yi Qi, has deadly features. Aberration's unique gameplay mechanics include mutated creatures, an underground setting, radiation hazards, and new resources for crafting.

Ark: Survival Ascended has finally announced the release of the Aberration map, coming out later this year. Originally released for Ark: Survival Evolved on December 12, 2017, Aberration is an expansion map primarily featuring a damaged Ark and an expansive underground biome. It's the third Dlc map to be added to Ark: Survival Ascended, following The Center back in June and Scorched Earth in April.

Much like other map DLCs, Aberration includes a variety of new creatures, items, and locations for players to tame, craft, and explore. So, without further ado, here's everything players can expect from the new map coming to Ark: Survival Ascended.

Asa's Aberration map is roughly comparable in surface area to The Island, but its verticality makes it significantly bigger. Scorched Earth is a similar size but lacks verticality, making it ultimately smaller than Aberration. The Center Dlc is the largest map to be released for Asa to date, but that's expected to change with future Dlc.

Measuring the actual size of an Ark: Survival Ascended map like Aberration is more difficult than it seems. Although rough scale maps for the base location (The Island) and Ark's many Dlc maps do exist, they don't account for all the peculiarities possible. For example, some maps are more vertically situated than others, cramming more terrain into a technically smaller area. Others may contain large swathes of inaccessible or disused terrain, like thick cave walls or long stretches of open ocean.

Aberration is the third main Dlc map to come to Ark, following The Center and Scorched Earth.

Animated shows have taken off majorly over the last few decades. Obviously, fans love the likes of The Simpsons, Family Guy and Futurama while scores of other streamers have many of them. Most are from network or cable while streamers want to try more original fare.

Paramount+ is among them with most of their animated fare coming from Nickelodeon and aimed at kids. That includes Spongebob Squarepants, Paw Patrol and Transformers. Sonic the Hedgehog 3 will delve into Shadow's backstory, but could also feature the involvement of Chaos as hinted at in previous movies. Chaos could replace the Biolizard as a surprise twist villain, tying into the Chaos Emerald lore from the games while also putting a spin on expectations. While it's not guaranteed Chaos will show up in Sonic the Hedgehog 3, he should still appear in the future to pay off hints of his existence in the films.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is going to be focused on Shadow's backstory, but the upcoming movie's perfect final boss could add a genius twist to a 1998 game antagonist. Sonic the Hedgehog 2's post-credits scene revealed Shadow was being held in a government black site, setting the stage for his involvement in the story of the next installment.

The Jurassic Awakening mod for Ark: Survival Ascended adds over 400 new dinosaurs and variants, as well as new items and customization options. The mod improves AI behavior for a more rewarding experience and increases difficulty as players progress across The Island. Players looking to refresh their gameplay experience in Ark should check out this customizable mod.

Despite the abundance of content already featured in Ark: Survival Ascended, this massive mod delivers a Dlc-sized experience that exponentially grows the vanilla game. In World of Ark, a large part of the game's appeal comes from how developer Studio Wildcard encourages talented modders to take its creation and make it their own with massive tweaks and additions that may not be a part of the official development project. The result is an extremely customizable survival game that's constantly growing thanks to gigantic add-ons that allow for unprecedented customization.

As Ark: Survival Ascended tries out a new monetization method, the game's massive community isn't all that pleased with how Studio Wildcard is handling the release of Pyromane, the latest creature. Both Ark and Jurassic Park have their strengths, but adding prehistoric mammals to the franchise could elevate it further.

Since 1993, Jurassic Park has been at the forefront of dinosaur content, but this year, a new dinosaur series has hit Paramount+, Ark: The Animated Series, and its menagerie of creatures may finally give the iconic franchise a run for its money. Ark: The Animated Series is a 2024 adult animated show based on Ark: Survival Evolved that follows Helena Walker, a paleontologist who wakes up on an island of dinosaurs. At first glance, Ark and Jurassic Park seem quite similar, however, their shared use of dinosaurs is just one commonality. In reality, Ark has more to offer beyond reptiles.

The strength of the Ark franchise is evident, with the original game getting multiple expansions, and support for years, as well as a highly anticipated sequel starring Fast X star Vin Diesel, and of course the recently released Ark: The Animated Series.

It isn’t too much to say that a large part of the success comes down to the atmosphere created by the Ost of Gareth Coker, an ever-presence throughout all the projects of the franchise, and now in the midst of curating Ark 2’s soundtrack, to boot.

Exciting additions to Ark: Survival Ascended include new creatures like Ceratosaurus, Xiphactinus, and Gigantoraptor, enhancing gameplay possibilities. The Center map in Ark: Survival Ascended offers unique biomes, such as the Lava Biome and Underground World, providing challenges for advanced players. Expect differences in the remake of The Center from the original, with potential new features and creature changes adding to the gameplay experience.

On June 4, 2024, the long-awaited Center map returns to Ark: Survival Ascended. The map originally appeared in Ark: Survival Evolved, first as a player-made mod by Ben EvilMrFrank Burkart. Featuring an unusually high difficulty level, excellent loot, new biomes, and unique geographical features, The Center was a massive hit. It eventually got so popular that The Center became an official part of the game, and was released in 2016 as an official free Dlc for Ark: Survival Evolved.

Fans of House Targaryen in Ark: Survival Ascended can now recruit and tame a fleet of dragons with the Draconic Chronicles mod.
